    In sample zone A, I'm finding that the pitch shifting is also affecting the tempo. Is this expected? I am aware that's a typical audio effect (as to shift the pitch up, you speed up the audio) but also that it's possible to process audio tones without affecting the tempo. I think I hear the same in your samples (ie 8 minute mark). Can anyone confirm? Is this possible to fix, as it really limits being able to use samples with a rhythm in a song. Thanks so much!

    Hi !All the samples you have provided sounds like *industrial techno* style ? Is that right? so this sampling functionality is useful for DJ like minded guys. What about using it for a sax sound? As far as I can see it's not useful for the two reasons ; first, B-C-D-E zones are limiting the upper key range, and secondly, one recorded sample for the whole keys is not going to be good looking anyway... ?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah I've found this and all samplers to be quite terrible when it comes to acoustic sounds like saxophone. A sampler is artificial-sounding by nature, you have to let it be what it is. So bleeps, noises and sound effects are usually the best things for sampling :)

    I am tempted to buy a E463. I read in the manual that you can save the samples on the USB stick and load them from the USB stick later when needed. Are the samples saved in WAV format ? Can we put our own samples (and rename them SMPLnnn so that the instrument accept them) ? If it's possible, do you think that if the sample contain loop informations the E463 is able to interpret them ?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 роки тому

      This is a great question. Sadly, the sample files are VERY inflexible. You can't interchange with .wav so you can't import your own samples. You also can't edit the samples you create on the 463 at all. You record a sample, and that's how it will stay for ever, in .qsf format which can't be opened by any other software. UNLESS some cool person out there will create some software for this purpose. I would LOVE THAT!!! I still think it's a great keyboard though, purely because it's just so fun to use.

    I’m surprised, but to my broken ears it sounds as if the 463 sampling engine is quite gritty?! I‘m not that interested in the keyboard itself but I‘m always on the hunt for sampling toys. Would you say that the 463 imparts a bit of character to the sampled sounds?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Musique, yes I'd say it imparts a bit of personality on the samples. The stereo pickup is excellent I think. The management of samples is a bit painful, very slow and limited. And I really don't like its lack of trigger-recording and inability to set start/end times. But it's enjoyable to mix samples with the synth sounds. I personally love this machine, but I guess if you were 90% in the sampler business then you might find it too annoying to use :) #gearfacts

      @@gearfacts So, if i use the Mic In port, and get a microphone with XLR to P10 cable i can record my voice sound and input on the bank of sounds to use on zone A sampler like a tone? Understand that i"ll only buy the ew410 if i can use the mic to capture samples of ambient sounds, including my own voice.

    • @heliotron8042
      @heliotron8042 4 роки тому

      In a Casio CTK 4400 or 5200 i can even use an aux input to plug in a mic with XLR / P2 adapter and use it for sampling, without a dedicated mic input. The problem is that this is used on the entire keyboard. I like the possibility of dividing the keyboard into 4 octaves in "Pitch Sampler" and an octave with Yamaha loops.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 роки тому +1

      @@heliotron8042 Ok I think I can see what you mean. Yes you can record your voice as a sample. The only tricky part is that the sampling input of the 463 is just a tiny 3.5mm stereo socket. But I'm pretty sure that P10 will be fine - if not I'm sure you can get an adapter very cheaply from an electronics store. So yes, I think the PSRE463 will do everything you want it to. It can even provide a bit of input boost which will help if your mic is passive. Let me know how it goes! In fact if you send me some video I'd be happy to create a demo from it :)
