    I use the grandkids old plastic beads, perfect for the job and are reuseable

    Dishwasher salt is a good mild abrasive. Unlike sand, beads, rice etc, there is no danger of residue/stuck bits. It will always dissolve and wash away.

    Think ice cubes would work just as well as the rice. Rice is just the right size, that if you don't get it all out may plug up spray nozzles or the radiator.

    • @FastRust
      @FastRust  3 роки тому

      It probably would. To be honest you could use all sorts. I just go with rice because it's readily available. But you're right, you do need to make sure you get it all out after.

    I found gravel works best. It's hard and sharp, just what you want.

      I did the same, had some fish tank gravel added some bleach and water, loads of shaking and a cleaner bottle. Its also reuseable, or though the fish were not to impressed.

    I find the cooked rice difficult to eat afterwards. Besides the horrible bleachy taste, the fork doesn't fit inside the lid very well.

    im looking for a way to clean my coolant tank, but there are some compartments in it so if i used something like rice i doubt i would get it all out.

    hello my friend, just put sand with small gravel stones mixed with rust removers from clothes or vinegar and shake it and it will clean everything

      @@FastRust cheers, I've just bought one. I've been looking on ebay for a couple of weeks trying to see something that would fit without paying big money for the metal version. When it arrives I'm going to follow your video to clean it before fitting!

    • @FastRust
      @FastRust  3 роки тому +1

      Nice one. Yeah it fits in the scuttle well. Having said that I've not plumbed it yet. I've just bought a motor and connector plug off ebay for £12 that I hope will fit it. Still going to be a lot cheaper than those metal ones.

      @@FastRust mine come with the motor that I hope works. It was £35 all in. More than I like for an old part but susuki cappuccino ones are £60+ if you can even find one

    • @FastRust
      @FastRust  3 роки тому +1

      Pretty much what I've spent. £20 for bottle then £12 for the motor, not bad considering what you can spend on this relocation 👍 Let me know how you secure it because I haven't figured that bit out yet.

    Found out cat litter not a good idea at least not purine 24/7 performance should've just done the rice. Tried it in my 2002 Jeep WJ overflow tank and it clumped up into a mess that has been hard to get out. The Jeep overflow has two narrow tubes built into it and those are the last spots I need to somehow get the litter out of now. Maybe a less clumping kind would work or maybe oil absorbent pellets. I think even sand would be better than what I just did haha!

    • @FastRust
      @FastRust  3 роки тому

      I threw the cat litter option in there as I know some people use it, I've always stuck with rice, & after your blazing review I'll probably continue to do so! Can you get some compressed air in there to blast it out?

    • @Andrew-kw2bk
      @Andrew-kw2bk 3 роки тому

      @@FastRust I was actually able to let it sit in the sun to dry out for several days and the clumps lost their "stickiness" to the tank and crumbled when I stuck a small wire inside. So it's all clean now. Next time I will do rice as you did since it obviously works better. Different litters might still work the problem with that particular litter could just be it was designed to stick to wetness and make clumps for cleaning litter boxes easier.

      Before attempting to clean these bottles, it's advisable to check the price of a new replacement. I recently bought a new coolant bottle for a Cadillac on eBay for $15 Murican. At that price it was hardly even worth the effort to clean the old one, although I did save the old one just in case. As for the rice, it's much more effective to use stainless steel tumbling media, the kind that used in tumbler type cleaners.
