As another music producer, this is my guess: Each "phase" for all of the boss music in the game is designed to sound interesting and varied when it plays on loop during a fight so it doesn't get annoying. While James Landino's original rendition (what you hear in the OST) sounds fine, that's because it only plays once instead of a loop. So essentially, when they implemented the song into the boss fight, the original mix probably sounded too repetitive when looped. Mixing up the verses created a chord progression that still fit the song's motif, but flowed more actively and sounded more varied when looped in-game. Again, just an educated guess!

Actually the vocals are a part of their attacks not the soundtrack itself as far as I am aware, so unless they added them in manually, I don't think it'd be possible

I love seeing Neon-J's dancing boy-band factory in the background while listening to this, and could you make versions with only certain phases, like one with only Phase 3-4's EDM versions?
It would be sooo good if you could put in their vocals and the lazer shooting sfx in another Version! If I remember correctly, a big chunk of the Phase 1 Music is used for the starting cutszene (about halfway I think) so that's whan they start actually singing.
