mike brandon I mostly run my gain around 65... I do turn the grid lines off... also when in the forward view. Usually one click down on the transducer helps to see the bottom and forward view better.... if you have any other questions let me know.
Yes the Panotix transducer works under the ice, I did not try it above the ice, will do that this year to see. If you use a regular transducer in will work through the ice with a little bit of water on top of the ice to see below before you drill the hole.
Unless you are keeping the fish you catch, I don't recommend stepping on the fish to remove the hook! It's great that you are teaching people how to use the Panoptix locator to help them catch more fish but it is just as important to educate the public on how to handle the fish they are catching.

They should use barbless if they're that inept at releasing fish.

i just want the craft!!!! takes over 5 minutes to setup up the garmin, why have 2 devices for one hole? hard to move around
