I feel like this would be much more of an issue if the characters didn't have such distinctive animations. From 50m away, I do not see what color skins the characters have, I mostly notice the animations and skeletal structure of the characters. When they are close enough for "close range" you can easily tell who is which. These skins are cool, I don't see any issues that could arise from these or any heat of the moment mistakes in game.
We actually talk about that specifically more in the outro/final thoughts. I think for people who play a lot it probably won't be an issue for the reasons you've mentioned. I'm more concerned for the more casual or average-ish player who may not have as much time in game and may not notice all of the animations and little details that make them distinct. I think for more casual players they are more likely to understand who they are fighting based on the abilities they use, rather than from details that are more observable over time. Probably means it wouldn't be as much of an issue close range, but at a distance it could make things less clear on who they are about to face.

Some of the coloration could be more helpful to someone who is less experienced - especially with more iconic skins. At a lower level players may be used to seeing a default octane or default alter etc, and thus become confused as they do not yet have the experience to determine what the animations represent.
It isnt about the outfit. We read characters by movement. My blind ass never recognizes what a character is wearing, but see how Octanes arms move while running? Lifeline for instances kinda plops around its almost kinda cute how she walks and runs. They all have very unique mannerisms while traversing the maps.
This is something I have actually complained about with mirage looking like octane when he has the silver robot kind of skin.... I have also noticed an increase of me calling out the wrong legend being cracked just to see a different name appearing in the feed.

Where people are looking for a skin that would make them less likely to be noticed at certain corners. This's something new and fresh, so I wouldn't pressure legends for theirs cosplay fashion. Though, hope devs won't let it go too far.
The scenario you guys brought up about being engaged in a fight and getting confused by the skins that happened to me last night I broke a Rev pushed up and shot the dude just for him to be now on purple armor full health (it was a conduit 😢) the Rev had pushed way back and she swung out in front and completely threw me for a loop
Overall I think most of it is pretty cool and the concerns we raised will likely have little impact in the bigger picture. I do wish Lifeline got her own identity though, like Loba's armor is distinctively a wolf/wolf themed for example.
I don't think anyone really reads characters by their colours/extra details on the characters skins that much (respawn knows this and models their legend skins close enough to not stray too far from its original silhoutte). Cause if that were the case, they wouldn't be skins in apex at all esp in apex tournaments for competitive integrity. If it really mattered that skins were impacting your fights substantially, I suggest playing valorant because they don't have character skins there.
i hate the hitbox situation in Apex, you can't really enjoy the movement for large hitbox characters like Gibby, Newcastle, Vantage, Caustic etc. its pointless to do movement cause its not gonna do much. Daniel Z Klein the previous lead developer said if his team could change something that they really regret its the hitbox of the legends, if they could only reverse it all but its all too late. Then here comes the new Lead developer he did the exact opposite, adding large legends to the game, making them hard to balance, hence low pick rates and interest from players like me who loves to enjoy playing other legends aswell. The OG developers said it already at the start of the game, its a shooter fps first then abilities second, that's why hitbox is important no matter buffs or nerfs they do in a legend, its still not balanced if the hitbox are all different.
The only big hitbox legend that was added to the game since DZ Klein left was Newcastle. And nobod really knows if he wasn't in development before Klein's departure from the team. I think it's wrong to blame the current devs for an issue that they have nothing to do with. I agree that different hitboxes in a BR is kinda stupid, since it makes a huge difference even with the fortified-perk and stuff. But there's not much they can do now about it.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was like a precursor to testing universal prestige skins or something. That sounds like a lot of work to design so I don't know if they'd actually go that far. I guess it depends on how well they think they'd sell.
The purpose of this was mostly to review distinct appearances of the characters and whether or not there should be concern with readability between different legends, not review the skins or any related animations. I'm sure if enough people supported Dazs reviewing the skins as you have suggested though he'd make a video
Yeah, I don't review skins. I focus on educational side. This would be on readability of a legend and in a hot fight can you tell who is who quickly. Really only reason this video exist.

This have been a problem for so long. Some legend skin have too big of a difference than the og skin that it is hard to tell who that is
Well on the other hand if you want to all of your squad to use the same skins you can if you use these skins, that's one aspect I like about them...
