I was keen to attempt this with mine before i sold it. The rear IRS cage was rusted beyond recognition. I really should have checked before buying. It was MOT'd not long before I purchased it which was shocking, with the rear discs shot, diff leaking, indicators not working. Are you a trained mechanic or self-taught? You seem to know these cars very well. 3.6 AJ6, straight 6, with manual gearbox is a rare combination these days. Beautiful.
Hi Nathan, Thanks for the message! It was a leap into the unknown for me. I'm just an enthusiastic amateur, but empowered by friends on the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club forum. I've also owned XJ--Ss for the last 25 years. This was the first big reconditioning job I've undertaken on my Jag, although I have rebushed and re-finished the front suspension on my Vanden Plas Maestro. That was a lot less complicated. The 3.6 manual is a rare car these days; unbelievably, the manual was the default factory spec, with automatic being a cost option. A lot of Fat Cats in the 80s and 90s were too lady to change their own gears I guess. 👍🏻
Jag enthusiasts will enjoy watching this video! Thumb up!
