Friday night isn’t Friday night without a new walk from the intrepid duo of Dave and Logan. What a wonderful part of the world made all the prettier in the beautiful Spring weather. The potato cave was a surprise. Where would we be without the ubiquitous potato?
Trent is just the most quaint gorgeous place. These old villages are gems of England. Love each one you visit Dave. What a beautiful church ! Thanks so much Dave and Logan 👏🏻☀️🌸
The yellow stone you mentioned Dave is the local Hamstone, mined at Ham Hill, west of Yeovil, and most of the surrounding villages have that coloured stone. Indeed, Ham Hill is now a Country Park, well worth anyone's wander, as is a visit to the onsite pub, the Prince of Wales. Perhaps a venture outside your usual area is called for.
Oh wow - I love the Village of Trent. It's a stunning area of North Dorset packed full of well-presented properties. I must find that Potato Cave - a fantastic hidden gem. Thanks again for a brilliant video. 😊
@@DaveFord What always surprises me is that most churches in the UK still seem to be open for anyone to visit. If that were the case here in New Zealand, they would be robbed and vandalised in no time. When I lived in England, no-one thought anything about the fact that churches were unlocked. I guess these days there is a little more worry about whether they are safe, but it's good to see that the practice continues.
What a striking church(the first one), wow. Beautiful. And the third one was so nice on the inside. And lovely villages with nice houses. The stone houses reminds me of the Cotswolds, same colors. Very nice. And a very fine walk in beautiful landscape. 🙂
Excellent footage, love the music you use! Fab watching Logans adventuring. Wonderful buildings in the village! Gorgeous countryside and enjoyed all the historical info! We feel like we have been on holiday...Thank You!😊
According to the dictionary, 'Nether'means lower or down. Near Andover, we have Over & Nether Wallop.(There is also a Middle Wallop, which is between the two villages) The name here is self explanatory as all three villages are on the Wallop Brook, which rises at Over Wallop. If you haven't been there, it's well worth a look. Very pretty cottages, but only one pub! Your walk was very pretty to watch, as I'm not familiar with that area. The potato cave was also interesting and some of the views were outstanding. Great video.
Not sure Logan is a natural caver! But I loved the footage of him on the Monarch's Way. I remember when I was walking north of Sherbourne the Monarch's Way seemed to double back on its self and I think that was down to the to--ing and fro-ing between Charmouth and Trent. Very interesting and pretty walk with loads of history along the way. Thank you.
Brilliant walk and thanks for taking us into those exquisite churches. I am not sure how Logan liked it though, Kitton Lane with no cats to chase, Potato Cave with no crisps in it either. LOL Cheers.
Best channel on UA-cam Dave. Videos are always fantastic quality ( including narration). I loved the buildings and history on this walk and of course the smashing Logan . Such an obedient dog .
Thanks for your videos dave I really enjoy them!love to see the church organs and your commentaries are absorbing. Many thanks. Logan is lovely, I can tell you love him.
Enchanting walk thru beautiful villages Trent and Compton and hillside, love these local stories and historical tidbits; Dave you’re getting closer to Somerset one of favourites looking forward to seeing Burrow Mump and tales of Burrowbridge
Just looked up Burrow Mump on the map. Looks a great area for a circular walk. Will add it to the list (probably next year now though as 2024 is "full"). Thanks for the recommendation.

I guess if we had never had spuds then we would never have had crisps!
@@DaveFord what would Logan do?

Thanks Jean. Yes, I think that Logan wasn't that keen to explore inside the cave! Charles certainly had a challenging escape from the battle for sure!
Nice walk Dave and lots of history too, I like that potatoe cave!
Thank you Peter. :)
Dave you should do that walk again the pub Rose & Crown is now reopened and is fantastic and they accept dogs.
Thanks for the update - I will have to check it out (for research purposes of course!).
Brilliant walk and thanks for taking us into those exquisite churches. I am not sure how Logan liked it though, Kitton Lane with no cats to chase, Potato Cave with no crisps in it either. LOL Cheers.
Thanks Yvonne. Yes, Logan certainly felt "short changed" not finishing with any crisps!
Wonderful,! Than you Dave& Logan
Thank you Hannu. :)
Hey Dave! My ancestors are from Kilmersdon/Coleford in Somerset. Would love to see you do a video! Great work, can't get enough of your videos!

@@DaveFord awesome, I enjoy these beautiful villages and enchanting countrysides
Did you know that General Sir Henry Rawlinson GOC 4th Army in the Great War is interned in the Church?
Thanks for that extra information Tim. Thank you for watching.
What ...a potato cave with no crisps for Logan? No wonder he wouldn't go in.😊
Yes indeed!
What's the betting the potato cave was a repurposed burial chamber?
It certainly is quite atmospheric inside!
