OMG I love it. Also grandpas are so cute.
Love this! I just shared a pomelo with my kiddos last night, great timing. Thanks for the info!
Great job my old friend and thanks for sharing .❤
Good Day My Friend,
Thank you for Sharing How To Growing Pomelo, Very Nutritious Fruits, Watching From Camiguin Island Philippines, Take Care Always God Bless You and Your Family.
Nice fruit 😋 🍊
Nice fruit😊
Wow!!
You have found a fine tree that is so full of beautiful fruit Wendi! One thing about our older generations, not only their set ways, but more so the Wisdom that they share. Great story and resourcefulness by your Uncle of how he nurtures his plants. No wonder the fruit are so plentiful. Never thought of using a plant's peel as a source of direct hair nutrition. But is seems to work for your beautiful hair! Are your plants handling the stormy weather down there ok? -Bob...
So much wisdom and very humble! Hopefully I can share more of his knowledge and garden in the future. I actually haven't tried pomelo peel to wash hair, but I heard people swear by it in Vietnam. :D Some plants didn't make it from the rain and hail when I was away. Lots to catch up in the garden! Hope you are doing well Bob!
Nice video
Yummy😊
Now I want to grow it
Thankyou so much for this video. I grew pomelo from store bought pomelo. Germinated like a professional only for fun. Lately my son fell in love with eating them. I’m now determined to get them growing in the garden. Amazing and we can learn so much from our parents and each other. ❤
Hello lady, if you are in cold climate, plant pomelo in large grow bag. Fertilizer adequately and often with organic compost and manure. In cold weather bring it inside house and keep it near widow. It will give fruit 5 months of year from June to August.... Wish luck to you and happy eating to your baby son.
Oh, I love this Uncle's method because it reflects my own method of composting fertilizing my fruit trees. I just put every kitchen scrap spred around trees and it composts itself and builds soil. I don't even bother burying it. And till now I have wonderful result. I am lazy gardener and like using easy method working with nature.
Glad this is the method you are able to keep up for long term practice. 😄
Nice fruits as like you
thank you :)
I like them I sometimes dip it in white sugar if it’s too sour😅
Hello Wendi , the grapefruit looks so Juicy, Thank you for sharing.and also say Hi to uncle. 恭喜發財 新年快樂!
I will, Thank you! 新年快樂!身體健康!
Nice vedo
Ohooooo yaaaaaaaaa lol I hear u. Hmmmmmmmm. Yaaaaaaaaaa. Nice grapefruit hat
I've seen better wigs, but thank you! LOL!
@@wendiland hi windi from Las Vegas. U don’t need a wig with ur hair lol plus the worms 🐛 would be mad at you lol
I think I've bought many trees from that guy at his nursery. He's awesome. 👍
Maybe, but he's definitely a really nice guy. :)
Where is his nursery?
❤
Great video. Any tips if the pomelos from tree are very sour? Way to sweeten the fruit coming from the tree. So it would be more sweet when picked from tree?
You mentioned that there was a variety of pomelo that was sour? Happen to know which variety that is?
❤ Hello,,Idol❤ Amazing All
I really like your video. I was supprised because you can speak chinese and Vietnamese as well
I grew up speaking them. 😄
Epsom salt also has 13% sulfur. The combination is known to have effects on most flowering/fruiting trees.
Hi Wendi,
I love to grow pomelo but I couldn’t get a good one like this. So where is that pomelo tree located? If it is in California, may I visit it?
👍
I get the whole spongy texture way more now than before. I got a ponkan mandarin tree last year and just had the first of them yesterday. It was delicious, a bit more mild than a murcott tangerine, less acidic than them and an orange. I'm told the Chinese give them for good luck on their new year.
I'm curious, do you get leaf miners over there in Cali? I have still yet to find a good way to keep them away from my citrus plants, especially my lemons. I've tried the pheromone traps, but they only get some of them.
I'll have to ask what pomelo symbolizes in buddhism. Pomelo leaves are used for removing bad energy. We like decorating with gold/yellow and red colors during Lunar new year.
I didn't pay attention to their tree, but my Calamansi citrus gets leaf miners. It's very common in CA.
🎉my father's friend grafts jabong to produce tons of jabong.unfortunately he retired his nursery in kapahulu Oahu.
Where can i buy this pomelo tree? What kind of pomelo is this? Thanks for your video
okay so in summary of fertilization: epson regularly. when flowering begins, alternate between compost with sugar cane(?) pieces and bone meal? Lastly thin the fruit off the tree to keep the biggest. What a cool gardener and great tips! Thanks Wendi... p.s. the Pomelo hat/wig looks good on you :)
Those were just ornamental plant leaves. He was just composting any leaves/plants he didn't want (nothing specific). Lol His method is pretty simple, just takes some effort. He's a cool guy, wish I could squat and sit with him al day. PS. When I can get my hands on a giant pomelo, I'll have yellow hair for a day! :D
@@wendiland Do i see a future video on plant-based hair dye colors? :) joking/not-joking...Hey so you mentioned guava fertilization too...was he using the same method for that too?
@@SkylarHayes Plant based hair dye? That would be cool! Didn't get a chance to ask about guava, but he does use composted leaves mixed with chicken manure on all fruit trees. He did mentioned feeding guava with epsom salt regularly. His guavas are the best I've ever had, and I've had many. Haha!
@@wendiland Let me know if you need a hair mannequin lol. I've been using a rosemary/tulsi-basil hair rinse lately to regrow/take-my-grays out and it does wonders!
How long it takes to bear fruit
Tiếng anh, tiếng việt, tiếng quảng tất cả hoà vào nhau. Thật vui khi mình giống một phần trong bạn
Yes!! lol 🤗 It can be confusing to some people though. 😂
Shave the sponge away from the skin, chop finely with orange skins , freeze in Ziploc ... use to make marmalade .
Sounds delicious!
What city are these growing in?
Similar to orange fruit taste..but less in juice
Good description. It's an ancestor of citrus. :)
I've just ate a pomelo a variety called da xanh 😁
My friend. You are very luck indeed to try that variety but you also missing out on other special varieties that you are missing out such as "Thanh Tra, Tan Trieu, Quanh Chau and Nam roi, Bien Hoa". Because, these are like the five kings of the pommels world if you are passionate about citrus fruits. 😅
Your audio sound not loud.
Cây bưởi sai quá. Giống bưởi gì đây bạn?
@@tonypham8954 Thật sự mình khá tò mò. Nếu như mình có thể mua được giống này để trồng và trải nghiệm thì thật thú vị.
How can I get the seeds for planting?
I think the fastest way to get a pommel to fruit is to get a air layered tree instead, for faster fruiting. But this variety is called "Quang Chau is very exclusive, it took me nearly a decade to track one down. Best of Luck my friend. 😁
Sad for me to say but true, I've never tasted a Pomelo and I first learned and saw this GIGANTIC fruit from Paul on his channel, 'lifeinthailand', Paul had the pink colored variety, round and yes he also stated the fruit is mainly sweet, maybe a little acidic tang, but more sweet being the norm. From a Ruby red Grapefruit I planted a seed, it sprouted, grew and is now a tree about the size as this Pomelo, the fruit is very sour, lol 😂good thing I love sour, but the fruit is actually a yellow grapefruit, so I'm assuming that ruby reds are grafted to make them less sour and bitter. As for the pithe, I used to throw that away, not anymore, thanks to emmymadeinjapan, now emmymade here on UA-cam, she told us the sad story of Cubans living during the Great Depression, having scant resources and food at that time, they made grapefruit pithe schnitzels, so I tried that with the pithe and gotta say just as GOOD as the chicken schnitzels if not better. Thanks for sharing the wisdom and knowledge of Uncle Jim, 👍, sorry for the long comment and greetings👋from central Mexico. 😊
Wow thank you for sharing! Vietnam war happened right on Lunar new year, everything was shut down so people made food using white part of pomelo and watermelon skin. We tend to push boundaries at times in need. I would love to try that pith schnitzel!! If you like sour fruits you would prefer grapefruit over pomelo then. :D
How do u keep pomelo short as it can grow to 35 feet?
Take height down annually and do pruning.
Wonderful video! Now I’m curious… how many languages do you speak?
Thank you! And not that many, but will surprise you when opportunity presents. Haha!
Did you save the seeds ?
No since I don't have room for them. Also not sure if they will come true from seed.
Where I can get the variety of pomelo
Water from cleaning seafood, bones butied in garden etc ... would it not attrsct rets ?
That would be my concern as well. If possible it’s best to dig deep to bury pest attracting things.
i want to know why my pomelo fruits small
Can i buy those pomelos?
I wish they have more available! Check farmer markets or Asian markets.
Thank you. A few years back, i got a pandan plant from you. It did so well for me. Then last spring, when i moved it outside , a wind storm kill it, so sad.
I tried once... really it's good taste..but it's in pink colour...
Both kinds are good as long as you find a good fruit. :D
Can you please let me know what the name of this pomelo? E.g. chandler, etc.
I think that the name of that pommel is called as "Quang Chau" a Indochinese variety that is exclusive amongst all citrus collectors.
My mistake, thinking this chap was Thai speaking.
Ewow can I have seeds
I ordered luffa seeds ,showing your picture from ebay. The package says it came from a Victor in Ukraine. Do you know about this? I asked to be notified on your web site when the .luffa seeds were back in stock. I have not heard any thing. I do not know what these seeds are that were sent to me.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. There has been multiple sellers using my photos. Only place that carry my seeds are Wendiland.com and my Etsy shop as to date. I'm not sure what kind of luffa you will be getting since my variety is not common. There has not been enough seeds to go around last year. I'm hoping they will be available next year. Hope seeds you get will grow healthy plants no matter of the variety.
Guy needs to fertilise his body😂 just kidding
I just buy them at Food 4 Less. Why grow ?
It's fun
Depends if you have space and time to tend to. Homegrown quality, taste, experience is just way better, more sustainable and fun!
You are Chinese as I heard you were speaking Cantonese.
