This clip has always resonated with me but especially since my father passed away in January 2018. When he says you “don’t need to manufacture the sadness, my hearts broken. My fathers dead” that is so true. So many people try to force people to “let their emotions out” when they’re not crying too much outwardly or to restrain themselves and snap out of it if they’re crying too much. Whether it’s shown externally or not, anyone who experiences this magnitude of a loss is perpetually crying on the inside. Craig shed light on this in a way that no other late night host ever would. He showed the world that the grieving process is both healthy and necessary and also that it can’t just be swept under the rug. Thank you Craig. Both of your parents are looking down at you proud of who you are.
Craig's a really great guy. He can be funny and clown around but he can be really serious and personal when he needs to be. Any dad would be proud to have a son like him
My father passed away earlier this year at 92 and I miss him everyday. Thank you, Craig for a touching, funny and heartfelt tribute. Your words and your love for your dad touch my heart.
I recently saw your eulogy for your mother and now for your dad. Please accept my deepest sympathy. My mom was born 12/8/28 in Cumnock and my dad 2/23/33 in Maybole. When you spoke of your mom and dad being together, it was beautiful. My mom passed away 25 years before my dad. The last time I saw him he was only looking at their wedding picture. He spoke to me but only saw her. The day of his funeral, it was such a beautiful day. The light was perfect it was golden. You could feel that they were were together once more. Thank you for sharing with us
My father died this week. My heart's broken too. He, like Craig, was a recovering alcoholic. I knew he helped others with sobriety, but I didn't know it was hundreds of people.
My father died of a heart attack in june of 2023. It's feb. 2024, now. He was 87. Still got around good. We would go to the movies together. I miss that, all the time. He was the best. Funny and nice. A great guy.
I think Craig is awesome, he's really kind of educating us more about Scotland, considering a lot of people have Scottish roots--myself included--and he's genuinely a great person, I love him. I know we're lucky to have him here in America
I'm from Glasgow myself and I think it's amazing that all this local Scottish humour's gettin' aired on American telly. He's right about the wake, I remember my Grandad's; he was called a "daft el git" more than once. I should probably feel bad for Craig, but this is really very funny. He's a top lad for sure.
Going from this amazing man to James Corden must rank as the biggest downgrade in television history. Craig Ferguson was hilarious and honest in every way.... Pretty much the opposite of Corden.
I know this is wicked old. Nevertheless, as someone who had to watch his wicked old dad die, dang Mr. Ferguson doing his adroit thing certainly was a treat.
I lost my Dad to cancer in 2002. I still tell stories about him, or his "Dad-isms"... Opinions are like assholes Son, Everyone has one, and they all stink. Requiescat in Pace Dad.. And to Fergeson's parents.
I have noticed that people who are foreign from where I live, but have an 'intermediate' accent, tend to switch back when they are angry or upset. It may be the same for Craig as well :(
Now I understand Scott's saying that he's lost his Scottish accent because this is the first show I've ever seen of his, and I've seen between 7 to 800 episodes in full, where I'm actually having trouble understanding some of the words he is saying and I've never had trouble before with him
Tbh, I think it was more because it was an earlier show where he still had a much thicker accent. Remember, this was only Jan 2006 and in the early shows he has a relatively thick accent compared to the most recent shows
He is sutch a nice person! YOu don't see many people coming to tv and talk like he does! And i just notices that he's loosing is accent! I miss is accent
I love Craig Ferguson and found it VERY SAD...THE BEST he could find was a GAME SHOW!!???? Which I WILL not watch! Craig is better than that....I hope he gets his shit together and finds something meaningful.
His friend Drew had to help him get it (which they had to put down some of their own money for). Both him and Drew don't get a lot of offers because they don't lick the government's boots.
Some...? Quite a lot o' truth. Though, to be fair, Craig hasn't exactly "lost" his accent completely. Ah hate to say it but... Craig's accent has become "Americanised" in recent years. By which, ah mean, not as prominent or strong as it once was. Which is kinda a shame... He sounds a lot better on the older videos, doesn't he? But then, maybe am biased - being Scottish maself. Hahaha!
“My heart’s broken…my father’s dead.” Such raw emotion. Only Craig.
There are something’s that need to bring to the surface.
I’m glad that Craig spoke from his heart. I felt very empathetic to his story.

It all really happens for a reason, Pat
I come here whenever I feel my day was terrible... thanks Craig :')
Every night I watch the show on youtube to feel better and to have a good laugh when I go to sleep. I miss you still, Craig...
he still does comedy
Same in 21..lol..going to bed listening to cf..relaxing somehow x
Craig's a really great guy. He can be funny and clown around but he can be really serious and personal when he needs to be. Any dad would be proud to have a son like him
He is human version of hit sitcom Scrubs
My father passed away earlier this year at 92 and I miss him everyday. Thank you, Craig for a touching, funny and heartfelt tribute. Your words and your love for your dad touch my heart.
Sorry for your loss, hope you're doing okay, and hope your father lived a full life❤.
His admiration for his father was refreshing and loving.
this is why i love craig.. he is not a clown laughing at everything... he can be serious and get personal... i really do respect this guy
Love your honesty, humor and applaud your recovery. One day @ a time
Craig is the best. From the heart, funny and though he had to be on camera everyone that loved his family was laughing along with us.

That's so beautiful and poignant. Hope you're doing okay❤.
6:40 touches me each time I listen to it. This monologue was really coming from the heart.
It's 💕
My father died this week. My heart's broken too. He, like Craig, was a recovering alcoholic. I knew he helped others with sobriety, but I didn't know it was hundreds of people.
My condolences.
Sorry to hear man

I'm sorry for your loss ❤
Craig's parents must be so fucking proud with all the lives he's touched and changed.
It also seems that whenever he talks about his father or some things from Scotland the accent REALLY kicks in
Miss the show so much. :(
I watch this once every couple years, it's touching, loving, and just melts my heart. Love to you.
Same here 💔
I love it when he speaks from the heart, just beautiful
I missed this show, glad I got the chance to see it. Sad day for the Craig, losing a loved one is never easy
what a fucking lad. From Wales with love, Craig
Wonderful tribute that brought tears to my eyes. RIP Mr. Ferguson.
I've always admired Craig for being such an honest person for the camera.
Craig, we are so fortunate to have you as a citizen, there may be help for us after all. we love you.
I admire him so much, for a lot of reasons. This is one of them.I don't know if I could do what he did.So much love here.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Amazing that CBS let him do it.
Always brings a smile to my face
It's always amazing to hear these stories about non-Americans talk about their dreams and love for America. Beautiful.
I think Craig is awesome, he's really kind of educating us more about Scotland, considering a lot of people have Scottish roots--myself included--and he's genuinely a great person, I love him. I know we're lucky to have him here in America
Gotta give this man a big thumbs up... Both of my parents are still alive but I know I couldn't do stuff like this when they're gone...
He loved his father so much. It's faaaacking beautiful ❤️

love this and his book, great stuff!
OMG I love this! His accent is sooooo Scottish in this one.
Wonderful job. Lovely family knew his sister very well.
God bless you Craig. I'm sorry. I feel terrible for you. I lost my father too but really never knew him. He was a hard worker too. God bless us all
His accent is so much thicker compared to the end of the series
I'm certain Mr. Robert Ferguson was damn proud of the hard-working, fine American, son, Craig had become.
What a gorgeous example of human life. Take that ya heartless bastards who run the world. We haven’t forgotten.
It's not really until you see old videos of the late late show that you realize there is some truth in the 'Craig has "lost"his accent'-talk...
Greatest late night host since Johnny Carson. Craig never got his due.
I could listen to him for hours..
your father sounds like an amazing man. like my dad, a strong traditional Scot
Happy Birthday to Craig's father.
March 17, 2012.
My friend (who was born and raised in the USA) switches to a South African accent when he talks to his mother (who lived there for a long time).
I can't believe how different he sounds now
Going from this amazing man to James Corden must rank as the biggest downgrade in television history. Craig Ferguson was hilarious and honest in every way.... Pretty much the opposite of Corden.
I want to give Craig a hug
I know this is wicked old. Nevertheless, as someone who had to watch his wicked old dad die, dang Mr. Ferguson doing his adroit thing certainly was a treat.

His Scottish accent is in full force in this monologue...even more so than the one where he eulogized his mother.
Man this was sad.....rip
I have noticed that people who are foreign from where I live, but have an 'intermediate' accent, tend to switch back when they are angry or upset. It may be the same for Craig as well :(
this aired on my birthday.
He sounds SO much more Scottish here. :)
Amazing how his accent changed !

sad hes of fair better than tonite show etc
I was thinking the same thing
Tbh, I think it was more because it was an earlier show where he still had a much thicker accent. Remember, this was only Jan 2006 and in the early shows he has a relatively thick accent compared to the most recent shows
Plus he had just been home so his accent would be more pronounced.
Craig will never get me tooed.
1. He's just too good of a guy.
2. All the ladies want him anyway.
3. They all end up crying at this story.
He didn't "switch back." This was from 2006.
Should not have quit... Corden who?
I miss the wee lad...and his rabbit.
He is sutch a nice person! YOu don't see many people coming to tv and talk like he does!
And i just notices that he's loosing is accent! I miss is accent

Both him and Drew don't get a lot of offers because they don't lick the government's boots.
Sounds much better, doesn't it?
@LudwigZhi Yeah I've noticed he tends to do that when he speaks about serious stuff =)
Yeah but you gotta keep in mind this was 6 years ago so he's accent is bound to have changed over time.
Saor Alba!
the fact that there are no dislikes gives me hope for humanity :)
Some...? Quite a lot o' truth. Though, to be fair, Craig hasn't exactly "lost" his accent completely. Ah hate to say it but... Craig's accent has become "Americanised" in recent years. By which, ah mean, not as prominent or strong as it once was. Which is kinda a shame...

Graeme Kanu
2 people have no soul.
Anybody noticed he switched back to Scottish accent from his usual sort of "intermediate" accent?
someone didnt have a daddy
that's not funny
