    A petition needs to be started for Jeff to cover Altitudes. Since I started listening to Jeff, on earlier albums in Nevermore, you could hear the Cacophony influences all over the place. He's also a Marty Friedman fan. A dream come true is to watch Friedman and Loomis (doing Jason's parts) live one day, covering both Cacophony albums.

      Ok forget the "get better" thing. All I'm saying is when he wrote this song he could not play it. He was a stunning guitarist then but everybody plays differently and maybe some parts of Perpetual Burn needed the use of techniques at that point found difficult by him, or even techniques not yet invented. Idk, I'm not attacking him in any way believe me.

    what impresses me the most is these huuuge position changes, sometimes from way near the headstock to some solo in the "lowest" (position wise, not note wise) region of the fretboard and on top of all that with PERFECT transition. And on top of that he starts on the new position with some insane arpeggio and goes on from there. If I heard it without video, I'd swear it would be a punch in take. Only players know how difficult it is to do this stuff so flawlessly. Rarely have I seen a guy with such mastery of control and I have seen all them shredders. Not many can walk besides Jeff with this kinda stuff.

      +paul hardman I actually would love if they made a 3rd Cacophony album, i mean Jason can't play, but he still writes, Marty is still awesome as fuck, Jeff Loomis can clearly play the shit Jason writes and has written awesome shit himself (also there is the connection with Megadeth and Marty :) , and Paul Gilbert and Ron Jarzombek are buddys with Marty and Jason...
      So what the fuck, get all together and write the best fucking shred album ever!

    What makes a huge diference between all the guitar stars and Jason is that he played in the highest level a man can play but most important, his composition level, maybe can be compared with the most great musiciens of the history.

      +allolp Def two-way on the sweeping bits. His alternate picking seems more upward. Maybe not as extreme as McLaughlin though. I'm total upward pick-slanter unless I'm sweeping, then it's two-way for sure.

    • @DoggoWillink
      @DoggoWillink 9 років тому

      And I'm guessing by your profile picture that you like those picks? I used to use them, for a while. Someone suggested Jazz 3s... 3 I think, I haven't looked at one in years in terms of the writing on it, and I never switched back. Honestly though, picks are the least important part of playing, just need a thick one and you're good to go.

      +BER2ERKER Big Stubby are very comfortable to hold, but they so much noise. when you hit the string you not only hear the strings ring, but you also hear the pick hitting the string... i dont know how to describe it better. it has to do with the material, Nylon ones are much better then the normal plasatic ones.
