How did I miss your cuppa tea all these years? Just my kind. Your intro with summary of the whole project & construction before starting the work, is so Certified as True Educational Tutorial. I'm a granny. Are you also one? You have the exact sense of humor & goofiness I've been looking for in a BFF. Been wanting to have 4-5 goofy friends in a compound of individual cottages (repurposed retired airplane, bus, train car, shipping containers). At the end of the day, share meals, glass of wine & lots of laughs. 💖🌹🌺💐
@@CraftandaCuppa 😂💐🌺🌹💖 Today's grannies are young looking chicks. You are as beautiful as your humor. I look younger than my age, so I stopped coloring my hair. It is now a silver halo. Hi Kelly, you are my complete cup of tea, i love making granny squares and your tutorials are great, love your work and youve helped me with my depression, bereavement of loss of my crafting friend my mum, so huge thanks. Be lovely to dend you happy mail, gifts as a thankyou xx
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. I think our hobbies are so much more than just crafting. They can really help us emotionally and mentally. Crochet saved me for sure and I'm forever grateful for finding this amazing and craft and community too! ❤️
I made the cape from the tutorial and wore it yesterday - I even bought the pattern to give a little back as I loved it so much!! I’ve no idea how to follow the pattern (I’ll learn the crochet terminology at some point 😂) but this tutorial is super brilliant. Thank you Kelly ❤
Kelly I'm loving this cape, thanks for showing and helping others understand variegated yarns. This will definitely be my next project. Oh and I've got plenty of Hobbii Carnival, yah❤❤❤
Hiya, I have just finished the hexi shirt. How amazing 😍. You are such a fabulous teacher and I love having a giggle with you. I'm doing this next. Have you ever thought of adding a hood to it😊. I'd love to try that too. As if you aren't busy enough😂. Thank you so much for such a Fabulous channel ❤
What a beautiful cape i am still doing the jumper you showed us how to make i am on the back i love all that you make and being colourful that is me as well. Another great video.
I actually don't mind when the sides of variegated yarn don't match exactly since the colors go together. I love seeing how it works up. It makes for fun socks, leg warmers, gloves, too.
I always do few rows with 20 sts n start with correct hook for wool n then go up after 3 rows till find hook prefer.. don’t like tight if its flowy I’m after.. glad it ain’t jus me😂😂thinkin this would be handy throw on .. as Brit weather changes so much!.. can lob it in me bike basket or car
it occurred to me that to avoid the halves of the back not matching, only add the front sections before seaming the top back (along the granny square) then work the back across the entire width also, without wanting to cause a fight, this shape of garment may be better described as a ruana
Hi Kelly, I’ve finally worked up the courage to try my hand at this lovely! I have two questions, if you don’t mind. 1) Would Manarola work as well as Carnival? I seem to like the color choices of Manarola better. 2) I am 5’8” and size 3XL…approx how many skeins should I purchase? Thanks a lot! Barbara
@@barbaraeckman2588 hi Barbara I'm not sure what type of yarn Manarola yarn is but this pattern is designed so that you can use any type/ply of yarn!!! I would like to make a 4ply version for summer at some point!
Hi, I’m really eager to get started on this fun design!!! Let me ask my question in an easier way. How many skeins of Carnival did you use to make your size small, in the dimensions that you specified during the video?
Hi Kelly, can you tell me how many skeins you used of your Carnival Colour yarn? The patter says you used 600gr. This yarn at Hobbi says a skein has 100gr or 240m in length. If you used 6 skeins I can compute the yardage I need. Thanks! Sssshhh! I'm making one for me and a Birthday gift for my best friend. We've been besties for nearly 50 yrs! More like close sisters now.
@@SandyCrochets hi! I didn't actually count how many skeins I used but I would suggest to get a little bit extra just to be on the safe side as we all crochet with different tensions 🥰
I think it would be nice with a hood? Could you possibly do a tutorial for a hood? Maybe that you could add to any top you would like to add a hood to? Obviously you’re very busy and I might be the only one who’d like it to have a hood 😂😂 it’s very nice though anyway 😊👍
I do instructions for a hood on the good vibes vest and it would be the same principle! I will pop the link below. I was actually making a hood but I randomly tried it on and fell in love with the collar! ua-cam.com/video/EvTN25tzLEA/v-deo.html
Hi it's in one size and the only yarn I have made it in is Hobbii carnival which is classed as Aran weight but I would say it's more similar to DK. The yarn Est is in the written description of the video but if you chose to make adjustments then obviously you may need more yarn! 🥰
Yes but that would be like a different pattern to the cape style but I totally did think about trying this out for another version whilst making this one 🥰

The sitting room floor, if carpeted, is great for blocking large projects. 😀

Hi, here is the link 🥰 www.craftandacuppa.com/product-page/the-granny-cape-crochet-pattern
Could this be done as one piece. Large square for the back, two smaller with stripes for front. So you won't have long seam up back?
