I agree that there is this problem in the Christian churches, but it is not identical to Christian Atheism. Christian Atheism is formally defined as believing in Jesus but not in the existence of God (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_atheism). You might want to look into Slavoj Žižek, a prominent philosopher in this area. Jeff rightly identifies many of the traits that are similar to Christian Atheism, but I am concerned here that his important message will be disregarded as a kind of confusion or misconception about Christian Atheism. I think what Jeff is talking about here is closer to Christian apathy.
