I think the thing is that people searching for jobs don't want their current employer to be aware of that and see that they are actively looking from their status on LinkedIn.
There are jealous people who want to monitor your progress and compare themselves to others. I only want my profile to be visible to my approved followers, otherwise I will be deactivating my LinkedIn
Plan on deactivating your LinkedIn Account Gina. You can not do that. Maybe you don't care about my opinion, but here it is any way - That would be a big mistake to do that. Ignore the jealous people and focus on the people who may become important to your business or career. Be accessible and discoverable - this is the ultimate power of social networking platforms like LinkedIn. I hope you will be willing to think this way, because LinkedIn is a great place to be and to participate.
2:13 -- sometimes there is unhealthy competition in college and classmates judge/mock us and THUS, to protect ourselves from them, it might help if we could make it only visible to recruiters. anyways, thanks for letting know, that this feature is currently not available on LinkedIn.
I remember when I started my business. There were people who cajoled me for promoting myself as a social media strategist, although I had never done this work before. I stayed true to who I wanted to be and ignored those who had negative comments. Unfortunately there are a lot people like this in our world. It may be difficult to ignore those people while focusing on using LinkedIn and other tools to promote your developing professional brand. Good luck in your career journey.
At 00:27 I said, "Simple stated the answer is no." The rest of the video is showing what options you do have beyond the simple answer. I'm sorry you feel you wasted time watching the entire video, but appreciate that you did.
I agree, dealing with stalkers can be tedious. The best thing they can do for you is to have a LinkedIn account of their own, then you can block them. However, yes, unfortunately if your LinkedIn Profile is setup for maximum value, it needs to be publicly visible to those who are not logged into LinkedIn as well. Fortunately the general public can not engage with you, they have to login to LinkedIn, thus it reduces the problems with stalkers.
I dont want family members to see where Im at in life. Sometimes due to personal reason I dont wanna tell them where I work but then they see it on linked in.
If you want to use LinkedIn to get the best results, you will need to ignore those who you don't want to know about your professional business/career. If you keep this content off of LinkedIn, it will reduce the benefits of LinkedIn. However, do as you wish. Good luck
A stalking ex is the worst, especially when you don't want them to know anything that could help them stalk you. Not having a recruiter only feature sucks but oh well
Sir, can we send a email to LinkedIn support (if any) to allow a privacy feature which hides our profile from non connected members? I think in future, this option can be available if request can be made. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.
There is no email address to contact LinkedIn Support. All contact is via web pages. One URL you may want to use is www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/solve/feedback You can ask a question and the system is designed to collect feature requests as well. However - I do not think the app will ever allow hiding your LinkedIn Profile from people you are not connected to who are in your network (primarily 2nd level). That would be like going to a networking event in real life and being invisible. That's not how networking works best.
I understand that issue Turyahabwe. You have to do what you have to do. Knowing, the more you restrict content and information about who you are and what you do (want to do) on LinkedIn, the less value it will provide you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here.
So can I just show my potential employer my resume through the LinkedIn and still keep the information private like my resume and my personal address and so on I am new to this and I think it’s a really bad idea to just allow anyone and everyone to see your personal information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Don't put personal info on your resume. Put professional information about what you have done and what you can do, relevant to what you want to do. Ditto on your LinkedIn Profile.
So why didn't you just answer the question instead of providing your philosophy about restricting my profile viewing options.... People have reasons for limiting their profile. You should not have a title that suggests one thing and then you say something else.
I almost never say yes or no. My videos are about why and how as well as answering the questions I am asked. Thanks for giving my video 3 minutes of your day. at 0:28 I said "Simply stated, the answer is no". You apparently missed that.

I agree John. We have to be careful what we put out there.

@@TLBurrisscan blocking people on linkedin helps?
yes, Report & block quickly. I know this is important to do.
3 minutes and 15 secs to say: "can i make my linkedin profile only visible to specific people ? the answer is no."

Sister had a stalker. Because LinkedIn does not allow privacy to connections and connections only, she can not use the platform. This feature sucks

Hopefully blocking the bothersome ex will help. Good luck managing this issue cheeky.
I think this is why people stopped putting their full address on their CVs and Resumes.
@@johnmknox Even then they can see other things which could help them know where you are if you live in the same county
I would never put my full address on a resume. Only City/State.
i want to leave my job and don't want people to know lol
Don’t change your experience section info until you are ready.
haha

Andrew - yes or no answers do not help LinkedIn Members grow.
BTW I gave the yes/no answer at 0:27 in the video.
