Who doesn’t love Patrice?!
Doesn't age at all ❤❤❤
One of my favorite Patrice Rushen songs!!!! She is criminally underrated as a musician and composer!!! It's so cool to hear Marcus playing bass on this song!!!
He was all smiles in that cut, i would be too, she is a Goddess.
Underrated by whom, Sir? People that don't matter. Not that I matter in the argument but I got my money on Patrice 7 days a week!!! Twice on Sundays.
Patrice is one of the greatest pianists, composers, arrangers. and singers.
Patrice is soo under rated... 🌹
Man, Patrice, Marcus and Paul all in the same room together. Now that makes for magic!
LOVE YOU PATRICE RUSHEN!!!! Big fan from afros & blue jeans, through micro braids & beads, to now! BRILLIANT artists are often under rated because they are committed to the art, not being a celebrity.
💯
Jazz Empress Patrice!! One of the greatest jazz pianists that ever lived!! Thank God she is still in the " Land of the Living"!! Been adoring her music for the last 40-plus years!!
She has always been an incredible artist
A star, a former neighbor, underrated but highly appreciated by many
Some people forget just how good a pianist Ms Rushen really is. Saw her a few years back at a Rare Groove Comp gig at the Indigo, London.
She's even holding back here.
Hear her work on Jean Luc Ponty's Aurora from 1975.
Yes was there too, and glad she repped her jazz side, even though the crowd wanted her popular hits. Our(my) first musical wife.
@@Madscience81 the crowd were not happy because it wasn't focused enough on #RareGroove as was billed.
I liked it - as I like Fusion but I totally understand how people felt.
She's good at everything
Badd!! The funkiest lady on the black and white keys..."forget her not" folks RESPECT always ..✌🏾
Man this lady was BAD from day uno. I love all her tunes. Been a fan for decades. Keep us GROOVING chick. You're the MA'AM, MA'AM👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
Love ms Rushen
My Guitar Hero Paul Jackson Jr
I give you a secret. Few people know that first the iconic Patrice Rushen is jazz woman. Yes she grow up and play jazz. But at the time jazzman didn’t give her the place she deserve in jazz music. With these strong bases she composed an wrote wonderfull modern jazz, jazz rock, and jazz funk. It’s how her music is so good.
Don't make stuff up. She has been at the forefront of music since she was 17. She's an ambassador for Berklee and is the first woman to become director of music for the Grammys. She's been a solo artist with hot songs, film scores she's done it all.
Hear her piano solo on " The Gardens of Babylon" on Jean Luc Ponty's 75 album "Aurora" Playing with JLP at that young age !
Early in his career Ms Rushen also taught the late great Prince much about engineering, mixing, etc. in the studio. It has been rumored that Prince's song "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was made in her honor.
It's no secret at all.
@@khaldounelbey3968 Was about to bring up how evidently Prince completely had the hots for her (I do as well, goddess) and she politely declined...
Awesome Marcus Miller, Patrice Rushen, Eric Marienthal, Paul Jackson Jr….
Saw Jeff Lorber a number of times over the decades-and I have a number of his recordings-he is one of my all-time favorite jazz/funk/fusion artists-but when I saw Patrice playing the keyboards about ten years ago(from a recorded video performance of her in concert; where and when I don't remember), I was blown away by the level of ability she had attained to on the instrument-she was even better than Jeff Lorber-and I don't think I had seen anybody better than him for quite a while!
No doubt about it-she is definitely one of the most underrated keyboardists/pianists of our time(could it be because she's female-and Black?)...mad props to Patrice Rushen! 11-8-23.
Patrice make a DISCO world tour please .....you have written too many disco-funk songs that the world needs to enjoy live :-)

She makes it look so effortlessly easy. Thanx for this groove….
As a bass player, I would start at track one, practice every song on the album ( I'd repeat 'Forget Me Nots' a few times before going to the next song), and then start over again...

Those Roland Fantoms she is playing are the best sounding boards I've played and owned in a while. It has some features that no other keyboard does.

Nice Piece in Underground Magazine Wax Poetics w/ interview recently for the 40 yr. anni of "Straight from the Heart" for those of you whom may/should be interested here. Great words & photographs some unseen before.
Patrice!!! Love ya mama!!!!
A++++
Patrice & Marcus Miller.. Classic
It's pretty simple: I see Patrice Rushen I put my like😎 Such a classy and talented musician she is! 😍👏
She is completely beautiful
This incredible talented woman is a gift to the world. BOSS!!!
She is famous all over Los Angeles as a Locke High School graduate. Also, with Marcus on stage is the famous Paul Jackson, Jr. The music industry does not support real musicians. It only supports rappers and vocalists.
As soon as I heard the guitar I said somebody been listening to my uncle Wah Wah Watson and then I see Paul Jackson Jr!!!!!!!! Great groove some of favorite musicians on this video!!!!!
I think I remember you posting about him on some other videos, right? And you should, he was awesome. Having a guitarist who can really groove elevates a tune so much. Listen to how much the groove on this changes when she starts her piano solo, and all that’s missing is the guitar part. As soon as he comes back in, it starts bouncing again. Very cool. And any video or anything you have on your uncle, post it! Would love to see it.
@@mrufino1 Thanks and yes it probably was me! So proud of what he accomplished! I hear unc on the radio pretty much everyday or his influence!! Paul was mentored by my uncle and were really good friends!!
@@djcoolcliff awesome! He played on Papa was a Roling Stone, right? Or was that Dennis Coffey? But certainly your uncle has graced so many songs where that one is him or not.
I’m a bassist and I love songs where the bass just holds the fort and lets everyone else paint on top of that.
Edit: I just found the video, it was the headhunters Live video and it was you that commented. Awesome! Keep his name known.
@@mrufino1 Yes that’s him on Pa Pa Was a Rolling Stone. He played on Let’s Get It On and Car Wash too!
For real bro!!
Paul Jackson as a guitarist...respect (he was Michael Jackson's guitarist amongst others)
