Yassine bro you really came a long way from reporting on rap news man, ever since the industry plant to the law power videos you keep improving your content by a huge gap. I really hope whatever goals you plan on completing in the future you be recognized for your dedication.
I'm a student at the Atlanta institute of music and media learning to become a mixing engineer and I had to write a paper about some of these guys and the phonograph. I feel like it is videos like these that can inspire someone to go into the music field
Good on you! I went to engineering school myself. Remember, we are defined by our actions; our morals and principles are what influence these actions. 80% Business 15% Music 5% Talent
Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov, Franz Liszt, Mozart, and Aron Copland are my favorite classical composers! It's crazy how deep you went into this! Your channel is scratching an itch!
Brilliant video! I love your clear, tasteful presentation style & also how you tie all these different musical movements/eras together on this video, I know your channel is mainly focused on hip hop but at the end of the day all musicians are part of the same long lineage of artistry & musician family tree so that's a really nice touch, every artist should aim to study the whole of music & music business history from the older musical styles to the present day hits because there's an incredible amount of knowledge & power there. Ironically, times haven't changed all that much since the early days, power players & predators keep ripping artists off the same as always, only the methods change LMAO
this is amazing, yassine. your videos are becoming more and more professional and very-well thought out. it's informative and you display your intelligence by delving into these interesting subjects. using historical facts on how music went from the elites to becoming readily available for everyone and how some people learnt to make a business out of it is true genius. keep it up man
Yassine keep up the work been watching your videos for years now, the transition to killer thumbnails and motion graphics with top quality story telling is phenomenal. Used to watch all your videos but now your audience is going to expand drastically to new heights.
This is such compelling content, you've been killing it lately and I love the direction you're taking your channel. Even if the views aren't reflective of the work you're putting in yet, these videos will age better than jumping on whatever trend or headline is popular for a week. Much love HY🫡

Hello, Yassine. You Don't know me but I have been watching your videos for years. This is by far the best content you've ever made you are educating people in an easily digestible way and that is incredibly valuable.
I love your docs man, but PLEASE, take more attention on the chronology of the events, this happens in EVERY video, you start very well, following the events, than at the middle you jump than come back, but besides that, FANTASTIC work.
@@helloyassine I wouldn't fully agree with dude above in that it's every video, but in this one when jumping around like you did when talking about the early Columbia's developments in tech in the late 1800s after bringing us up to the 1950s and beyond did feel a bit jarring. That said, I studied a massive amount of music history in college, especially in relation to music technology and felt like this was a GREAT breakdown that could have easily replaced at least a few weeks worth of material I sat through in both film, audio and classical music history classes.
I feel sorry for people who never knew what it was like to buy their favorite bands latest album and pour over the liner notes and pics ..pick the needle up and drop it over and over on their favourite track ..twiddling with the tone knob to get the sound just right ..great days !!
Except the music industry can't evolve now.... rap is the most diverse genre in the world..... And we ain't changing the music... it's as good as it's ever gonna get
I absolutely love this channel. It's so well done. But SIR, at 13:48 that is NOT the right Clerance Williams. That's Clerance Williams III, an actor. Normally I wouldn't care but change that if you respect him as an artist and care about doing these docs properly. Other than that, I'm still a huge fan. Thank you for your work, sincerely.
The record labels and streaming providers are still making millions every year as the artists who create the music earn next to nothing! Something must change cause this is a crime!

I don't care what anyone says... audio cd's (compact discs) are awesome!! They have the best audio master sound. They aren't easy to break either. They last a long time if you take care of the disc. Plus they look cool. I love cd's and always will❤️💯
The differences between entertainers of now and the entertainers from back then trip me out. Entertainers were once merely servants for the ruling class but now entertainers (not all) act like they are high and mighty while expecting to be treated like royalty. It's like a court jester masquerading as the king. What's more; because entertainers were providing their services to the aristocracy, they had to present top-notch work that was thought-provoking but now the ruling class is using entertainers to keep their subjects (middle and lower class) in a dumb and senseless state.
Dopest video I've seen in years, always wondered how this industry came to be. Other great documentaries I've seen were "The paving of America" about how roads/interstates got booming. And the history of the TV
Cole Porter used to write risqué parodies of his own hit songs. For example, the parody of his song 'You're The Top", had the line... 🎶'You're The Top / You're The Breasts Of Venus / You're The Top / You're King Kong's Penis'🎶
A good overview in the growth & establisment of the music industry that is now so much of our life that we just take it for granted. Not sure where the "evil' fits in to it though?
Yassine you really figured it out. These mini docs gonna have you blowing up and you pushing out this content at an insane rate. Respect to you brother.
Love this video. One of the best synopsis-sai? sees? 's?- overviews on the music industry I've ever seen. I think one of the biggest pieces missing to the puzzle, are the avenues to allocate people to new music that they'd like, particularly on a local community level. You have so many clubs and venues that play nothing but top 40, or overly played out classics, and hardly any that really cater to showcasing new material in a fun, entertaining manner. A lot of that is cultural though. For some reason, people have a hard time using their imagination to dance to music that's conventionally not considered dance-able... which makes it 10X more scary for the average individual to get the courage out there and freely move and naturally feel just feel it however their imagination desires... without the fear of some douchebags broadcasting them on some tik tok video. When imprison ourselves to artistic conventionality, the decline of music culture itself becomes the cost- so please, don't be that douchebag. That being said, on the digital spectrum, it seems that even spotify, pandora, and youtube's algorithms tend to promote and feedback the same things over and over; which to their credit, is improving- Like Pandora's "Discovery" option for instance... we need a lot more of that, on a much bigger scale.
One thing I will say is it seems that when singers and artist grew up in the church they seemed to be more talented. Especially when you compare it to today when someone can go viral off of one song yet they have only been doing music for like a year or so. Versus coming up in church and getting thousands of hours of practice even before they even knew they wanted to do music
@@user-ew2di5du8q I watched a whole mini doc about it called “why the new girls can’t sing” . It’s sad and objectively I worry about what music is going to sound like in 20 years
@@user-ew2di5du8q yeah I remember when K.R.I.T first album came out it was such a let down. Sounded like the label tried to wash out all the soul he put in his music and polish it up. And I also don’t get why the labels don’t invest more in artist development much these days. They would honestly get so much more out of there investment if they still did this. Instead you have so many(honestly seems like more than ever) artist who are here today and gone tomorrow
I miss the talent that church choirs and school bands used to create, but with the rise of technology and the human population explosion, church and school are unsustainable. The world will be drifting back to warring empires soon enough. And new religions and schools of thought will arise.
