The greatest female singer this world has ever known and no-one will never come close to the wonderful Karen Carpenter some are close...annie lennox....rumer....celine dion.....
My parents made me listen to the Carpenters when I was a teenager and man did I resent that at the time! Only later in life did I return to this music and gain appreciation for just what superlative talents were on display. Lovely simply lovely. 'For All We Know' is my favorite of theirs.
@@personalcheeses8073 that's true. she really isn't underrated. her voice is loved by countless people around the world, and many other artists in the music industry have praised her voice; for example, barbra streisand, john lennon, paul mccartney, petula clark, toni tennille (from captain and tennille), madonna, elton john, gwen stefani, k.d. lang, etc.
A great talent and their song 'We Only Just Begun" was the wedding song at almost every wedding I went to in the 80"s. The music was always soothing and made you feel great. They had several TV specials and were very popular, many a male date was dragged to their concert or if you needed forgiveness for messing up, buy tickets to the Carpenters and you were instantly forgiven and got your second chance (LOL)!! Just watching both of you react during the song said it all, happy, surprised and very mellow!!
When I was a little girl my sister sang this song to me because my hair was very blonde and very curly. She has since passed but this song has such memories for me. ty for listening to it.
Three women’s voices bring me to tears- Karen Carpenter,Celine Dion( Titanic),And Linda Ronstadt. You two are my favorite music reviewers. You let the music play, you are knowledgeable about the music you do,and you give each other the real chance to give a heartfelt reaction.I will become one of your best patrons.
I love hard rock, prog, metal music., but i always go back too The Carpenters because of Karen Carpenters fantastic voice. One of the finest woman vocals from the 70s, I also own two albums of theres on vinyl.
I agree with a lot of the other posts... Karen Carpenter's voice was amazing... She had perfect tone and perfect timing ,and a lower register than a lot of other singers... Very soothing to the ears.. i Believe her voice range is called a contralto If I'm not mistaken.
Top of the world. Superstar. Yesterday once more. We’ve only just begun. I won’t last a day without you. There are many others, but these would be wonderful.
Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The Carpenters recorded this one, but many of their songs were recorded by Dionne Warwick or other artists. Please consider reacting to some other Bacharach and David songs: (There's) Always Something There to Remind Me (Warwick); Do You Know the Way to San Jose? (Warwick); I'll Never Fall in Love Again (Warwick); I Say a Little Prayer (Warwick); The Look of Love (Dusty Springfield); One Less Bell to Answer (The Fifth Dimension); Promises, Promises (Warwick); Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head (B.J. Thomas); This Guy's in Love with You (Herb Alpert); Walk on By (Warwick); What the World Needs Now Is Love (Jackie DeShannon). Thanks!
Great video guys, I couldn't have said it better. Karen's pure, warm and velvety tone calms the soul! In my opinion, vocally she set the the bar sky high and has no equal! Peace!!☮
My sister used to sing this song to me when I was a little girl. I have really blonde hair and when I was a little girl it was very curly and frizzy, I hated my hair, but she sang this song to me and made me feel better about myself, she has since died from an accidental overdose. Her doctor prescribed two different medications that had an effect on each other and it killed her. Every time I hear this song I think of her. ty for reacting to it! You both are great people. :)
RIP Karen Carpenter..The trumpet that you hear in the song is played by Herb Alpert, the "A" in A&M records, which happened to be the label The Carpenters were signed to at the time...
Mixed feelings listening to the Carpenters , her voice wast a gift to us but her early loss is so sad. She was a reluctant star that was humble and wanted a simpler life.
She was an awesome drummer too. She was playing them in this song. She also played the base too. I think! It was perfect but her brother still just re did it. The name of the CD is CARPENTERS WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
This song reminds me of My blonde blue eyed baby brother who passed away at the age of 18 my baby brother was about 3 when this song came out xxx RIP baby Ken never forget you 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Herb Alpert played the trumpet on this song...He called Karen "One Take Karen.' rarely did they need to do any retakes on her singing. That is how pure and good her voice was. She truly was something special. Priceless! Great reaction as always.

Excellent song. A bit different from Rush but also in my collection.😊You might also like to compare this to The Eagles, New Kid in Town, another excellent song which has some similarities in subject matter.
Close to You is a lovely song, although it's probably more about infatuation. One of the saddest songs I've ever heard about love is Karen Carpenter's SAY GOODBYE TO LOVE. ua-cam.com/video/jixeE8gkT-s/v-deo.html Listen to the lyrics. See what you think, Karen wanted love, marriage, and children in her life, but it never worked out. She was married once, but she and her husband, who did not treat her well, broke up. Not long after that she went into the hospital for treatment for anorexia nervosa. GOODBYE TO LOVE seems to describe Karen's sadness in that she could not find the love she wanted.
I grew up on the Carpenters, so Karen’s voice is nostalgic for me. I am pleased that you love them, too.
Simply the best female singer I've ever heard!
agreed...
Joe Macinnis the song is ok, this is all about the singer.... pure class
What a gift she was given!
A voice of silk - Karen Carpenter. Gone too soon. We could sure use your music these days. Great reaction!
The most pure, soothing angelic voice I’ve ever heard or will probably ever hear again. Amazing tone and just plain smooth.
Karen had a once in a lifetime voice. amazing.
once in two lifetimes voice...
Karen had one of the most beautiful and melodic voices
ever.
The reactions are 👍 Great.
And she is playing the drums...what a talent.
The voice of an Angel, an unspeakable tradgedy
I grew up 3 miles from Carpenter's home :)
The greatest female singer this world has ever known and no-one will never come close to the wonderful Karen Carpenter some are close...annie lennox....rumer....celine dion.....
Written by the legendary song writers Hal David and Burt Bacharach + the voice of Karen Carpenter = match made in heaven.
The song has that unmistakable Bacharach/David lilt.
The carpenters made some truly beautiful songs and this is one of their best.
Great reaction and summary.
Karen’s voice touches my soul.
My parents made me listen to the Carpenters when I was a teenager and man did I resent that at the time!
Only later in life did I return to this music and gain appreciation for just what superlative talents were on display. Lovely simply lovely.
'For All We Know' is my favorite of theirs.
The world lost a magical voice when she passed away. She was a beautiful Lady, and it was so easy to get lost in the soothing sound of her voice.
Karen was phenomenal. Singer spectacular, and an excellent drummer. Richard, her brother, is a musical genius. TY, 💖. More Carpenters, please!
Karen Carpenter🎤 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😍😍😍 the most beautiful singing voice PURE HONEY AND SILK
It seems like my mom becomes an Angel sining lullaby for me...such a beautiful motherly voice
This is in G and from one of the purest voices in recorded music. She was a drummer, also!
Incredible voice. One of the most under rated singers in music. She has perfect pitch. She is quite a good drummer also.
Best female vocalist ever.
Underrated by who? I only ever hear people say how amazing she was

I sang this to my firstborn son at his baptism party. It fit so well, n I feel that way now that he’s 26.
When I was a little girl my sister sang this song to me because my hair was very blonde and very curly. She has since passed but this song has such memories for me. ty for listening to it.
Dude you are a lucky man.. what a beautiful woman.. treasure her, never let her go..
She did have the most beautiful voice. Sadly died very young.
Suggestion: Another beautiful voice of the 70's- Linda Ronstadt.
Indeed another one of a kind. Karen was pure silk though.

I'm so amazed how these beautiful awesome songs come together and we are blessed for them 🥰
Karen is playing the drums while she is singing. Her brother and Karen were awesome.
Karen has always been my favorite singer

Sweet song. Little side note, Karen, in addition to singing, played the drums!
Great singer and wonderful backup. Music was great. Clear voice and could hear the words---how refreshing.
Great reaction, y'all. I'd love to see more on the Carpenters from you two.
Make Believe It’s Your First Time is just beautiful
Both of you are very sympatic... and have a very good musical taste! Thanks for posting that!
If you love this song, you’ll probably love Yesterday Once More. Also by the Carpenters.
Mixed feelings listening to the Carpenters , her voice wast a gift to us but her early loss is so sad. She was a reluctant star that was humble and wanted a simpler life.
people also should give her brother credit, he was also very talented

Karen also played the drums while singing many of their songs...
Karen was my first crush. The carpenter's sound is so great. Totally against the grain at the time.

A lot of people don't know that besides being the lead singer she also played the Drums in this song.
Head banging to the Carpenters? I love it.
Karen Carpenter played the drums as well....Very talented !!!
Thank you for the memories
Superstar is a great Carpenters song. Karen sings it with such emotion and conviction
The most golden female voice in music history. You should hear the song called Solitaire.
A big discovery in 1970 for me. Can still work the magic apparently!

I love watching you react to the Carpenters! My favourite of theirs is "Only Yesterday" so I'd love to see you react to that! I think you would love it ❤️
