My adventures looking for gold with detectors and sniping in a beautiful creek in the South Island of New Zealand, I love watching other people's gold prospecting videos so I thought I make and share my own, all prospecting done with the correct permissions etc to do it legally here in NZ 👍
Detecting and chasing under water gold
A day away detecting and gold sniping, was ground i have previously been over a few times so wasn't expecting a lot, still plenty of rubbish removed from the creek and the odd bit of gold as well.

A trip away detecting and sniping enjoying the outdoors and finding hidden gold under and around waterfalls, the gold was a bit patchy and hard to find at times but good result and a great time away from the world.
GPX 6000 Shaft water mod

Quick video to show a mod I did on the GPX 6000 over a year ago as found water was coming up the inside of the shaft and dribbling over the brain of the detector when sat on the bank or whenever the coil was raised above the unit after coming out of the water, worked for me so thought I'd share , only an issue if you detect in creeks or where the coil and some of the shaft is going under water ...

A trip away with my dad in the outdoors searching for hidden gold, the weather turned a bit average so the creek level came up but managed to get some good gold before it became to high

A cold day spent looking for gold found the first piece within 20 minutes of detecting, took 6 more hours of searching the freezing creek to find the next gold target. don't think the Gopro liked the cold started playing up and didn't record last pocket of gold so there wasn't much footage.

A quick day trip to look for some gold went back to the spot i got the my biggest nugget and got on to the gold again waters are getting cold and alot more flow as winter approaches

After getting hit with the covid stick for the first time and finally recovered, managed to make it back up to the creek for a golden day of sniping, detecting and exploring.

First time using Gold Hawk coil in my favourite creek in NZ worked a treat producing the biggest gold haul in one trip to date, must of had water in the mic on the gopro so might have to use your imagination is a bit muffled 👍

A cloudy afternoon detecting tried out the big 14inch coil for the first time as was having some issues with the 11 inch, found my biggest piece of gold to date was a bit of a surprise after digging up lots of trash

Another day at the creek detected a spot i had previously thought i had cleaned out, but swung the coil over it on the way past on the way to a new spot, got a great surprise just goes to show you don't always get it all

Another day searching for gold in the creek using a GPX 6000 and gold bug2, i find the gold bug is really great at pinpointing targets and iron reject is super handy as well

Could you not put a plug in further down the shaft at one of the cam lock joints? Dismantling the detector at the top end may void the warranty. Good to know that water can come down & do what you were saying. Cheers. :)
I found that the inner shaft slides up inside so needs to be up that end you could put it in at the join and push it up I guess , hopefully doesn't avoid the warranty comes apart really easy and there is no warranty stickers ,kinda a poor factory design but I guess they mainly are used in the dry
I also figured it would be a better option than to allow water dribbling over the unit as that would some how void the warranty even tho they say it's splash proof... im alot more carefully now about how I sit the machine down now and move it around after being in the water haha also remove the inner shaft piece when I get home let it all dry out works a treat 👍

Nice Gold. My main question is are the eggs home grown and if so is double and triple yolkers common, l'm familiar with doubles but triple. What a protein burst 😍 for only 2 eggs. Cool video. Cheers 🍻
Yeah mate eggs are free range home grown, according to google double yoker is 1 in 1000 odds triple is 1 in 25 million odds I got 2 triple yoke eggs in the same week seems to be when they start learning to laying for the first time they get a bit mixed up I guess poor chicken trying to push that out 😳

Great video. I like that Nokta bag - looks ideal for the shovel and pans etc: i'm fed up with traditional rucksack design and your Nokta caught my eye - is it comfortable on a very long hike ?
It sits on your back real nice and has heaps of places to put stuff only issues I've had with it is the stitching for the shoulder straps wasnt great both broke after a few outings apart from that is a nice pack 👍
Nothing like a day playing in the water and finding some golden bits as a bonus:)

Nice finds. Wouldn't have thought the 14" was the coil of choice for in the creek.
Cheers JW ,Definitely not the 11 is difficult enough to push under water was only useing the 14 to try on the edge creek area as the 11 glitching still found it but 10x5 seems to do the job for me in the creeks tho the first 10x5 only lasted 3 trips before it failed sent it back was water damage so done a few we mods to the new one 👍

Yes the gold can be pretty patchy at times but there is nice chunky bits hiding away and isn't to deep 👍

Is the gold bug 2 waterproof
yip it is water proof coil etc up to the control box have had no issues with it still completely original has done alot of work over probally had it 10 year with the coil in and out of the water good detector once you get used to it 👍
