Can’t agree more, those people who stereotyping the Rolex owners are so shallow, I do agree that there are people who own Rolex watches for the status but not all. Like u, I bought my first Rolex sub / Luxury watch on my 30th Birthday and since then, I never look back. Initially, Rolex was never in my list due to my typical shallow insight like everyone else. I almost got myself an Omega seamaster 300 from 007 spectre and I’m so grateful that I did not do that in the end. Just like u TGV, I did tons of research on watches and happened to also read a lot about the horological history of Rolex and finally arrived to my decision that I dare to say I will not regret. I also just got my explorer I too recently. I’m a happy man with my two most timeless, classic, iconic, versatile, durable and not to mention subtle elegant watches in my Collection.
I love the personal value you mentioned. My Dad recently gave me his 16610 which he wore on his wrist for 18 years. That alone makes it irreplaceable for me.
Tristano the bloopers are my favorite segment of your videos. Please incorporate more haha always brings a smile to my face. Thank you for the enjoyable video once again, love my submariner 114060 and cannot agree with you more.
I love wearing my submariner with just a plain white shirt and a pair of jeans. I don't care about the people getting skeptical. What matters is I feel good wearing them.
How are you liking it? I just picked up my 114060 from my AD 2 weeks ago, absolutely outstanding quality. I owned a 14060 several years ago and this is leaps and bounds beyond in finishing and feel on the wrist. I was always skeptical of the super case but I have changed my mind.
Mike C similar story to mine! I bought a 114060 two months ago my second watch to a 14060M (2 liner) purchased in 2008.. and there is really no comparison... the new one is built like a tank and the super case looks iconic.
Haven't been commenting much, been busy with university. But just wanted to say thank you for continuing to provide great content for us watch maniacs! Addicted to your channel.
1Ciao Tristano! very nice video. I like the fact that, even if it's your favourite watch, you can also talk about its "negatives" instead of considering it just as perfect because it's yours! Good job! happy thanksgiving man! Ciao, Diego.
Completely agree with you on everything you just said about the subby, truly is the king of divers. And my gosh... I was howling out loud at those bloopers my friend, tears were flowing! Haha! Best, Matt.
Bit late, but your comments about trying it are so true! When I was getting my first watch I was torn between the GMT, a seamaster and a sub, as soon as I'd tried on the sub I fell in love
Excellent video indeed. To me, the best points are the robustness and the fact that it can be the only watch you'll ever need. I mean, I like divers because they are robust, most of the times they have a date (which I think it's the most useful complication) and they have the rotating bezel that I probably use more than actually telling the time. Add this to the iconic factor of the Sub and you have probably one of the best watches. My struggle with the watch was explained perfectly by you, I think we were raised quite similar and I don't know if I would ever be able to justify that amount of money for a watch (to be fair, I'm not refering just to the Sub but to watches in general). Well, thank you very much and have a great Thanksgiving! Best regards, Michele. P.S. Those bloopers (especially the close ups) are fantastic!
While I appreciate the new Rolex, I am from the old "Tool School" give me lug holes, the old bracelets, and the non ceramic bezel. My two favorites of the new line is the Explorer and the AirKing.
I know there is a lot of Submariner Content out there but nothing as good as your videos and i love when you find ways to make more of them. AWESOME ! video TGV and i loved the blooper reel, good stuff man haha. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving.
I agree 100% with you. That's why I took so many years before buying my first Rolex ... I bought two years ago a deepsea. For is 44mm and for the decorate case back ... (Again this famous case back ...) But I hate when i meet stranger and thinks it's a fake! What does not happen with other brands! Super video my friend, I never get tired! Happy thanksgiving. Seb
I want a Tudor Blackbay (in blue) with their new inhouse movement now. Also A lot cheaper and not many people know about tudor watches or that rolex makes them. (I dont care that they are made by rolex I just love the design and that snowflake :)
Love your channel. I have recently started a collection of my own, it is so refreshing to see someone else who is so humble when it comes to the entire watch landscape. Much love
The ridge line on the clasp is a bit of a scratch magnet. I used to dislike the price, but I don't think about it much anymore. Buy once, cry once, as they say. I love that it is iconic, understated, legible and a reminder to me of the value of hard work. The sweep is cool, and I'm one of those who really likes the cyclops. I am still over the moon with this timepiece. That it is a bit plain leaves me with a passion for other watches with a bit more flash. Happy Thanksgiving, TGV, and thanks for a great and positive channel. Best-David
I too am getting a 124060 for my 30th birthday this week! Absolute grail. Can't believe I started with an SNZF17, to an SKX, to the SBBN033, and now my dream! Safe to say I'm a diver nut 🤤☺️
On the "loathes"blooper, you said "top 10 5 loves and loathjshhejshsgs"..top 10 5, that was messed up! hahahaah I LOVE your bloopers man, always makes me laugh the hell out hahahaah
In my humble opinion, this is with your Hoffman most superior watch in your collection and I love it. Not much to dislike about this watch. The only thing that surprises me, considering your affinity toward smaller size appearance, that you did not go with per-ceramic option. Rolex is best. Thanks for another great video. BIG LIKE!
Great video, Tristano! I'm Brandon Baines from the Facebook group. You commented on my 114060 No-Date Sub on a British Racing Green NATO last week or so. Hope you got one of those straps! Today is actually the 6-month anniversary of me owning my Sub! I have to agree with all of your positives, and especially the 3rd and 5th negatives. It is quite expensive for what it is. I mean, mine was just over 6 grand used from a dealer, as it's the No-Date version. When compared to something like a Zenith El Primero (which I'm hoping to get for my 30th birthday in a year and a half) that can be had for around $4500 or even less on the used market, you're really not getting that much horology for the price. Yes, the 313x series are super-durable movements, but they are simple. And yes, the design can definitely be a bit boring. That's what makes it timeless, like you said, but it's both a benefit and perhaps a detriment if you like a bit of flair. That's why I put mine on colored suede straps and NATOs occasionally. I know you don't like to take the bracelet off of yours, though. Anyway, very well-done video! LOVED the bloopers, too! Keep it up, and all the best!
That Sub Date looks huge on your wrist. I also have small (6.5" diameter) wrists which is why I tend to gravitate away from my ceramic GMT lately and reach for either my 36mm Datejust or 14060 when I feel like Rolex.
6.5 MOTHER FUCKING DIAMETER. That would place your wrists at around 20 INCHES in circumference, which is about 2.5x the average size. I don't think any watch in existence will fit your wrists.
I enjoy your channel and your insight. I hope to one day own a 39mm black dial OP..... but now my eye has been on the Submariner. Thank you for your gentlemanly commentary.
Catching up on some missed TUG videos. Talking about hard knocks, In December in the Ice, I slipped on some concrete steps and caught my fall. The springbar on my watch broke and the watch bounced down 4 icy concrete steps about 5 feet down. For a split second I coudn't see my watch, then I found my baby. A little scuffed but still going perfectly (humming away). The watch? A 46yr old, birth year 1970 Bulova Accutron Deep Sea with an easily buffed Acrylic crystal. Phew!
If it is so iconic why did they feel the need to widen the lugs and spoil what was a nicely proportioned relationship with the case and bracelet. It now reminds me of the Popeye cartoons in so far as it now resembles Blutos torso on Olive Oyles legs.
I have a 16610 that I received from my grandfather when I graduated from high school in 1990. I now have several other watches, many of which are worth more in terms of money value. But I would give them all up before I gave up my 16610. It spends more time in my safe now than it does on my wrist, but it was my daily wearer from about 1990 to 1998 or so. We survived my college years which included many drunken escapades, and other adventures that I can't mention here. When I take my permanent dirt nap, it'll go to my son who will take it on his own adventures.
At the beginning of that blooper reel I was expecting you to say "They're heeere" like in Poltergeist when that monitor cut out ;D ...I was all set to buy myself a sub for my 40th this year but I when I tried it on it just didn't blow me away like I had expected. With the money I had set aside I was able to get both a Planet Ocean and Speedmaster '57, which alludes to your point about the price. Still, there will likely be one in my future, but there are just so many other watches out there that I want right now. Great, honest review!
Really enjoyed this one. Perhaps a mention of patina and how it increases value would have been nice. Mine is so tropical and creamy no one could ask if it was real!
The Submariner just looks so stunning on the wrist.... beautiful! also I will be nicknaming my Subby the" TGV" in honor of its biggest fan! haha! Cheers from Philadelphia Brian
Referring to 116610LN 5 loves: 1. Extremely versatile piece with anything from jeans and a t shirt to even a tux 2. Huge lugs contrast well with narrow, tapering oyster bracelet, 3. Glide lock system on clasp, 4.The combination of the classic submariner look as well as the classic cyclops over the date wheel as with many models makes this the quintessential rolex and personal the overall best wristwatch ever. 5 Loathes: 1. Wearer is big target for theft due to instant recognition 2. So many fakes 3. So popular 4. Extremely overpriced 5. The stigma of owning one at a young age (although that is not really the watch's fault, i just can't think of anything else I dislike about it
KingRichard pretty much 100% agree It’s what’s put me off going for one. I turned a no date sub down for £2500 a few years back and now would feel daft paying double that. Would prefer an explorer1 and Pelagos or gmt Batman than a New sub now. Great watch though n
Submariner was the one watch I always wanted before I got into collecting. Then I thought, naaah not a Rolex and now I am 360. I read this on the forum quite often. Might be normal. As a pet peeve to the as good as gold. A friend of mine had his stolen of his hand in a crowd at a Christmas market. Robbery would also be a concern of mine....awesome video, happy thanksgiving!
Hahah hilarious bloopers . You make so many faces like Jim Carey :). Cool vid trist. I emailed you a short vid too just sharing my wife small seiko you might like . See you on the next one
I owned the Ceramic Sub for a couple of months. Purchased new from AD. While I always marvel at all Rolex watches for their outstanding quality the Sub was just too boring, and I found myself never wanting to wear it. I traded it in and purchased a new Explorer 2 polar which I absolutely love. 42 mm is my perfect size and that white dial with orange hand.
Great Video as always TGV. I have bought the black ceramic date twice and the hulk once and all of them flipped. For some reason, for me the old proportions and look nails it for me. My super keeper is the 16600. The quintessential tool IMHO.
The donkeys was nice but not like the others ;) again great video, maybe a follow up on other watches? The bloopers were perfect ! We need more of those silly faces
Hi everyone any opinions on getting an invicta pro ? I love the two tone blue gold submariner and the invicta is almost a replica, as a new enthusiast I will like some opinions.
Hi TGV! Great video. I'm with you. Fantastic watch for life and every situation. If you're working hard, it is the best way to get a reward. Every look ob your wrist is a memory of hard working and success. Greetings from the Ruhr-Area/Germany
Its interesting to see just how durable these suckers are when they are tested in a situation ( like yours) that put it in a slam bam situation that is so severe that you would never do as a "test" and it comes out like you said absolutely unscathed! I agree that it is the most rugged hardcore piece in the industry. Also I agree that the "is it real" question is on the rudeness level with "how much do you make a year" as always loved the vid and Cheers from Philadelphia!
Why would a watch need big improvements when it's probably the best selling watch of all time? I think Rolex is doing the right thing only making little changes like the clasp... For someone that isn't really into collecting watches it's almost perfect, but for the collectors that feel like its boring then they buy other pieces. For me one of the negatives I can think about it's the bulkiness, I think the older size was better, but of course that is a subjective thing. Great video Tristano, keep up the good work. Almost 70k subscribers!
Great video. I absolutely love the Sub! Will be my watch later this year or early next. My only "loathe" is the price. Definitely crazy. I like the new lugs as I have a larger wrist and large hands. Looks tough, but classy and understated like you said. Timeless!
Love my Sub. Have exact same one. Agree with all your points. It is undeniably the Best watch in the world for me. And I love all my other watches dearly as well but that just proves again how superior it really is over anything else. For me at least. Great video! Thank you.
hey, i removed a link on my sub, but i don’t have any loctite. do you think that’s going to be an issue? i’ve seen mixed answers online, was wondering if you’ve had any experience with the screws becoming loose over time? thanks.
Iown my first black sub date ceramic for 3months now, i love the oyster brac, the case the magnification, the everyday use and specialy the dive function since i use to swimm and dive every week. Its a too, watch, but a dressy one you can easily wear with suit, love it.
After watching most of your videos I always wondered why you cut and edit so much and not just have it flow as a 20 min vid, This one alone would have 100+ maybe more cuts n restarts, seeing the bloopers now I get it! 😂
I want a watch complication that measures time in Donkeys. lol

Corndog4382 True. I felt clickbaited. I clicked because, hey, what are 5 things to possibly hate about the Sub? Then came the disclaimer in the intro.
Bit late, but your comments about trying it are so true! When I was getting my first watch I was torn between the GMT, a seamaster and a sub, as soon as I'd tried on the sub I fell in love
Remember that Magnum P.I. episode when he sink his kayak and was castaway. He was wearing a submariner. a Must episode to watch for Magnum fans
I have been waiting all day to come home and see the bloopers after they were posted on face book and you did not disappoint!
I like how Tristano apologises to the camera for outakes 😂, top bloke :)
Love the bloopers. OMG :)
Thank you,

There's really not much to dislike about the Submariner. It costs a lot but it's a watch that can last a lifetime.
Ian Woollard literally, a lifetime

A new submariner costs $12,125 here in New Zealand. I'm only 17 but one day I'm buying myself a brand new sub. Love the video lately
Bille it's something that I can keep forever and one day give to my son
Just remember, it's about another $700-$1000 every 7-10 years for servicing.
It's fking Eth don't buy a new buy a pre owned and you won't loose money

very nice Dutch paintings on the background
I love these Rolex end links + the Nato strap - but - where can I source these end links ? Can you help ?
the price is even more absurd considering what rolex have done to put a stranglehold on the used market recently

I think you should tell us about that solid gold day-date in the background there :D
What are your views on the steel strap design of the rolex
You've got such a like-able character, thank you for making these video's.
I put my SKX009 back on the original bracelet, and someone asked, seriously, if it was a fake Rolex.... I really didn't know quite how to respond haha
Loved the bloopers Old Chap! HAHA!
PS. The bloopers were perfect ! We need more of those silly faces !!
"Ok Take 35..." :-) love those happy endings. Keep it up Sir
Nice Proust reference. He basically ate a donut that was so luscious it triggered a cascade of memories.
Thank you, LOL indeed.

Hi everyone any opinions on getting an invicta pro ? I love the two tone blue gold submariner and the invicta is almost a replica, as a new enthusiast I will like some opinions.
Great work! I would love to know the music on your introduction.
Haha loved the bloopers funny, great vid!
Hello, the video is excellent! What do you think about 116610lv the hulk? Any love and hate of it? Is it a classic or fashion watch?
Hi TGV!
Great video. I'm with you. Fantastic watch for life and every situation.
If you're working hard, it is the best way to get a reward. Every look ob your
wrist is a memory of hard working and success.
Hey,
I want to buy a new watch but I am thinking of a rolex gmt master 2 batman but I also really like the omega speedmaster...
what should I get?
Why would a watch need big improvements when it's probably the best selling watch of all time? I think Rolex is doing the right thing only making little changes like the clasp... For someone that isn't really into collecting watches it's almost perfect, but for the collectors that feel like its boring then they buy other pieces. For me one of the negatives I can think about it's the bulkiness, I think the older size was better, but of course that is a subjective thing.
Great video Tristano, keep up the good work. Almost 70k subscribers!
Don't care for the Rolex but the bloopers !! Top drawer !
Thank you.

Great video. I absolutely love the Sub! Will be my watch later this year or early next. My only "loathe" is the price. Definitely crazy. I like the new lugs as I have a larger wrist and large hands. Looks tough, but classy and understated like you said. Timeless!
As has been said a million times I wish it or the sea dweller came in 42 then to me it would be perfect
Happy thanksgiving TGV !
Those bloopers were hilarious. Great video!
Thank you sir!
Best regards,
TGV
Isn't "loathe" just a stronger version of "hate"?
Great video TGV! Thank you for it.
Great video as usual and the bloopers are spot on :)
Thank you :D
Best regards,
TGV

TGV What are your thoughts on Certina DS podium chronograph and did you or do you plan on owning one?
Just subscribed! Love this channel and your videos. Keep it up!!
Other than the price, my love for the sub is, and will be, eternal. Best watch ever.
