as a Swiss person, it makes me so proud when people try our snacks!
so I think I'll be commenting on my comment while watching this.
about rivella: it's not actually an energy drink, as far as I know it doesn't contain caffeine, it does however contain (drumroll)... whey! So not suitable for vegans!
"läckerli" actually roughly translates to "tasty thing" and "basler" just means "something from Basel" (Basel is a city in Switzerland)
for the "ä" in Kägifret, you could pronounce it a bit like an American would pronounce the "a" in "hat" and you'd get close enough 🤔
it's kinda silly but I feel exact the same, everytime someone likes the treats of switzerland I'm instant happy XD haha
Plejade it's the small country syndrome, we're haply just to be mentioned, lol! Remember when there was a Swiss guy in "the wolf of wallstreet"? I felt so excited! 😂
Hi, I'm from Switzerland, and I want to answer your questions:
1. Rivella is made out of milk whey. It was invented in the 50ies to deal with the high amount of this by-product in the dairies industry. It is popular by the Swiss youth, and considered a traditional drink.
2. Fleischkäse is the german/french style baloney.
3. The flakiness of the cheese flutes is due to its puff pastry.
4. Ovomaltine is a milk-drink powder, originally made out of eggs (lat. ovo), barley-malt, milk and cacao, hence the name "Ovomaltine". Today they use other proteins instead of eggs in the basic powder, which they use in almost all their products.
5. Basler Läckerli are a traditional treat from at least 1720 (first official mention) by the City of Basel (which is known for its art expeditions, pharmacy and biology industry) in the north-west of Switzerland. They are like you rightly guessed influenced from south German gingerbread tradition of the late middle ages (around 1500 CE.), most famous in Christmas cookies. Besides many spices it contains honey, hazelnut, almond, candied orange and citron peel and kirsch (schnapps).
6. Your second pronunciation of Kägi fret was spot on.
7. Next time put the Ragusa in the fridge. It should only start to melt in your mouth.
8. In the milk chocolate there are no nuts and almonds, but they have to write it, because they use the same machines, and there could be traces of them, that could be harmful for allergic people. It's so milky because they use a lot of milk, compared to other chocolates.
Nice video.
Cheers!
as thurgauer i agree 100% but one thing one needs to tell the people is: the Coop prix Garantie Chocolate is one of the worst chocolates here in switzerland. it is cheap in production an cheap in taste. i somehow feel sorry that they didn't have Lindt-Sprüngli Chocolate, Vollenweider Chocolate or from Läderach. it would be very nice to see when someone would give them those ones so they can try the difference in quality.
Absoluts nogo
Dayz why not S'billigste vom billige... (Wenn mer scho so es Päckli macht sött mer wenigstens e chli representativi Schoggi näh.)
Agreed!!!
Die hend au d‘falschi flagge im thumbnail brucht
HAHA han ich mer au denkt xD
Wenn scho schoggi denn scho richtigi
11:58 you ate one of the cheapest milk chocolates in switzerland 😂
Swiss people usually buy these types to eat for themselves, if you're having guests or want to give someone chocolate, you buy "cailler" and other famous chocolate brands 😊
Caillier is for poor people still
Swisside true lol
I was surprised to see it too, lol! At least it tastes slightly better than "M Budget".... 🤣
On the other hand, one could consider that particularly authentic - the "run-off-the-mill" cheap chocolate people buy for themselves if they don't have to impress anyone; everyday stuff as experienced by countless Swiss people...
@@RealGestumblindiidk, never seen a Swiss person safe a lot of money in their chocolate if all things😂
He gave you the cheapest milk chocolat it costs 50cents😂
Yeah, I guess the budget wasn’t enough for the top chocolates😂
The ending where Satoshi guessed your fav food was adorable. Best couple on YT
My favorite gay guys were Superfruit before I discovered Tabieats. Shinichi and Satoshi are perfect.
Wait wait... so they ARE a couple? I've been wondering about this for so long.
Im from Switzerland and the Rivela is not an energy drink, is just a fresh drink (good for warm days). I love it so much. My absolut favorit is ovomaltine. It have minerals in it ;) (good after sport)
Rivella is not an energy drink. Its made with lactic acid. The le parfait you can spread, its ment to be spread. I live in the village Ovo is being made. Ovomaltine was a food substitute with eggs (ovo) and malt. Yes the Ragusa is better after the fridge when its solid.
Yeah, it is so cool to see you trying the products we brought to you guys!
And again, it was also a big pleasure for us to meet you! So interesting and fun with you, stay as you are.
And btw, sorry again for the waiting time from our side ;-)
Hope to see you again!
rivella is a soda with milk extract in it
Lol i'm living in Switzerland 🇨🇭
👍 but you forget this:
Ricola,
Toblerone,
🇨🇭Military-biscuits (😂),
Rahmtäfeli (from Läckerli Huus),
Rivella (the others),
Chocolate (Läderrach),
I love the military biscuits 😂
@@bruh.3662 Most don't. I think they are good if you want to fill your stomach if you have nothing else.
Ovaltine is chocolate powder that goes in milk and has some vitamins in it
Brian DuBose Ovaltine and Ovomaltine are the same thing :) Ovomaltine is a Swiss product that has a different name abroad :) except the Swiss version doesn't come with sugar.
Ovaltine is similar to Milo. It's a malted chocolate powder that you add to milk. Ovaltine is a finer powder than Milo and doesn't taste as malty in flavour. It's great hot and cold!
Brissy Girl Milo is specifically made to have a chunky layer that settles on the top of the milk. I've tried both my local Aussie made and Indonesian made Milo, they taste a lot different to Ovaltine drink powder.
I`m Swiss & Rivella is no energy drink haha.Just sugar water with milk serum :)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivella
I can't stop laughing every time I see Satoshi's face when Shinichi was singing with the heart cookies XD
So Hilarious, Because of the box says Butterherzli Petit Coeur *9:13*
13:14 is adorable, my fave part
What a lovely package of food treats! Thank you to Tobi and Vanessa for bringing all of these delicious things for you to try, and thank you for this wonderful video! Best wishes for a good weekend ahead. :-)
I'm so happy that I found this channel.
I love Kägi !!
Wonderful haul, my thanks to Tobi and Vanessa. You two are marvelous together.
Hahah! You guys are adorable! I love your food hauls. It's so fun to see you try the different snacks.
I love that they enjoy the textures and not just the flavors, more please
Awesome vid! You guys are so sweet, funny and enthusiastic and you pronounce the Swiss words rly well 😊well done, and glad you enjoyed our food 👍🏻
Such a fun video! I loved the skit in the intro; I think you both had fun with those cookies.... I would have done the same thing, too, LOL. As always, love to see you guys having fun and thanks for sharing!
you should try "rahmtäfeli" (like caramel with creem) it is also from "läkerlihuus"
im always amazed by how you two can just taste test anything! i'd be way too reluctant to taste test savory meat stuff and chocolate right after! another really sweet video, love your channel♡
the name is ovomaltine, with the accent in the "i", and it's called ovo cause is made with egg.
I love your videos. I watch u everyday on my lunch break❤❤😊😊😊
Another great video brothers! Thanks to Tobi and Vanessa for sending you the awesome treats!
BTW......after reading a couple of the comments, I had to go and watch the "Candy-Candy" video and theme song. Cute!!
"are you saying that I am powdery?"
* insert grin *
lol! I reallyobe your videos. keep up the great work!
Rivella is made with 35% milk serum, and it‘s not an energy drink, but it‘s very healthy 🇨🇭
03:59 Swiss Königs Hint: Wrap fresh high quality ham around the flutes you've tried in the video and serve them on a buffet as snacks! BEST THING EVER trust me on this one
As an Asian living in Switzerland, it’s so interesting see your video. I was so impressed by how good chocolate, ice cream and butter cookies when I first came to Switzerland. Z chips is of course so good. 😋😋😋
Switzerland snacks look good 😋
Paprika is a dried and some times smoked, pepper.
This is so timely, we are right here in Zurich shall go out to look for them. Thanks
The heart shaped cookies are so fun to eat and play with! Love the intro clip!
I'm a baker and I made once some Basler Läckerli in the bakery school. In there is honey, many sugar, orange, lemon, a few spices (like cinnamon and clove). As you said, the German cookies is called "Lebkuchen" (in English Gingerbread I guess), it's almost the same way to do it, it's really the same family - we call them "Honigteige" Honeypastries, because there is much honey in there :) It comes from the town Basel. And Läckerli means in my area something like goodie or treat (Don't know if it's Basel the same - because they have an another dialect then I have in Zurich) So goodies from Basel.
Another great tasting guys!🌷
You guys are good with the french words pronounciations! :) Lovely video, greetings from the french part of Switzerland (Geneva) X
As a Swiss person this video is so wholesome
HI!!! FROM PHILIPPINES WITH LOVE 💕✨
Love your videos guys, needs more likes though!
Very cool Video i Love your Food Hauls
I have a video idea for you guys! Next time try visiting IKEA I think Japan has them right? and try the meals/food there! (They have very nice meatballs). It might be a different experience since it's Swedish and not Japanese food but it should be fun to do at least! 😆
Also I honestly love watching your videos, and can never get enough~ Keep up the amazing work! 😊
Hi guys love you video's
Keep up the good work🎈💝🎈😘
you guys are the best.
Rivella is not an enegry drink. It‘s a soda made of milk whey. Yeah, it sounds gross. But actually it is really tasty and perfect on a hot summer day.
Hi guy's how you doing good to see international snacks yummie enjoy
Hi the Rivella is a Soft Drink in Switzerland like Coca Cola or something it was invented in Switzerland and is loved by us. Most people who aren't from Switzerland actually hate it. And no it's not an energy Drink.
Its called ovomaltine and origibally it was like a some sort of a chocolate milk and now there are several other products with the same flavor I would say its the most popular chocolat milk in Switzerland
You're so cute Shinichi !! ❤ Good to see you and Satoshi this morning from Bellingham Washington State !!!
I love Swiss chocolates...the Ovo Sport and Ovomaltine intrigue me. I need to find some!!!
Mary Friedling there is ovomaltine chocolate and it’s THE BEST EVER ❤️👍🏻
Satoshi's look at 0,04 secs amusement, pride and despair. Love then both
Awww the heart cookie part was adorable lol :)
C'est génial de voir des gens d'autres pays qui testent nos produits helvètes X)
Rivella is a kind of Lemonade but the special ingredient is Whey from Cowmilk.
Fleischkäse is no cheese inside. It's just because of his original loaf form.
Flutes are flaky pastry with cheese. Flaky Pastry is very difficult to make, you make a dough with flour, water and salt. You roll it and then you make a layer of cold butter on it. You fold it. After finish you have 72 layers of butter and 72 layers of the dough. Butter-dough-butter-dough...144 layers. Typical the Turkish Baklava, French Croissant (this with yeast) or this Flutes you use this flaky pastry.
Basler Läckerli means Goddies from the City Basel. It's a Gingerbread typical at Christmas. The Gingerbread spices are: cinnamon, star anise, ginger, macis, fennel seed, cardamom, coriander, anis seed, cloves, piment and nutmag. Also candied Orange and Lemon Peel, Almonds and Honey.
Ovomaltine Ovum is Egg in Latin. The power of an Egg but is no egg inside. ;-) A lot of sugar, Barley Malt, Cacao and Milkpowder. The original was a drinking powder like hot chocolate powder.
eingesalzene Butter means salty butter ;-)
Ohh I'm soo happy you like the treats of my country, who ever you send those they are one of the most well knowed treats and everyone I know love them. Ovosport and Ovomaltine is what every child had as a powder in milk, and so adults love too, with malt and very much vitamines and minerals. In hospitals you get this for breakfast too to help recover ^^ "Läckerli Huus" could be translated to "tasty/goodies house" and the store in the city Basel is named so, it's a very old treat and I think everyone from Switzerland know them, my favourite bisquit bread but almost not affordable X3 Hope your dear sister and mom love the treats too, sending you all the best greetings^^/
I love Ovaltine!! If I remember correctly, Taiwan have those bottled/canned Ovaltine milk in the convenient stores... And there are also powdered Ovaltine, where you just add in hot water or milk.
I can't find them here in Sweden :(
beginning was great lol
It's cool to see you guys trying the Basler Läckerli from my city :)
Oh yum!!! Swiss snacks!! They have the best chocolates there!!
The light blue color you were both wearing looks very good on you. Shinichi, that shirt style also looks very good on you.
im part swiss part brasilian and i love this stuff
u guys are funny and amazing video
All the treats are fun!
The person who said you shouldn't spread foie gras would have been specifically referring to the 'correct' way of eating foie gras in particular, which in its best form is basically the liver itself, sliced & placed on toasted bread. This doesn't apply to pâté or other meat spreads, it is a 'rule' for foie gras only, so feel free to spread the other cans however you prefer! 😊
Omg I love Ovomaltine! :)
👍 for you guys!
THAT FACE SATOSHI!! HAHA!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hii from switzerlaaaand :D
syrenya0 i am from to swizerland. In which Canton you live ???

Rivella is a softdrink
Rivella tastes the same as Calpis ☺️
I'm Swiss and tried Calpis in Japan for the first time and it tastes really similar in my opinion
i love ovaltine when i was a kid... nice, snack haul
hi from Colombia. I enjoy this video :)
ovaltine is a malt powder that you add to milk!! kinda like horlicks 😄
This is just a guess, but I don't think they literally mean cheese with the pastete, it's probably head cheese which is pork and gelatin.
is made with pork, you are correct :)
At 11:41 I started laughing so hard... 🤣🤣🤣
Only if you live in Switzerland you understand what "Prix Garantie" is!
Tell my the best swiss chocolate ,I go to visit Neuchalâtel
@@gledniberanac4347 Läderach
@@lordclimentos thanks see you swiss !
Rivella i like Rivelle im from Swizerland
私はキャンディ~♪ スイスのお菓子は全体的に美味しそうに見えます。
食べてみたい
Ohhh, I envy you your job!
waaaaaahhh..i miss swiss snacks😩😩😩
"Ab Ovo" is Latin for "from the egg". This also has a literary meaning which is "From the very beginning."
Ovo refers to egg. Ovoid is egg-shaped. I am not Swiss, so I do not know what Ovo refers to, but it may be egg. Perhaps egg-white protein snacks.
the german christmas cookies that you ate in another video are called lebkuchen, its a kind of gingerbread but a bit different i guess :)
Cheese straws are the best!
シンイチさん、キャンディキャンディはハワイでも放送されてたんですか⁈ 見た事はないけど私も歌えます🤣
そうなんですよ。子供のころ、よく妹といっしょにみてました。^^
