21:53 (Warning: Loud)… This is one of the most hilarious Bawk moments of all time. First, Bawk shows how masterful he is at environmental/brand comedy, totally scaring the hell out of everyone in chat and they’re like… “WTF?!?! WHY did you just scream?!?!?”, then after he answers, they collectively laugh and say that’s fair.
This games jumpscare scared my cats so badly they got into a fight and now hate each other to the point where we have to slowly reintroduce them to each other all over again. 10/10 game
This game in VR would blow my nuts off. I really hope they get a lot of feedback and can improve this even more, but for now it's already a good game. People really need to stop acting like tough little rambos and just give stuff like this an honest try. I loved watching it and know if played by myself would get me startled greatly.
The scare in the plane got me, the rest was pretty mediocre. And I do have arachnophobia but the spiders, as bugged as they are, aren't even creepy or anything. Overall just a very meh experience, but I too am pretty desensitized to jumpscares.
I'm assuming the reason the first person doesn't grab you is due to climactic build up, it seems like they are going for small stuff at the start and it gets 'bigger' as the time drops down
What about when you move your mouse to quickly while getting jumpscared then game over There needs to be more pressure on the player because it’s easy just not to scream
Yeah, I agree it would be nice if it entered at least a cutscene or there were varying deaths by enemies. Your cause of death in game would be heart attack (unless the cam falling means the cameraman can now die).
This would make for a good party game, but I have no idea how they would code the game to not trigger the scream mechanic off of the game sounds. But conceptually, having some girls over for Halloween and nobody can make a sound or you lose would be kind of fun. There would be that one guy who would fart at like 2 seconds at the end.
Don't Scream? More like Don't Talk or Don't Whisper Loudly with these settings. Anyhow, implementing sound from a person is a pretty cool idea in a game like this. But the implementation is pretty trash. It only measures by loudness, it shouldn't have been too hard to differentiate between different types of noises so that regular talking doesn't just insta-kill you.
The little screen at the start says "you should be able to speak only quietly, not loudly. Slight gasps or minor sounds should register as screams. This designs enhances the challenge." I guess you *could* just lower the sensitivity so you have to scream proper, but I don't think that's what the devs wanted.
@@peaberry9413 Still doesn't change the fact that it only responds to how loud a sound is, not what kind of sound it is. And I don't think it enhances the challenge. Lots of people have sounds happening around them. Setting it at a 'perfect' sensitivity for your voice so you can whisper would still make it go off if one of your neighbours bonks on the wall for some reason or if children were playing outside just being children.
@@VichyGlitterGun Various programs have very good things to cut away certain sounds. Nvidia is pretty much the lead runner in this tech. Could also be done in pretty simple ways. Like have the player calibrate their regular talking voice, gasping sounds, scream sounds, etc in advance. Not saying it wouldn't up the complexity, but I do think it would be beneficial to the experience.
It's an interesting idea, but it doesn't even remotely match my personal definition of scary. Being scared requires tension, anxiety, fear..... while a truly good jumpscare with all the right buildup can potentially manage this, in my experience jumpscares do nothing more than startle. They're the equivalent of that one bully who goes to punch you in the face, but stops at the last moment and mocks you for being "scared" cause you flinched.... that's just an automatic reaction, that's not being scared. I think a game like this could possibly be really good, but only really for soloplay for all the reasons you listed, most viewers would find it boring. The only way I can think of to make it entertaining for the viewer would require a very good speech recognition programme that can either handle all languages and accents, or that you can train yourself on your speech pattern. The way that you'd then make it entertaining is with a full story, NPC's, the works, and you the player are required to read the protagonists lines as you play. That way you entertain the viewers with your own personal voice acting, as well as getting yourself immersed in the character and their world by becoming a part of it. I just don't know if voice recognition is quite there yet [I'm always amazed by just how accurate my fire tv is with voice searches, but it still fails from time to time, especially if the word is foreign to my language.]

Plottwist: The monsters and such in this forest are all trying to sleep, so you have to keep quiet or they get cranky.

So it's a game designed for streaming that actively discourages the streamer from engaging with their audience?
turn your mic off 😂
