I don't think human minds could truly understand just how large some of these beings would be. We can barely truly understand how large Earth is. Now imagine being in a vessel and seeing a creature larger than the planet it is near. Or fighting it in the void of space, with 0 help perspective wise.
@@TheRedKing the scales in stellaris are a bit off, so I think these beings are a lot smaller then a planet, I think that the size compared to ships is true though, but ships are a lot less big then they’re shown, that would explain why they can be in seemingly the same place without crashing into eachother, this is just my headcannon though

It is a shame that slaying the Dimensional Horror doesn't have a chance to "unplug" the hole, calling in a crisis level level (a bunch of DHs, for example) Also, what, no love for The Worm...?

My current game is my first since downloading apocalypse. As mid game approached I fortified my west fearful of the marauders. Instead the spectral wraith appeared in the east. Fortunately it tore through only two systems before picking a fight with the stellarite devourer.
i once went on a early game fleet/tech rush and made a 30k fleet of pure sheilds and immediatly set off to kill a tiyanki matriarch as reanimators, then with my max sheild fleet and zombie matriach/ah4b killed an ether drake, got lucky and found the rubricator and killed shard, took a while but increased my total naval power to about 180k really early on. (i had research on 0.25X speed bc i just wanted to give this reanimated build a go quickly, pretty fun watching all my enemies fall to a 3 leviathan fleet lol)
i usually 'spare' any possible leviathan until i can add reanimator civic later in the game and get zombie leviathans as the cherry on top, i got really unlucky once and only got dreadnought, scavenger and devourer so couldn't reanimate any :(

GOD YES, I’ve been waiting so long for someone to make a lore breakdown of the space fauna… them and some of the lost ships/machines were the most interesting part of Stellaris to me!
Recently discovered this channel and really enjoy listening to the stuff I haven't dived too much into yet. I think I know most stuff in this video but it'll still be a chill listen.
I was initially puzzled as to your exclusion of the mechanical leviathans such as the Dreadnought or the Infinity Machine, but I imagine that could be a whole video in and of itself.
Very cool formatting the narration on that manner. I can see by observing the descriptions and other lore bits some of these Leviathan creature in universe range differently in size. Some are the size of mountain ranges, some continents, some the size of planets, and some are like star devourer a bit larger then even that. It seems like the Dimensional Horror and the Worm are one of the largest ones coming out of black holes and a giant interdimensional portals. I think with these internal details in mind that might mean the Prethoryn Scourge's Queen might be larger to. So far Stellaris is glad they don't have any crestures as dangerous like Photino Birds who are nearly indestructible physically. They are worse then C'Tans and breed very fast. There are even alot spacial anomalies and creatures SCPs that may fit perfectly with the Stellaris universe like SCP-169, SCP-3485, SCP-4774, Pattern Screamers, Voruteut, and there is even some spacial reality warping phenomenons like a ever expanding interdimensional black hole that exists in every single universe at the same time and keeps on expanding and nobody has ever been able to stop it.
When a Criminal Heritage that I was at war with (because fuck CH megacorps) killed Bubbles, I tech rushed Colossus tech and make each of their worlds as my new pets (aka: "my planet-sized sea monkeys")
This is my forst tim playing and the tyankki(?) were the forst ones i found so naturally i got attached to them, hundreds of years later an empire wipes them out and I'm very temepted to go to war with them just for that.
I find it interesting that lives can exist in the cold, dark vacuum of space. By the way, it's an amazing video. I played this video to my daughter as a bedtime story.
If you kill a tiyanki you should be considered a galactic threat and be annihilated by the whole galactic community. Space whales are precious and must be protected at all costs.

it gets even worse with mods. so bad, that even with multiplebmods buffing their research and production, all they do is just spamming tier 1 tech corvettes.

I’m a little sad you didn’t touch on the non-sentient life you encounter in events. Such as the worms which inhabit planets, or the xenomorphs, etc. Granted that would be a video of it’s own. And this one is so well made. I imagine that you could use the dimensional events as a means of making it possible for the “narrator” to know enough of the life in question to talk about it, despite never meeting it. To clarify, I mean the event that is a dimensional portal on your planet that allows you to talk too the mirror version of your society. Or something similar to it.

Agree regarding Ether Drakes, not sure about the whales, I think they were being controlled by something in the Ort system rather than operating alone

@@TheRedKing yeah, the idea seemed so outlandish, I know it doesn't have to be "realistic" and if it was it would be incredidibly mundane with other parts of the game like zro, but the idea that there could the sea monster equivalent out amoung the stars felt so unbelievable.
@@mojowwwav4357 Who knows. The universe is so big and do mysterious, that anything could possible, even giant space creatures. Us humans have gotten used to our environment on Earth for thousands of years, so it would make sense to doubt the existence of space fauna or other alien civilizations far away from us in the galaxy. It's just something fun to think about.
