The music industry seems like it’s a lot of smoke and mirrors. I think what really opened my eyes was learning that a well known musician in their genre, one who I had seen on tour, who has played on and produced some amazing records and tours constantly… makes less money per year than I do. Yes, he’s had a good career, gets to travel the world doing what he loves, but I just expected that someone with his background and accomplishments would be more financially set.
what u just said is the reason why i tell artist that chasing iconic fame is not worth it , like u said u got artist who are mad famous but getting less money then a unsigned artist who is very business savvy because the signed artist has so much money being invested in them by the label to the point where the label takes way more because all that money that they invested they got to get it back plus a profit on top which may lead the artist in getting nothing .... sometimes less means more
@@GRINDETHIKSMIXTAPESHOW beyonce is a huge name in music and has LOTS of fortune, I think you need to balance your dreams with logic like she did to achieve that iconic super star global fame
If you put your ego in front you'll be right there on top.i chose to kill my ego long ago. This system is not for artists,it's for puppets, and most times they put their hand right where you'd put it in a puppet.
No one has ripped off musicians more than Spotify, Google/UA-cam etc. Niche and innovative musicians made proper money in the label days, pure-piracy, pre-streaming. It's barely possible to earn anything from a record now, unless you are in the top 10% - Ed Sheehan, Taylor Swift. Frank Zappa had a major label deal, Captain Beefhart, Nick Cave, Miles Davis. The whole 'evil label' thing was. promoted by the tech industry to excuse their rampant exploitation of the creative workforce and has been blown up by UA-camrs who weren't there
You know, I think these kinds of videos are REALLY helping me here. I'm only 17 years old and I'm already an independent artist making my own music. Been doing it since I was 15 in Oct 2022. I'm glad I've got all the control I can get, because a friend told me about this and he wasn't lying - most of these people have LITTLE to NO control over what they're doing when they sign to these labels. For example, we see a lot of artists promoting satanic stuff in the media - it could be that the labels WANT to make them do that shit despite the artist NOT wanting to do it because they KNOW it's wrong, yet either they do it anyway or they're dropped. One or the two. That's also why I dont listen to a lot of these popular musicians in the mainstream music industry. So, this is really making me think about this choice while I still have time, "Am I gonna sell all my control and rights over to Satan?" or "Am I gonna be independent and believe in myself and take control over what I do no matter hard it may get?" This video means so much. Thank you, and God bless. ❤
It's funny how for years people wanted to pursue music to break out of the traditional work force just to turn around and sign their life away. Most of the time, it is just to shelve artists. I know of a lady who signed and they basically put duck tape on her mouth. They use the desire for "fame" and assumed "money" against you.
I don't mean to be a downer..but with the music these days it seems like you gotta sell your soul and sign in blood to make things happen...I am perfectly happy sticking to moving my indie mountain♍♍😊😊
You make some valid points, I’m not sure I would recommend getting money from a drug dealer in 2023 with today’s RICO laws, but I get the point. However it is so difficult to continue funding a music career initially, so I see why most want to sign with a label.

I’m an independent artist myself. And I know for sure that they choose the artist they’ll like to work with. It’s like a business.
