Most of these machines have cellular antennas on the backs of them, I'd guess for remote administration and payment authorization. That could open up some fun if you could call into one!
If I had as many DVDs, I'd buy a Redbox without the credit card issue so when I'm done with a movie, I just put it back in the machine so I don't have to organize the thing myself. When I want a DVD, I don't need to run around the house finding it. Instead, just a push of a button and the machine coughts it up
This video is great and will assist me greatly in a new project I'm working on that allows you to circumvent redbox security and get free rentals. I will release a video about this as soon as I'm finished. Thanks very much for the help!
Windows embedded: *goes to the kiosk where Windows XP is working* Also windows embedded: oh hey windows XP isn’t it funny how we keep running into each other like me and vista Windows XP: yes. * proceeds to give him his Croods DVD * Windows embedded: also it’s kind of cold I out here XP: yea, I hate winter. (I plan on making this an actual animation series)
I personally think the Blockbuster Express kiosk is a better system, knowing who designed it. The computer in the bottom left is a standard Dell Optiplex system.
I used one of these things for the first time in my life about 4 hours ago...and this shows up in my recommended vids out of the blue. THEY'RE AFTER ME!!!!
Mom2cats22 Wow that's alot. I would use one of these to hold all my DVDs and rig it so you can pick a movie and it shows info about the movie and plays the trailer, and if it's the one you want to watch you press a button and it spits it out and you can watch it. Of course with no payment, just pick and watch.
If u rent movies or games from this machince, before returning it take the sticker off the movies/game n put it on top of a blank disk and return that instead, and u have a new movie/game now.
@Greenstorm33 I had a similar experience when a friend brought a printer, a box fan and some diodes to my door. The nest day, it was like, "Build a turbine." So I did. lol
Consider where people watch movies in their homes. Either on sofas or in bed. Then they lay that little box down for their bed bugs to crawl in. They return it to red box then you rent it. Do you wonder why bed bugs are the fastest growing infestation in America?
If the box is already full, it would inform you that it can no longer accept any movies for return. It will also tell you to try returning it at a different kiosk.
Redbox is fine in everything but there's some flaws. for one what if half of the people rent from one machine and return it to another. also what if you get a disk that's unplayable because lets face alot of people are just plan ignorant and don't care. like this fat guy who walked out of a Subway Restaurant bathroom without flushing the toilet or even turning off the sink..!
WOW! The mystery, horror, humor, drama, and action of the magical robotic arm set off a car alarm!!

Since they got bankrupt I got my hands on a machine
I’m so happy this video exists. My curiosity was KILLING me. 😄😄

Finally, I can die in peace.
@Humaninsoul We don't have many movie rental stores anymore. Instead, we just have these at different major stores, like walmart.

Dang, that's awesome. I thought it just goes in some magical land of redbox world and stays there until someone rents it.
I used one of these things for the first time in my life about 4 hours ago...and this shows up in my recommended vids out of the blue. THEY'RE AFTER ME!!!!
Neat. and look at all those DVDs. id almost put one of these in my living room and use it as a revolving DVD rack.
So it's like an old jukebox, nice. they should put a window on the side so you can watch it.
i always tought it magically turns tiny and it sends matter through wifi to other redboxes to put the movie back so others can watch it
next question how tall/heavy/wide is a redbox machine and is it bolted to the ground
But where does the 6.5 mHz crystal go?
@wiccanmoonman I wish Redbox starts streaming videos to consoles. I hate having to use netflix.
Does anyone know how many DVDs these things can hold?
Last year we added an 8th deck so now they hold roughly 720 discs.

+coondogtheman1234 most of us have those, they are called hard drives.
Legend813a
Some of us still buy/have DVDs.
Mom2cats22
I don't have that many DVDs but I could put my video game discs in there too. I'd like it to take standard DVD cases though.
Very cool design.

lok0605 Suuuure, then they have your credit card information and charge you for the disc 😄 good luck with that

LOL at 0:04 it almost looked like he was holding a red Netflix envelope.
Ok so if we can invent this why can't we make cars that dont need gas
Bungis
the alarm at the end. somebody got car jacked!!
good thing he brushed off his hands!

can u still get the new style redbox boxes to boot to XP? :3 LOL
Awesome.
Finally can rest easy.
I want one.
That looks cool
That is really something.
Hello RedBox I'm in a complicated relationship with Netflix right now, wanna go out for dinner lol
what happens when the Red box gets too full of movies and games?
Austin Pieschel Every now and then red box workers (like my dad, this is how I know this) replace the dvds and games, to keep it up to datr
If the box is already full, it would inform you that it can no longer accept any movies for return. It will also tell you to try returning it at a different kiosk.
did you just say... coolness?
"it's golden"
@nargeta2 lol i came from that same video! lmao
@Lamb00FGoD he's been dead for like a year... :(
that's cool
ayea look@that, thatz cool lol'z
@she79col good one! XD
Netflix is cheaper, more convienant, more selection and red box breaks down too often.
lester Netflix doesn't have new movies though, and red box only breaks down when someone punches the screen or something tbh
I used to have Netflix but like you say it's actually not a good place for renting new DVD's.
@liveon Red Box Ho - The Movie

METALMAN4Wii You can return the dvd to whatever red box you want to
Redbox is out of business.
