- College football fans will be tested this weekend. Mike and Rico want to know if you are still in love with college football? #football #collegefootball
I always appreciate how Mike bags on the morning shows for having folks on the Michigan payroll when his sidekick is on the MSU payroll.
Fr! Rico doesn’t have an unbiased bone in his body.. overly optimistic about MSU and never gives Michigan credit until left with no choice
After that Sparty showing, that love of the game is going to drop tremendously.
Mike you hit the nail on the head with the current state of college football
Dropped our season tix at MSU after almost 50 years. Watching at home was nice and it felt less stressful having to worry about driving and spending all day away from home.
Look at someone who loved college sports. Esp football. I truly feel that gambling, NIL and the portal have absolutely destroyed the sport. At this point i can’t believe it was less than 10 years ago i knew all of the recruits and all of the details of the team. i went from that to not even watching most games. I just fell out of love with the sport.
🙌 👍 👏!!! The collapse of the Big East a decade ago was the start. I too, just like you used to know all the recruits and schedules. Couldn’t wait for college football and basketball. I always thought there should be some compensation for the players but at the same time, it was still about academics at these schools. It wasn’t until the major conference realignment in 2014 that really changed the landscape of college athletics. I feel the portal is more damaging than NIL. You have starters from Power 5 (now 4) schools leaving for better NIL. There should transfer restrictions for players.
NO, the purity of college football is long gone! 5 Reasons: Big 10 expanding past the original 10, not playing every team in your conference (mathematically impossible now anyway), powerhouse programs paying garbage teams like OSU vs Akron, the transfer portal, and NIL (a free $300+k education should suffice) Greed always wins...
Michigan Derangement Syndrome is strong. I don’t like the game that much anymore. I used to love reading the Athlon preview magazine cover to cover. I don’t even know who plays for my team anymore. A starter from the previous season isn’t there anymore. Not from the NFL draft, but because the NCAA has a new free agent period. Pick one or the other, you can’t have both…Do you want to be paid or freedom of movement? You want to be paid, sign a contract to a certain school. You want to have freedom of movement, you can’t be paid.
I do still like it, but I don’t love it. I wish I did. Because when I loved it, it was so much more fun. A great escape.
I can enjoy it in some way until the kids are not even students at the university anymore. This talk about private equity buying the naming rights for smaller schools and running the teams... I mean what even is that Frankenstein nonsense.
There's capitalism and then there's simple unhinged corporate greed...this would be the latter
I can appreciate the talent but no, I can't be paid to care unless MSU is good
Very excited about Aiden Chiles. Why does 97.1 always talk about baseball when nobody likes baseball lmao. Just old people. Nobody I know watches any baseball at all 😂😂😂😂
I know a ton of people who watch baseball
Unfortunately there actually are a lot of people who find watching grass grow entertaining.
Wrong
To be honest Detroit is a tiger town. The old English D is the tigers logo and everyone where’s a D hat mostly to represent the city or D shirts, or D tattoos which is actually the tigers logo.
NIL and Portal ruined college football for me.
I’d say the NHL and college football were always my top two. Last year was the perfect storm and the levees broke. MSU had yet another scandal and has proven themselves to be a bunch of incompetent, bumbling clowns with no leadership. Michigan gets away with blatant, over-the-top cheating with another in-state school facilitating the collusion. AND an undefeated power five team gets omitted for more popular matchups and the almighty dollar. CFB is the WWE . I haven’t watched yet and I don’t think I plan to much if at all.
I mostly agree with you except the Michigan part. Just STOP! They never had a significant advantage. Even the NCAA said the title was legit, no questions asked.
@@fredleinweber2819You can believe whatever you like - truly, but aren’t they actually currently in the process of asking LOTS of questions? We’ll see how history judges what happened. One thing I am sure of though is I know what your reaction would have been if the roles were reversed.
Michigan was a better fit for the CFP than FSU and so was Alabama.. so glad Michigan got to beat Bama instead of FSU.. the FSU argument needs to be put to bed
@@robe9075 Michigan fans sure do like to try and tell the rest of us what questions are allowed to be asked and what “needs” to happen. Why?
@@Hocktopus_329 because you sound so dumb thinking UM vs FSU would’ve been competitive at all.. also y’all were quite optimistic if you thought the SEC champs were getting left out of the CFP
