It looks really good vegetable taco pasta
Step up the tomatoes sauce by adding the tomatoe paste after onions are soft and dry herbs cook out. The oil will really develop the flavors.
Then add chicken stock and then tomatoes.
Give it a try... you will be impressed by what the order of ingredients does.
I grew up with parents that didn’t have much money, so my dad was the absolute BEST at $5 and $10 dinners for the four of us😊Thanks for these ideas!

I grew up in a poor family and we had 5 kids to feed, so we were always cooking cheap meals
It's not even about being poor.There are great meals that just dont cost alot.A pot of chilli can be made for about 10 dollars. I love chilli from scratch.
I’m so glad you incorporated frozen and/or fresh veggies into your meals. Many budget recipe videos seem so unhealthy or don’t use veggies or fruit, and I really like that you’re being mindful of that in this video. Thanks, these are great meal ideas!

Usually people who make budget meals think of quantity, not quality. If they were to make quality and eat less it still works out. It isn't really the recipe makers fault. Food insecurity causes it. I'm using these recipes to help me with food insecurity.
I agree nutrition is important to me as well as saving money.

Take it from an Italian girl…add a little bit of sugar to that Marinara sauce to cut the acidity from all the tomatoes.

The last recipe my mom used to make regularly. She called it "Cowboy Salad" . The base was the same as yours but she would top it with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives and sour cream. Then drizzle Catalina dressing on top. It was actually really good! Forgot about until now.
Oh yeah that's like the original taco salad made with Doritoes. Yummy.

Be careful putting hot stuff in the blender, steam can build pressure under the lid blowing the top off. Next thing you know, you have marinara on the ceiling.
Yeah, maybe do that as the first step and then heat it through on the stove

Try adding a taco sauce for a base, add in black beans as well. Add on lettuce and sour cream...yummy
Tostadas are a childhood classic! If you've got a nice sunny window to grow herbs, fresh cilantro is a perfect addition. When I cook with bay leaves I always serve with the bay leaf still in. Whoever gets it in their bowl is supposed to receive good luck :)
Never go wrong with spaghetti on a budget!

I'm a household of one. Cooking for me is so unappealing, so much so that I've eaten out for like, the past 5 years straight. Your channel is not only budget friendly (and not just saying you are and then actually buying several expensive ingrdients), it makes cooking for 1 less of a chore, less hard for me to accept spending a lot at the store for just me (don't know why I have guilt?), and it's keeping me from going out and eating crap. Mmmmmmmm, Ranch Style Beans. First had those as a teenager when my family moved to Texas. I was like, "Where you been all my life?" So good.
I like to put a litt BBQ sauce in my ranch style beans, with a little oil, salt, pepper, and a little garlic powder. It's good.
I like the one with jalapeño slices, I make quesadillas with them, well we’ll drained, corn tortillas with a bit of cheese to hold it together, fried in butter. It’s not diet food, but once and a while…..😋

You always have such great recipes! Wanted to mention for any who like the flavor of meat, but maybe it's out of the budget for every meal, save the grease from cooking sausage or ground beef, etc. You can use it to cook something else, or use it to help flavor a rice/veggie dish (my favorite use). Cook with the rice in the water, or mix into the rice when it's done with whatever herbs and spices make you happy.
Where are you shopping that you can get a half pound of ground beef AND a pack of tortillas AND a can of refried beans AND cheese for $5? Cuz I need to start shopping there.

Freeto Pie is amazing! We made it from the traditional recipe back in the 70's. I forgot about it for about 20 years until Pintrest. Now my kids love it.

We have taco meat about once a month. It’s a treat for my family because taco meat is very expensive. We have the first meal you made often but just make bean and cheese pizzas.
