The printer stopped grabbing paper after a paper jam. Tried everything and my husband finally took it apart (extended warranty has completely expired). After 2 hours of unnecessary dismantling, we discovered the problem: the two little gears that operate the rollers ON THE UNDERSIDE of the printer were not connected. No tools required: All you have to do is turn the printer upside down, and take the paper tray out. you will see the 2 gray rollers and the gears in middle that aren't connected (one is white, the other is black). With the paper tray facing you, the white gear will be on the right and the black gear will be on the left. ALL the way to the left you should see an open compartment. There's an axle shaft that you can move inside that compartment that will push the two gears together. Viola! Fixed! :)
Is this for the black one shown in the video? I have an older model that is beige. Hoping a HP rep is still reading and can point me to where I can find info on the older beige model. I don't see a way to remove the paper tray from the model I have.
Thanks for your response. I've tried all those options with no positive result. In addition to that, the printer should have warranty on it as it was replaced several months ago with the current one. However, when checking for warranty it doesn't get recognised as eligible for warranty support. I really have no clue what to do, we still have several cartridges and the cardrive is very costly for me as it takes me well over an hour to find a HP support center. Please advise.
In addition to my previous comment to this message: each time I try to print the status report, the printer is saying I need to change my cartridges. However, they're new and that doesn't explain why the paper doesn't go in all the way.
I've tried this fix on my 5512, but it didn't have an effect. Upon further inspection, I noticed my pick-up rollers aren't even rolling. Any suggestions?
I am really having issues. I have cleaned and troubleshooted as specified. The documents and the settings are set correctly. It sounds like it is printing but the paper just stays there!
I have a HP Photosmart 8050 and after trying all these processes, my computer ask me to install the drivers and since I am working on Windows 10 (64 bit) I receive the message that I can't re install the printer from the CD I have. What should I do?
So i bought a hp photosmart 5515, when i turn the printer on, the top rollers starts spinning like crazy and the paper does not feed into the printer. I dont want the printer to burn out so i stop the printer after 20seconds and then a puff of smoke comes out of the bottom left where the cartridges are. Any other solutions that i could try?
My HP photosmart printer 5512 will not print black inK, I tried doing all of the cleaning settings on the printer, I even cleaned the small screens will a damp lint free clothe and restarted the computer several times as well as completely unplugging the unit cords I dont know what else to do Im getting extremely irritated this computer is only about a year old and I only use it when I need it like 2x a month
Hello, I hate to bug or annoying to any employee like that, but I have to say that water are never safe for clean part in printer due to water with very little salt that can destory any device. Well, sometime I damaged my device by water which is why I tell my experince. If I might suggestion to use alcohol-based cleaner because it is more safe than water. I hope it help you and other employee. Also I was hope if you could show me how to clean scan windows, thank.
My printer is only partially loading the paper, then it makes sounds as if it's printing but the paper is not moving. Basically I tried all the steps and its already a replacement for the last printer we had of this type (5514). What to do?
+erwinvb09 Most HP printers have a power adapter (the black box on the power cord) that holds a residual amount of power when only when end of the power cord is unplugged. By unplugging both ends, all residual power is fully drained. Residual power can cause the machine to hold onto the setting(s) that contributing to the issue.

Glad you got it working!
Thank you for nice video! I did all as yoo show, and my printer started to take paper without problems again.
+Anton Frolow I am glad to know that the video has helped you fix the issue.

Worked!
Glad to hear it!
Resetting the printer helped. For now at least

The PM? I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I am having this same issue! Did you ever find a solution?
How exactly does one PM on here?
So.. why do you have to disconnect both ends of the power cord, just disconnecting one side and waiting two seconds longer would also work...

Yeah, none of these options helped. I think my printer just blows.
Have to clean the rollers after every 20 pages or so. This printer is utter garbage.
Have you tried using a different type of paper?
Biggest piece of garbage I've ever owned.
