My wife and I were married at Bamburgh Castle last September. I’ve been visiting the NE coast my entire life, in my opinion it’s the greatest place on earth! 😃 Just found your channel and subscribed, enjoying what I’ve seen so far. Tristan & Katie

Our favorite pair of you tubers, Claire just like me with 2 dogs and backpack! Love the humour, Northumberland is beautiful , thanks for the great vids. Maybe Cornwall next? 💖🐾🐾
Love your N.E. vids. Love the chatter. Love the dogs. Vids reminded me of my Lindisfarne to Lichfield Cycle ride and my visits to Seahouses and the Farn Islands and other ventures into Northumberland when I was at Durham. Thank you so much - at 77 it's great to recall memories.
Hi 👋 thanks for watching, that’s some cycle ride 🚲 crikey! We thoroughly enjoyed the NE trip, we have returned already, it’s beautiful 77 years young ❤️👍
Glad you enjoyed Bamburgh! (No kippers 😂) My husband took me there when we first met. Had a pint in the Lord Crewe, Still one of our favourite places after 47 years. The beach never looks busy as it’s huge! Cragside is also magical and impressive.
The Lord Armstrong you mentioned lived at Cragside, near Rothbury. It’s a NT property and I can highly recommend a visit. A fabulous house and amazing grounds. I honestly don’t think there’s a bad part of Northumberland. The history and scenery are something else 😃
Never been inside castle so thanks for taking us round ! Think you’ll agree Bamburgh is beautiful, loved the scenery , filming , music , banter and jokes as usual 😊x
Really enjoyed that tour of the castle we have never been inside, but interestingly i went to a boarding school in Bath (in the early 80’s) with one of the Armstrong family who used to tell me that she went home to the castle in the holidays and i never really believed her somehow ! I married a Geordie so we have visited that area a lot over the years when catching up with his family and its so beautiful but freezing as you said ,we were up there early July this year ans stayed at the Beadnell c&c club site and we had horizontal rain for a whole 24 hours our dogs wouldn’t leave the Campervan! 😂❤

Hiya, glad you enjoyed Northumberland, stunning place, we love it. When you next visit, you have to visit mr Armstrongs home, cragside house. It’s beautiful, first house in England to have electricity made from hydro power. Also is a must is Alnwick castle where they filmed Harry Potter. Stunning. Funny as usual, your sense of humour is a delight, looking forward to your next vlog. 👏👏👏

Great video Andy and Claire, love the content on this. Yeah it’s certainly an impressive castle. Great footage inside and around the grounds. Some funny jokes and great music throughout which I guess is your trademark now. Keep em coming as you’re the masters of great entertainment. 🍺🍺🦴🦴

Another fantastic vlog. So😅 well done everyone and thanks for showing us. Those truly were picture windows of the sea & shore! Andy FYI a pitot tube measures air, liquid or gas & generally pilots use them to gauge air speed.
Yes, Bamburgh beach and castle is great. We also used the Middle Inn which is great for those with dogs, welcoming to people too, and serves a great baked potato!
My daughter works at Cragside as a Conservation assistant. You'll love it, it's absolutely stunning. Not a bad view from the office window.@Stchristopherofatlantis
Hello Guy's, We visited there on our trip, but as a Yorkshire couple we found out you saved 20% with your CAMC card, plus we took sarnies 😮, now that is saving money 😅. Stunning views from the castle though. That sunset was spectacular 👌. Never looked at a sheep like a kebab before 🙄. Fantastic vlog 👏. Take care and stay safe, enjoy. Paul and Joanne 👍 ❤️ Ear wax 🤢
Hi guys, been on catch up with you as you popped up and I thought I’d take a nebby ! You are so funny and relatable, love the doggies. We have two too ! Mr Wilson and Betty are brother and sister from a different mister, Shi tzu crossed with Bichon. We’re off to Beadnell Bay in a couple of weeks to stay in a cottage with our daughter and her dog. We have a caravan, so we’re on the dark side sorry, but it’s great to see the journeys you do could help us as newbies to the dark side life. Will continue catching up, keep up the good work, cheers ❤😂❤😂❤
Hi. We are glad you found us and that you are watching. We loved our trip to Beadnell, the location is great. We hope that Mr Wilson and Betty love the beach there 🐾🐾❤️❤️☀️☀️ safe travels
Dumfries and Galloway has a house of Robbie burns which you can go inside, also cross the old stone bridge to the small toll house & walk up the hill to the museum. Dumfries floods regularly each year

Interesting fact 😂 Mr Armstrong was adopted into the family as a child as the previous generation did not have birth children. Can you imagine inheriting Bamburgh Castle 🥳.
@@claremaidofthewave251 hi Clare, I did my family tree a while back and my grandparents, the Forsters, owned Bamburgh Castle for around 400 years and were the Sherrifs of Northumberland. I presumed there would be many descendants still alive spread around but who knows. I’m still local to the north east. The Armstrong family took over Bamburgh Castle relatively recently (late 1800’s I think) and carried out a huge refurbishment.
@@deanharding740 Hi Dean, wow, what a shame they sold it. I bet you would have loved to own it now! 😁. Yes Forster is a popular surname in the North East.
It's some castle for sure. When i cycled round the coast of Britain for charity, there was a guy with a seafood van just down around the corner from the castle, and he gave me free food. Just wondering if he was there when you passed?
Lord Armstrong made most of his fortune by being one of Britains largest arms manufacturers, including naval guns and artillery pieces, sold all over the world. His main family house is an excellent, although quite costly to visit, Cragside Hall, Rothbury, Northumberland. Well worth a visit.
armstrong invented 1 of the most important things with out it there's hundred of things we couldn't move hydraulics, that's what opens the tower bridge at the turn of a handle by water when it was fist built your steering lifts your vehicle when you change a wheel operating heavy lifting in the construction industry
It's a shame that you are not in Cumbria as cockermouth Cumbria is having a food and music festival this weekend & Dalemain house just outside of Penrith Cumbria is having a vintage car rally
Bamburgh was, indeed, the capital of Northumbria but it was ancient Northumbria ie from the Humber (where the name came from, north of the Humber) to the Forth and East to West right up to the edge of, what is now modern day Glasgow. You're from Yorkshire so good chance you're ancestors were Northumbrian 😅
Top tip next time you go. Follow the path at the base of the castle and go all the way to the left along the green. Takes you to a small doorway in the wall and a nice level path to the beach without scrabbling over the dunes. Nice walk for the dogs
Ok so I gave in and subscribed 🤣🤣. And the wall history as you walked in the castle is wrong. Vikings didn't wear horns on there helmets, this myth was first started in the 1800s by Scandinavian writers and story tellers.
Bamburgh and surrounding areas have changed so much and so many houses are holiday homes which in the autumn and winter are closed up. As a result local services are almost non existent with banks and small businesses once being the centre of the communities shut up for good. We saw changes first in 1996 and travelled to the area about 11 times. Yes the areas need tourism but car parking is a really big issue, with locals it is very much a love hate relationship. I remember walking to Bamburgh beach via the bowling green and a local lady commenting to her dog saying "Don't worry Isla pila it is only a holiday dog". Having spent money in the locality we felt really welcome - Not. The beach is stunning although access towards Seahouses is dire and disabled access awful. Holy Island taken over by car parking but a walk all around the island is an experience and soul searching, so quiet. Good and bad visitor points as there are wherever you go. Prices expensive for visitor attractions, the council should maybe set up annual family passes? Loved your video btw!
If you are still heading north Dunbar is a nice place to visit and you can save some money after the Beadnell campsite rip-off - £10 to stop overnight by the harbour
@@Stchristopherofatlantis nowhere we have stayed. We have usually used free/donation type stops like the one at the Harbour or temporary holiday sites with CCC (we are off to our favourite one at Scoughall just outside North Berwick this weekend - £7.50 per night). No point paying that much for a motorhome with all facilities and not using them. The temporary site provides water and somewhere to empty the toilet and you are right next to a fabulous beach. Tantallon Castle is just up the road and North Berwick and Dunbar a short drive. If you must have a campsite there is Tantallon Camping and Caravan Park a few miles away but they will charge you the best part of £50 a night! Come and BBQ on the beach at Scoughall instead
You’ve no idea how hard it was to watch you turn down a scotch egg, they are rarely available here & I grab one at any opportunity. I remember going to Bamburgh to visit my wife’s parents years ago.
I'd say it WAS worth £17 to visit the castle. There's Yorkshiremen & Yorkshiremen. Is it true that West Yorkshiremen are tight but people from North Yorkshire are life's happy Givers? Asking for a friend.
@@Stchristopherofatlantis I remember those happy days of the South Yorkshire Passenger Executive where the bus tickets in Sheffield were almost given away compared to the prices "Oop North".
there is a car park in Berwick with a much better view than that. Lighthouse, mouth of the tweed, lindisfarne castle, bamburgh and the farnes all in one vista. also not only do the armstrongs live near by - one of them presents Pointless on tea time TV.

We plan to go to the Lakes next year
Did you go to the Grace Darling museum while you were there
We ran out of time and missed it, we loved it that much we plan to return 👍👍
Artworks, art ??? ,works, cracked me up
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ingleton North Yorkshire caves and waterfall.
Yes the waterfall trail, it’s on our list ❤️👍
Whats the music at the end ? I really liked it.
It’s called worlds go by, by houses on the hill. We love it too ❤️👍
Chuff me, it’s the Barnsley version of Ken and Carol!! You sit comfy with yer sausage roll and send your lass in to do the informative stuff. 😂
Did she wipe crumbs off your chest when she got back?
Now that’s a compliment 👍👍
She did but not very well so I had to finish the last bit off myself. I’m trying not to think about it…
@@StchristopherofatlantisI agree, they have a lovely channel, as do you. 😘
@@raikey284 thank you so much 😊
Bamburgh was, indeed, the capital of Northumbria but it was ancient Northumbria ie from the Humber (where the name came from, north of the Humber) to the Forth and East to West right up to the edge of, what is now modern day Glasgow. You're from Yorkshire so good chance you're ancestors were Northumbrian 😅
Hi. Happy Sunday
Really interested in this. Thank you so much 👍🏰
are you living in the van full time or part time
We work full time and head out in the van on weekends 🚐👍
Top tip next time you go. Follow the path at the base of the castle and go all the way to the left along the green. Takes you to a small doorway in the wall and a nice level path to the beach without scrabbling over the dunes. Nice walk for the dogs
Ooooo this is fantastic to know! We will return for sure
There's a depressing number of Brit visitors to the area who had no idea that it existed until the Hairy Bikers told them about it.
It’s beautiful
Ok so I gave in and subscribed 🤣🤣. And the wall history as you walked in the castle is wrong. Vikings didn't wear horns on there helmets, this myth was first started in the 1800s by Scandinavian writers and story tellers.
yay yea yea yea yea welcome on board. Oooooosh
I remember walking to Bamburgh beach via the bowling green and a local lady commenting to her dog saying
"Don't worry Isla pila it is only a holiday dog".
Hi, Thankyou so much for watching. We agree that the island is awesome and we loved it. Have a great afternoon
Expensive place !
Hi 👋 It was really good 👍
If you are still heading north Dunbar is a nice place to visit and you can save some money after the Beadnell campsite rip-off - £10 to stop overnight by the harbour
Now I have looked at Dunbar and we will head there! Thank you for this, any site recommendations?
I will look this up ! Thankyou ❤️
@@Stchristopherofatlantisonly a few miles from North Berwick where you visited.
My Irish gran used to call me as teak as xxxx
🤣
HOW MUCH!!! yes we thought a little overpriced but a must see. dya think the sheep thought you was nicking one of the lambs with Dora 😂, xx
The sheep was doing something!!! 🤪

I think you'll find that Lord Armstrong invented that stretchy doll in 1976, unless I'm mistaken 🤔😂
Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’ve no idea how hard it was to watch you turn down a scotch egg, they are rarely available here & I grab one at any opportunity.
I remember going to Bamburgh to visit my wife’s parents years ago.
We adored it, so beautiful
Next time we see scotch eggs we will think of you 🤣🤣👍
is that banbury
No a slice of Battenberg
Can’t believe Claire walked all the way round that ikea and never bought nowt 😅😅😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder what was your beverage of choice before Madri came along?
San Miguel… keep it Spanish 🤣🤣🤣
Historic Houses passes!👍We save a fortune using them....more £ left to spend on Madri!!🍻😉😂
Sounds good to us 🤣🤣
I'd say it WAS worth £17 to visit the castle. There's Yorkshiremen & Yorkshiremen. Is it true that West Yorkshiremen are tight but people from North Yorkshire are life's happy Givers? Asking for a friend.
Hellooo. We are from the glorious area of South Yorkshire 🤣🤣👍
@@Stchristopherofatlantis I remember those happy days of the South Yorkshire Passenger Executive where the bus tickets in Sheffield were almost given away compared to the prices "Oop North".
Remember bendy buses?
there is a car park in Berwick with a much better view than that. Lighthouse, mouth of the tweed, lindisfarne castle, bamburgh and the farnes all in one vista.
also not only do the armstrongs live near by - one of them presents Pointless on tea time TV.
Hi 👋 oooh that car park sounds fantastic
No way!!!! Pointless!!!!! 📺 really?? Will look it up and thank you!

Stop, stop. Please stop advertising Northumberland, even more people will come….😢. Just come across your video and really enjoyed your pattern/ banter. We have been coming to the Northumberland coastline for the past 12 years and absolutely love it. Unfortunately the secrets out. Best wishes Tim
Hi Tim. Won’t say another word 🤣🤣🤣
You didn’t mention the famous movie made there 🤷🏼♂️
? Downton Abbey ?
