NickZ it’s a wash between both games. People are forgetting that a lot of cars in 3 shared the same sound files too, and a lot of them sounded terribly electronic. You can find loads of cars that sound better in one game but worse with the other, for both games.
@1pfuller, yes cars shared sound files in FH3. Not even close to this level though. You really cannot argue the difference it's far more noticeable and bothersome in FH4. That's why almost FH4 video has bitching in the comments section vs FH3 where they actually talk about the game and how great it is. Don't believe me? A few examples, LaF and FXXK had different sounds as they should. Come FM7 and they share the same sound and this time the sound isnt even accurate for either. The P1's unique sound in FH3? Replaced with 650S sound, etc. You can't argue these facts. The worst culprit in FH3 had to be the Alfa 4C using an AMG sound as well as most V8 AMGs sounding the same. Very minor compared to half the cars in FH4, dare I say more than half, not even having somewhat accurate sounds let alone unique.
I'm not gonna lie I can't say FH4 is definitely better overall. It has a very boring and unengaging campaign and tries too hard to lock cars behind shit like wheelspin when they were buyable in prior games. It's just lazy. The maps gorgeous and driving is the usual and I will enjoy it for years but it's far from an improvement excluding sounds were it's definitely a downgrade.
I dont know why the Speed in this Game and sound is better :(

The sound in FH4 sounds very digitized, as seen while you were revving, but they do have better onboard sound. At least the amount of muffling seems about right
While I do think there are some exceptionally great sounds on FH4 and I do love the game very much, I do want to ask if others do know this but are the people who did the car sounds for this game different from the previous Horizon games? As it could explain the lack of sound quality for a lot of the cars like the Dodge Vipers in particular.
It must be so much work and so little time, the sound design definitely has its own dedicated team and it can be one of the most stressful fields. Honestly whether or not it's the same team, the amount of cars they're deciding to put out is probably the issue. Then again Gran Turismo has way more, it could be about the team, the work ethic, or the allocated budget. But in my opinion, at least horizon 4 drives better :)
Fh4 v8 doesn't sound like v8. I dislike it in my 1989 Trans Am in this game with a v8 engine swap and its an A vlass car at the max number of A class, maybe that affects rhings but still, i would play fh3 because of the sounds

The R33 is perfect in FM6 and FH3. The Murcielago Lp670-4 sv doesnt sound like the murcielago v12 in either game but FH3 is a bit better. The Ferrari sounds better and more like a rcae car in FH3. Basically FH3 is btter than FH4 in terms of car sounds, but neither are the best forza game for car sounds.
Just because it sounds louder doesn't mean it's better. FH4 sound much more realistic, especially when you switch to the driver cam. My god, the difference is huge when in driver cam, as the sound gets muffled as it would when you're inside the car.

The LFA isn’t in FH4 because of the Toyota deal, So all cars under Toyota aren’t in FH4 because of licensing. Sad because the LFA is the best sound car...

I think all Horizon games are equally good as in gameplay, since they are all in different maps. Graphics will obviously become better every new platform game, but the sounds can be a huge difference, car sounds were really good in the first horizon game.
FH4 cars sound very arcade-y FH3 sounds a lot more natural, like it’s less compressed or something
FH3 actually sounds more compressed to me in the acoustic sense, and that's *why* it sounds better to me. FH3 better simulates the effect of the raw sound overwhelming your senses, whereas with FH4 it's more like they turned down the actual loudest parts of the sound so you can hear the fussy low-amplitude stuff.

I put the 6.5 liter V12 I think it was into the newer Dodge Ram in Horizon 4 and maxed out everything on it, sound file on that engine is fucking weird, at 3500 rpm it sounds like a helicopter and if you take it to redline and then stop accelerating the sound file is actually fucked, like it just sounds like mic crackle
5:06 Just listen how the engine sound gets muffled, while you hear the turbos singing more from within the car. Much more realistic than FH3

ye, in fh3 most high revving cars sound like a toy piano at higher revs, skips quite a few notes, while in fh4 its smoother. Also fh3 sounds just seem to scream into drivers ears without environment altering it, whereas in fh4 sound gets changed due to environment and thats why it doesnt sound as agressive as in fh3 and is probably why most like fh3 sounds more
