I'm always blown away by this style of painting. How you're able to block everything in place with no sketch and nothing gets lost in translation is amazing.
The first steps could always be considered as a sketch, its just different, instead of making lines you start sketching with colors and shapes, makes it more fluid and careless, you can get a lot more done in way less time.
