GPX 6000 Shaft water mod

Quick video to show a mod I did on the GPX 6000 over a year ago as found water was coming up the inside of the shaft and dribbling over the brain of the detector when sat on the bank or whenever the coil was raised above the unit after coming out of the water, worked for me so thought I'd share , only an issue if you detect in creeks or where the coil and some of the shaft is going under water an expensive machine less water around the brain end (not water proof )the better

Could you not put a plug in further down the shaft at one of the cam lock joints? Dismantling the detector at the top end may void the warranty. Good to know that water can come down & do what you were saying. Cheers. :)

I found that the inner shaft slides up inside so needs to be up that end you could put it in at the join and push it up I guess , hopefully doesn't avoid the warranty comes apart really easy and there is no warranty stickers ,kinda a poor factory design but I guess they mainly are used in the dry

I also figured it would be a better option than to allow water dribbling over the unit as that would some how void the warranty even tho they say it's splash proof... im alot more carefully now about how I sit the machine down now and move it around after being in the water haha also remove the inner shaft piece when I get home let it all dry out works a treat 👍
