Bricks that resemble the smaller interlocking plastic building blocks used in Lego toy sets are being produced by a German company in hopes of revolutionising the construction industry. The start-up Polycare in the eastern town of Suhl says its reusable building blocks provide a faster alternative to traditional building methods.

There is more to a building than just lego. And obviously they plastered the house and the bricks only build the shell. That doesn't cost less than brickwork or cardboard and much more than straw and clay.

The envelope of the structure worries me too. I didn’t really see how insulation was provided. So unless you live somewhere that’s 75 all the time, you’re gonna have a crazy inefficient hvac system. So great idea for less developed countries, but unless this idea kinda blends with modern day design. I think they’d have a more successful project

Yep, these are shelters. I think it's perfectly acceptable that they be used In that matter. You're not going to have plumbing or electrical unless you frame inside. But then it's no longer a 37k/1wk job. But as basic protection from the elements, I'm totally on board with this over nothing at all.

You have to remember that building codes change depending on the type of building and they could very well possibly build this in germany because the walls as they say are just as sturdy. Electrical, plumbing, etc can be brought up to code just by modifying some of the designs to be perfectly acceptable by law. Dont insult innovation just because you arent creative enough to innovate. And plus they are doing a nice thing for nambia

There needs to be transparency in the content agents in the construction of these bricks as I have seen various vids on recycled materials, some of which re-use plastics some decades through dredging which contains toxics harmful through vaporaptic inhalation!
So what do these bricks contain as when you look-up online can contain harmful agents which purchasers are unaware of potentially dangerous. Too many of these 'entrepreneurs' are beginning businesses on the premise that we are somehow benefiting the environment when in fact not only are we risking health yet again, but also removing elements that bind this world. In thus example they're talking of local materials, what happens when we remove them and then move on to the next area.
We need better materials that we can safely re-use or fully sustainable types such as trees from which perhaps resins/fibres/bulk materials. Wood has been a long-term material supply until we discovered concretes/bricks etc and now it seems plastics yet we still risk life whether ourselves or the animal kingdom.
We need better innovation, ideas and a firm commitment to the balance of all we can create but not at the cost of failing in the long term, NOW!!!!🤔🤨😡
