Great to see you here Sherry, and glad to hear you found this useful! I learned a LOT about power pivot in making this...and in many ways feel like I'm still just grazing the surface!
Hi Josh, I used to build dashboards for pre sales around 15 years ago and after that I moved on to work in a medium sized financial organisation for a good 10+ years. This dashboard is very well organised and the view at 1:48 is great for a Financial Controller's perspective. A lot of organisations could benefit from this kind of layout, concise, crisp and straight to the point. Very well designed and way better than the stuff I have seen so far.
I've got a question regarding the different tabs in the workbook. CS, G&A, R&D have each their own figures filled in different section of the P&L, how am I supposed to work around that with my own startup data ? (My startup does not have that many sections as it is pre-revenue still
Thanks for watching! If your startup only has one department, you can just use the G&A tab for both actual and budget and disregard the remaining tabs. You won't be able to filter on expenses by department (since you only have 1), but everything else should still work
Hi Josh, what if your "from table/Range" does not recognises the table ranges that you created? (Power query does not detect the range that we created)16.20. Instead it ask "where is the data for your table" I hope that makes sense.
Yes! You most likely either did not create a named range, or you are not hovering over the exact named range you created. If you did both of those, it should pick it up! Otherwise it will try to convert it to a table.
Respected, my company works in 3 shifts(US, AUS, UK) and when an employee starts his/her shift , entry is made using ctrl+; & ctrl+shift+; , and similar thing is done when he/she takes break (2 times 30minutes in one day/shift) & also when completing day(8 hours). so doing 7:30 work in a continuous will make one day. (here US(night) shift person logs in @ 8 pm on a day and leaves @4 am next day). Anything above 7:30 is counted as Overtime and added in salary at overtime rate which is specified. Can you please make video showing how to make such dashbaord or calculation sheet.PLEASE PLEASE Zohar Batterywala
Be sure to grab the full dashboard & cheat sheet right here!

Outstanding work. I use Excel and Power Query daily. And sometimes Power Pivot, but not at this level. This is just awesome!

I downloaded the worksheets to follow along the video, but where is the "cheat sheet" you mentioned in the intro of the video?
You should be able to find that on the notion doc link in the instructions tab of the video - here it is again:

Thank you. Got em
That’s unique

Can you create with Macs Excel version?
Sadly I dont believe power pivot is available with Mac!

Hi im just wondering if we can also use Calculate function instead of sumx(filter ? Thanks dashboard is Impressive!
yes I believe so! to be honest I still am getting familiar with dax functions myself but to my understanding Calculate accomplishes this too.
@@yourcfoguy Thank you! You help me a lot!

Yeah I agree. But what I like about excel is u can customize data structures a lot more easily. Also everyone knows excel but few know pbi!
