..well, as my first year of building the soil and it still isn't that great, I've resorted to using miracle grow. I planted 4 heirloom cucumber plants from seed, and keep them well watered, and some occasional high phosphate fertilizer (to promote fruiting). I'm wondering if I even needed that. I'm harvesting more cucumbers than I can eat or easily give away - like a half dozen big ones per day. It's crazy how prolific these are.
