Woohoo Marilyn I tell you every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Just watching this video has me excited to no end. You know I’ve been trying to learn Inkscape. ❤ Thank you so very much❤❤❤ Marilyn
Very succinct tutorial. To the point and simple to follow. Thats something that seems hard to find with these types of tutorials. Very neat editing trick too btw, thanks!
Marilyn, I did not know this could be done in Inkscape. Thank you so much for sharing. I want to know if this can be done in Silhouette Business edition?
I'm sure it can but I haven't done it in Silhouette. I only use it for rhinestone templates. I will play around with it to see if I can figure it out. Thanks so much for watching!
Your videos are great! I love how calm you are and explain everything clearly. I have a question? I have an outline and I'm trying to fill it with an image. Is there a way to fill that out line to where the image resizes and shapes to the outline?
MARILYN! You used a word so befitting for how I feel about this video because it was great! I'm downloading Inkscape (again) so I can give it another try. No extra layers to delete once you've "clipped" the two layers like you have to do when you slice in Cricut is a big plus! Awesome tutorial 🙌🏾🙌🏾🌹
@@MakingwithMarilyn so I had an image that I wanted to place over another image....however I decided to recreate it as an SVG then use your steps. So I ended up doing exactly what you showed in your video. Thank you!
Omg super helpful. I've never used inkspace but now I'll try but I will need one on one help. I learn from doing not reading. If you can help, let me know.
Hi Andrea! Thanks for watching! I am going to put together a series of short videos that will help people get started in Inkscape and introduce some processes (like the one in this video) that are good to know for crafters. What I did when I started was watched various UA-cam videos about the basics of Inkscape and then I just played around in it. Pretty soon, it all made sense and now I absolutely love it! I am definitely willing to help also!
I'm glad the video was still helpful. Inkscape has changed a bit since then, but the concepts are the same, so I left the video up:) Thanks so much for your lovely comment!!!
I did exactly what you did and everything disappeared. I did it multiple times with different graphics and they all just disappear and leave me with a blank canvas. Very frustrated.
I'm sorry it isn't working for you. You do have to follow the particular steps for svgs, pngs, etc. TroyTube is an excellent teacher and has some similar videos. You might try to watch some of his.

Thank you so much for taking the time to teach people this program!! You've been an Angel for me!!!
You’re welcome. Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment!!!
Thank you for this video. You mentioned other files types would work, could you tell me which ones?
You can do this with JPEGs and PNGs as the "fill" layer. There may be others, but this is what I use. Thanks for watching!

If the inside image is an svg you could possibly use editing points or nodes to warp it yourself but I’m really not sure. Sorry I couldn’t help more.
Great Tutorial! Can this method be used for making SVG for Glowforge as well?
No, unfortunately, this would not work well for that. Thank you for watching!
@@MakingwithMarilyn ok thanks. Would you be able to show how to that? I’m trying to learn to create my own Glowforge files in Inkscape
Thank you, Marilyn. You're a great teacher!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you kind words.

This was a great tutorial. Inkscape has always been intimidating to me. You make it look so easy.

Do you happen to have a video on doing this on Photopea?
I'm sorry, but I do not. I've never used Photopea.
Hey Marilyn, love the video. Stil waiting on the Inkscape class.
Thank you! Do you have Inkscape downloaded to your computer already?
@@MakingwithMarilyn Yes, I just stare at it. I am retired on a fixed income and don't want to create a paid account ie Canva.

Hi, is there anyway you can help me? I am using two svg files and every time I hit the button to fill in my design it goes away 😢
If you email me the two files, I can see what is going on.

When i object click and set all of it deletes 😢😢😢
Oh no, I'm sorry. Is the image you are using as your "cookie cutter" a path and the other an object?
