Shovel Knight is a 2D side-scrolling platform game. The game features 8-bit graphics designed to resemble classic games. While the color scheme used adheres to the Nintendo Entertainment System's original color palette, the game features modern graphical techniques, such as parallax scrolling.[1] The player controls the eponymous Shovel Knight character, who wields a sharpened shovel that is used to attack enemies, destroy barriers, and dig up treasures. As an homage to the game DuckTales, the player can use the shovel as a pogo stick to bounce off obstacles or the heads of enemies.
Also I love how every boss waits out at the end like "I'll tag in soon dude!"
Mole knight is like "I wonder when the chips will arrive ._."
Specter knight just sits there, shaking his head whenever another knight falls in battle. "I'm not even mad, I'm just disappointed.."

The boss battles are amazing! The special mention goes to the boss battles against Tinker Knight and Black Knight round 3 because for the former, we thought that this was so pathetic and easy but after beating him the first time, he hops onto a mecha and shows how dangerous he can be. Lastly for the latter (BKR3), the last two battles were very good but BK got enhanced and become very challenging. TV Tropes even compared the battle to Dante vs. Virgil from Devil May Cry 3 and it looks like it, indeed!

very good game, beat it about a week ago and in my opinion the easiest bosses were: Black knight 1 (first boss so he should be easy) King knight (second easiest boss, he has nothing you need to worry about, wait for him to jump to you then pogo shovel him) and tinker knight (first form is cake, second form is easy too if you know what to do, stand slightly to the left of the turret shooter then when he lunges at you with good timing you can jump and get a few pogo shovels in racking up serious damage. the hardest in my opinion were: treasure knight, propeller knight

That boss rush at the end was so fucking hard.
The only boss in this game who I considered a problem was plague knight especially in the tower of fate in New game + all the other knights in bossrush are a cakewalk but I almost always lose to plague knight I mean he just WONT STAND STILL! It is really annoying and hes throwing these potions everywhere and they are almost impossible to evade but hè is still my favourite knight of the order of no quarter.

Most of the levels/bosses are nods to other video games. For example, King Knight's stage resembles a dungeon (or level I guess) from Zelda 2.

i love how this guy uses spam tags on his description even though he is managed. If someone reported you to SPAM404 you'll be dead and your network.
I think its because, unlike some other managed, he keeps them relevant.

Propeller Knight

When polar knight is in the corner, throw a bunch of combat orbs, makes him the easiest boss in the game by far.
The easiest boss must be the final form of the final boss. Just bounce on her head al the time and she can't touch you!

Those are my top 4 as of now. Black Knight is just too easy.
Propeller Knight is easy with the parasal power up. Plague Knight is a punk who can't stand still. And Polar Knight so far is the hardest boss I challenged, those snowballs don't give a ****

Oh you mean propeller dager?
To me, Tinker Knight is the easiest. In the first round against him, you can easily take him out using the mobile gear you find in his lair. Just one hit while you're riding it and he's done. In the second round you can easily find that sweet spot of where to pogo on his head and time your jumps around the third missile so you wouldn't even need to stop as much or at all. Also when the tank charges, if you're standing at the right spot you wouldn't even fall off so you can pogo the rest of the time he backs up as this uploader did. It's all about rhythm with Tinker.

Now that it's since been announced that this game will come out on the PlayStation consoles for next year and they'll feature Kratos as a guest boss, will you upload that boss battle?
You're fighting Spectre Knight like a bitch... Go all out like I did.
I think what annoyed me the most is that the player was relying far too much on the charged attack. To the point of sacrificing several hit points unnecessarily just to always hit with it.
DisturbedKoala Older play better and are more satisfying at the end when you win. I love new games, Bayonetta 2 has a fair difficulty curve if you want to dominate everything on hard mode.
Freedom Planet I like slightly like better than Shovel Knight because you have multiple characters and a sonic/mega man fan game.
Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet are the best games of 2014.
MALayhee700 I would have to award best game of the year to Smash Wii U and 3DS, with Shovel Knight being in a close second.
PsychicVortex As much as I love Smash, I don't think it should be considered best of any year it comes out because it's just a classic instant win no matter what version it is. Shovel Knight was a hit when it launched and it deserved all the praise and recognition it got. Although I personally don't know what I would have given the best game of the year considering I don't remember all of the ones that came out that year, and I played many in past few years.

*Y'know guyz, I think there should be more Knight variantz in da next Shovel Knight game. For instance, Futuristic Knight. He'd have a jetpack an' fly around armed wit' a sci-fi Bullshit Rifle. It shoots LAZORZ. Pew pew pew! There should be a Clown Knight, based on Pennywise the Clown. We all float here, and you WILL float, mwhahahaha!!!! Or how 'bout a Candy Knight? Attackin' wit' a lollipop, jumpin' around on sweet taffy stringz, an' shootin' Baby Ruth and Hershey candybars, that'll make yer teeth rot an' fall out! Now there are a couple of fine ideas! :D*

how come I couldn't get an extra life to fight against the 2nd boss? I keep having to fight against it with 4 circles instead of 5
if you are talking about circles on the health bar, you need to go to the village and buy a meal ticket from the goat dude, and then jump up to the platform above him and the chef will cook you a meal that will raise your maximum health.
Shovel Knight would be fantastic as a Smash bros character

How do you get infadagger? (I haven't got far in the game)
You have to buy the Amiibo and level it up, the level you obtain it is random, I got it at Lv 23 for an example.
Don't forget to "HELLOOOOOOO" whenever you use it.

In the first village, one screen below the goat and the food and magic people, go a screen to the right and the 4 armed guy sells it to you.
