  • Tour the RV part of "PhotoRV". Part studio. Part office. Part home. Part motorcycle trailer. Part AWESOME. See why the Grand Design Momentum 397TH is the perfect way to work, live, travel and explore as photographers and vloggers. We spent over a year researching the "perfect" vehicle for us and we nailed it. Actually, Grand Design nailed it. And we bought it.

    Thank you for sharing your home with us. It's always a treat to see them actually lived in and used. How they look loaded up and what fits where really helps in the review process, at least for myself. Safe travels and God Bless...

    This is exactly what we were thinking...a toy hauler. Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you, Nick! Thanks for being such a great "viewer". Ya' know what would fit PERFECTLY in the back of a toy hauler? A Slingshot (don't tell Trina). Just sayin'...

      Would the slingshot and bike combo fit or one or the other?

    • @photorv4096

      Would definitely be one or the other. We haven't tried to fit our two BIKES in the back yet but are going to attempt that for Sturgis.

    Great video! We're in the market for a TH as well and the 397 seems to be in our top 3 right now! Excellent feature exploration without overdoing the time spent on each thing! Nicely done!

      Thank you, Hop Pin! The rig is great but the company (Grand Design) is the shining star. We're not a good scientific study as this is the only RV we've ever owned but we read PLENTY of horror stories of owners being left out to dry after purchasing units from other manufacturers/retailers. Our retailer was an utter disaster. The manufacturer has made it more than right when we've needed them. There are other toy haulers. If there is a better one, I've never seen it. Thank you for writing, Hop! Welcome aboard!

    Great review. We have a bumper tow toy hauler. We want to upgrade to a fifth wheel toy hauler. Yours seems great! I am a corporate pilot as well.

    Hello! We live in Okinawa, Japan and plan to move to TX in August to start our full time Rv journey. We plan on buying a GD 397th as well. Thank you for the wonderful tour. It’s nice to see a video of people just starting out. We are new subscribers. Hubby is a former Marine and an Air Traffic Controller, so we look forward to stories around a campfire. Oh! We will also be buying a motorcycle. We had a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 before. Thinking of Indian or Harley.

      JARHEAD AND GINGER! Konnichiwa! Thank you for writing and so sorry for the delayed response. Jackie and I are looking to running in to (figuratively) you on the road sometime. You will love the 397TH. It is great in every aspect except for its size (which doesn't bother us).
      You're cleared direct to the nearest INDIAN dealer then proceed as requested. Maintain the most fun ever until further advised.
      Please write again when you're able. We'll be better responders in future. See you soon!

    Hey guys, loved the video and your rv!! My wife and I have a Fuzion 417 and a Street Glide, very similar setup as you. I will say, the 397 has caught my attention on a few things and may switch at some point. We do love our Fuzion, I just think that GD really has it down pat though. Safe travels!

    • @photorv4096
      @photorv4096  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you, Nate! The Fuzion 417 was a strong contender when we were looking. I don't know much about Keystone but really like the layout of the 417. Very close to the 397TH. We do feel "lucky" to be in the GD family. The RV as great and the company is really awesome. I think the industry has a long way to go in the customer support department (better manuals, better on the road support, shorter service turnaround times, etc.) but Grand Design seems to do pretty well in those areas. Hope to see you guys on the road sometime! Are you going to Sturgis this year?

    • @Midlifeglamping
      @Midlifeglamping 4 роки тому

      PhotoRV yeah, I hear ya on the customer service part, but I think a majority of them are like that unfortunately.. No Sturgis this year, but on the bucket list!

    Good tour of your 397TH. Where is your home base? Wife and I are surely looking towards the GD brand. Split right now between the Solitude FL and Momentum TH. Will be getting one or the other in a few years (trading in our current 5th Wheel). Keep us informed of any issues you may encounter. Safe Travels to you both.

    • @photorv4096
      @photorv4096  4 роки тому

      Thank you, RIX! We love the Momentum but there are a LOT of Solitudes and people seem to love them. The size of the Momentum is restrictive at times but it always feels like being "at home" wherever we are and that was the point of the "big" toy hauler. Living room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms (both with useable showers), 4 TVs, two large bedrooms, garage, office, ability to haul a 900# motorcycle AND 30 gallons of premium gas to fill it SIX TIMES without needing a gas station. There are places we can't drive our 30,000 pound rig. There are places we can't park our 60' rig (with truck attached). There are places we can't drive our 9,000 pound truck! It can't go EVERYWHERE but we are always damn close to an extension of our actual house. We dig that.
      We'll be advising here of any "issues". It's an RV so issues never end.

    What camera gear do you use. What lapel mic setup. Please

    • @photorv4096
      @photorv4096  4 роки тому

      All our videos are recorded with the Canon M6 and iPhone X and 11Pro. 90% with the M6. We use iPhones for recording completely on the fly when we're not "officially" recording. We use a Rode camera mounted mike on the M6 for running around but are more and more using two Rode lavelier mikes (1 each) into a Tascam 70D digital recorder. We've constructed a cool/compact rig including the Tascam and both lavlier receivers. I'll do a video on our setup soon!

  • @4everlandrv988
    @4everlandrv988 4 роки тому

    Had a question, what kind of power do you use? Either I missed it or you didn't mention it in the video.
    Chief

    • @photorv4096
      @photorv4096  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Chief. For ship's power we seek out 50AMP connections. We're not very "purist" campers in that regard. We'll take 30AMPS and have used 20 when that is the option. We carry converters for all three. We DO run everything through a Hughes RV220-50SP Voltage Booster since we often have a lot of computer components running through the rig.
      When we ARE off the grid (rarely) we use our onboard Onan 5500 generator. We run the generator more to keep up with recommended cycle intervals than actually NEEDING it. We've powered the rig entire days while tailgating and heavy usage (4 TVs, 3 A/C units, refrigerator, microwave and all lights running all day) and it has performed flawlessly.
      We're strongly considering rooftop solar panels but have a stack of wishlist items vying for the top spot. Independent suspension and disc brakes, specifically.

      Will check out your channel right after replying. Can't recommend GD enough. Is the only RV we've ever owned so not versed in others but the COMPANY is awesome. We've chatted with the CEO, managers, toured the factory, leaned on them for support. Brilliant in every regard. That is counter to what we hear from a lot of others in the industry re: other manufacturers, service, etc. Thank you for subscribing and writing!
