I'm unironically glad you're here to guide me through drawing lines and shapes. Wading into the art community felt like walking into a gym with buff people lifting their max reps akin to master artworks while you took time out of your day to show me a basic push-up.

Thanks for sharing!!! My two boys(5 & 13) and myself decided we wanted to learn "how to draw", so we ran out and bought a cheap sketchbook at michael's and started our drawing class tonight. We were all super excited that we could actually draw a straight line. lol.. Great instruction and easy enough for my 5 year old to successfully draw a cube that is is extremely proud of! We will keep watching!

I've realized I need to take a step back and seriously evaluate how I'm going to approach art from where I currently stand. I have so much "advanced" information packed up in my head but what I really want is to stack cubes on paper like it's the easiest thing... which it should be.

I've thought about doing this, but I honestly think there are people better suited to learn from. My one tip would be to stop thinking about it as "shading" and start thinking about it as "lighting". Remember, everything part of an object that is visible is lit by a light source. If you can figure out how it is being lit, you can figure out how to render it correctly. I would really recommend reading anything by Sam Nielson on the subject (aka his blog). If you can take one of his schoolism classes, that would be best.

Can I request a tutorial on something? If so... Perspective. That's always what gets me. I have so much trouble with it, I actually trash a lot of potentially good drawing cuz of it. Please and thank you.

Oddly one of the most is CAD and technical illustration. A house can be two-point perspective. Gridded paper might help some.
