Everytime I hear this line I get ears in my eyes... the love, the longing... the absolute dedication to better oneself for another person. "Recalling all of those times I could have cried then I should have cried then As the walls come down and As I look in your eyes..."
I sat in a very modest line to buy this album, with my roommate, in 96.... then we banged it for a year in the room... might still be my favorite tool album
I have read that Maynard said at a concert that this song is about not continuing the cycle of abuse. Maynard's son, Devo's middle name is H. Maynard was born James Herbert Keenan. I've always wondered if the Herbert part is named after a family member and Maynard continued the tradition but just shortened it.
Just got internet back a few days ago from Helene, and glad to see you're still at it. I'm thinking you're in Florida? Unless my memory is wrong, which it damn sure could be - #gettingoldsux... My mom and cousin got hit by the Helene/Milton double, but came out alright. I lived in FL for 20 years or so and saw many, but didn't expect to get hit by one in upstate SC. Hope all is well wherever you are!
Dare you to buy a cheap guitar and tune to drop d and learn that pick scrape you like so much… not too difficult and an instrument simply makes life better. Adams my inspiration… I haven’t stopped since I was twelve and I’m 32 now lol
Sorry I didn't realize the camera fell. Lol. No worries. That alone told me you for real for real were in the song. Enjoy Tool sir. No one in this day in age are like them.
That’s how we get it done? Ok. Well let me put it this way, I love the channel staxx and you seem like a genuinely good dude. A true gentleman and I truly kind hearted person. I am not a young man. I’m 45 going on 86. Can you please react to RZA “A day to God is a thousand years”. I know I’ve been requesting it for a while but it’s such a chill track and RZA is the man. I’m a true metal head and snobby when it comes to music. Especially growing up with a father who went to Berkeley for classical piano. He’s very snobby when it comes to music and he even liked that song. It was on in my car driving him somewhere one day, just had my music on shuffle and he asked me “who is this?” And I told him who it was and that he was a founding member of wu tang, because my dad loved ODB he thought ol dirty was crazy and funny. And he was listening and he really liked his sound. Please young sir please. I have never seen any other reactor do it.
4:21 that’s how H. was for me for the first few (probably 15-20) listens. I was so drawn in by the musicianship, that the lyrics didn’t start to sink in until I had grown more as a person and really soaked in the lyrics. There are a few different theories, but the most likely one is that’s it’s about his son (middle initial is “H”)who was being born around the writing of the song. Thank you for doing this one, Stax! It’s one of their more underrated tracks along with Jimmy, IMO. The buildup is long ,but man does it payoff beautifully! Thanks for getting to them again before GTA 6 dropped, I had a feeling you would appreciate that when I posted it😂! Keep on jamming my friend and spiral out🌀!
@@StaxReacts I'm so sorry!!! U are an honorary Xennial!!! I just made u one. I made u honorary Gen X, bit I just came to find out that I'm not 1.....I was born on the cusp and I don't have a full generation, bit I'm an Xtennial from what I understand, and now ur 1.

Its very hard to choose, but this middle album between, raw, angry as f tool and super refined space metal is just in a sweet spot.
