There's this emperor, and he asks the shepherd's boy how many seconds in an eternity. The shepherd’s boy says, “There’s this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it, and an hour to go around it. Every hundred years, a little bird comes. It sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed.” You must think that’s a hell of a long time. Personally, I think that’s a hell of a bird.
[Finish re-watching Heaven Sent for the umpteenth time]: "Wow, I still have some tears left this time!" [Listens to this]: promptly weeps enough to fall apart into a pile of desiccated atoms.
Wow, just wow!! 3:25 sounds like it was taken straight out of the episode, from 4.00 you perfectly captured the moment The Doctor realises he isn't going to survive this, but then at 4.30 he pushes onwards anyway and then rounded off with a superbly played "Doctors mind palace" song (which was played a LOT faster than what was put on Twitter, wow!) and it was all just beautifully arranged! And all played from memory! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent :)
+Fuffen Thank you for your kind words! I wanted to string the themes together in a way that reflected the narrative of the story, but I also had to consider the musical transitions as well, so I'm glad you found the meaning in the music! Yes, well with the Mind Palace theme, I was playing it a LOT in order to get it up to speed, both for accuracy and for endurance - because all those staccatos were quite painful at first!
Thank you! Orchestration is great, but the pianos gives such transparency to the music so you can hear lots more going on in there -- and the treble line is much clearer this way. Fantastic.
Alone... I am alone The world which shook at my feet And the sky And the trees Have gone And I am alone here Alone... The wind bites now And all the world is grey And I am alone here Alone...
Thank you very much for this comment!! I can occasionally get quite self conscious about my piano playing, so even though this video is a few years old it means a lot!
I always find playing on camera or mic very hard. When the recording is off everything is perfect as soon as the red light goes on everything goes wrong, so you’re doing brill. 😊

This is wonderful! Making a medley from the Heaven Sent suite was a great idea. Bravo on the Mind Palace piece - impressive!

This is incredible, one of my all time favourite piano adaptations of a Doctor Who piece!
