- In Minimax 1100r Aircraft - DAR and Airworthiness the day finally arrived for my inspection. It was an amazing day and I learned a lot. It's like a check-ride but a lot more fun!

This is really great, Dennis! If I heard correctly, you'll be doing first flight on Nov 11. Congratulations, and we all look forward to that video!
There will definitely be video
Hey Dennis, congratulations on getting it finished. It was great to see the initial build. It would be cool to see it up in the air.
That video is coming soon…hope you’re doing well Hector!
Congratulations!! Such a big milestone accomplished in your journey! Can't wait to see her take to the skies! Great video to see what goes into this portion of the process. Thank you.
I was so glad the DAR was comfortable with Parker filming, I really didn’t want to leave this important part out.
Congratulations!!
Thanks so much!
Congratulations Dennis. You've earned any and all accolades that come your way. We, your Trusty herd , are just as excited as you are. Now, onwards and upwards - there's a pun in there somewhere. :-) Thanks for allowing us to follow along with your project. N-6395T
Hey Michael! You’ve been through the journey yourself and have followed me every step of the way. Thank you!
WOW ! Congratz ! So you're located at WJF... fly it over to L00, and I'll buy you breakfast just to see your plane ...Lol ! Offer is good weekends only after 8:00 at "Guido's at the Hangar". I'll be looking/listening for you in the pattern.... Take care of your Beautiful Bird ! Ron
I’ll have to take you up on that Ron!
Congratulations Dennis! I just bought a minimax my self. I live in the Santa Barbara area. I would love to talk minimax with you sometime. We should exchange contact information.
For sure! You can message me on Messenger and I’ll contact you
Awesome! Congratulations very informative.
I was hoping it would be found interesting to others
Congratulations Dennis! I’ve been following along since the first few videos 3 years ago. Through all the adversity you kept moving forward. I can’t wait to see your first flight video! Well done!
Thanks so much!!! And that’s amazing you’ve seen it all
Congratulations 🎉 Now the bird will quit the nest 😊 can't wait to see that ! Cant wait to start building mine (fp-303). Thanks for all the videos you shared with us !
For Sure Daniel, it’s been my total pleasure to produce this content!
Congratulations Dennis! I've just started watching a few of your videos over the past couple weeks and I'm hooked! Can't wait to see you fly!
Thanks for following along, a fun and rewarding journey for sure.
It glides like a brick Dennis. When u do a power of landing definitely start higher than u think u need to be and cut the power once you are over then fence. Super steep approach. Just as the manual says do your first say 5 landings power on. I do know most electric pumps have a check valve that creates and issue trying to pull fuel through them with a mechanical pump. I built a v8 Chevy s10 once and I used and older 350 with a mechanical pump and I tried pulling full from the tank through the electric pump in the tank as the pick if u will and it ran ok until 50% power and the it starved it and it would cut out and die. The mechanical pumps are the way to go. Even these 500$ in line pumps fail frequently. I went back to mechanical pumps in my two drag boats because of frequent pump failures. Throw a primer on and get rid of the electric pump. If it’s one of mr gasket pumps or edelbrock etc it will fail sooner than later. That pump I’m speaking of is sold under many names. Aeromotive makes some decent in line pumps but they are bulky and heavy. I’ve never had a mechanical pump fail. Every four or five years I’ll put a new diaphragm in and continue on.
I certainly wish I didn’t have to use an electric pump. I haven’t seen a mechanical pump on a half vw
Did the DAR say anything to you about a fuel tank/sump drain for checking for possible water accumulations? Great job on the build!
I actually have one . It’s a drain on the bottom of my gascolator. It’s located down by my right gear leg in the bottom of the fuselage
Congratulations! It was great that he allowed you to video the inspection. It was faster than I would have expected. Seems like inspectors can see quality work.
It was longer as I edited some of it out.
He followed his checklist completely that’s for sure. He recommended that I safety wire my gear hinge pins to the nearest bolt which I did right away, it was easy. It was a great experience!
I thought you couldn't get your N number until the airworthiness inspection was done?
No, you can reserve it anytime you want. That’s fine on the FAA web site. I had mine reserved for the whole build.
Funny thing here in the UK there is no checks / inspection and no flight test requirements, so I have have used the EAA flight test cards for my built aircraft but can't get anyone to do a true inspection, although I have a friend who will act as second set of eyes.
That’s a real surprise!
I really like the Test cards!
@@DTMinimax I think they are great step by step guide, there are a lot of bits that are not relivent to aircraft as simple as ours but a lot that is relivant.
Fantastic stuff, congrats Dennis!! Whoo hoo!
Thanks Leo!
Im thinking of building one of these in the future!
Not something you will regret, that I can assure you!
Love the reference to the fly baby! Our planes, mine, a fly baby, is painted the same colors as yours! I tend to find wheel landings are easier with no suspension. Best of luck!
Thank you so much! I would like to see a photo of yours, where can I find one?
@@DTMinimax There are probably better pics, but this video is pretty good. Very similar paint scheme, but mine is more tan…. ua-cam.com/video/vOhNbpFbrDM/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared. Very informative videos by the way!!
Wow! Congratulations.
Thanks so much Edmond!
Thank you so much for your willingness to put out your content. I have watched every one (along with all of Algy's) and can attest to their importance! As a first time builder your videos have given me a window in which to see not only what is possible but also what is required to build my own aircraft. My hope now is that you will continue to invite us along as you complete the testing of your wonderful bird.
Dennis, it warms my heart to hear you say those things. That means that my original intent is happening. I couldn’t find any content when I started building, so I just had to create it!
No EAA Pre-Inspection? Who da thunk! You look like you're about to crap your pants. Yeeesh!
I had 2 inspections from an EAA Tech Counselor along the way, and I’m actually quite relaxed and enjoying the experience
Endorsement in a citabria? You will be just fine Dennis.
Thanks Josh!
We won’t tell him the wings come off if the gear pins come out😂
Funny! Yea I didn’t mention that
