We bought our "eventual retirement home" way outside of Avon Park in the boonies, but we love it. We come here every chance we can from the icy Pennsylvania mountains to escape the cold, the snow, and the skiers. Eventually we'll relocate here full time. Then we'll be able to hang around our pool, bike up and down the rural roads and orange groves, and sit in our quiet tree swing YEAR ROUND. It's our little slice of heaven.
My father got his pilot's wings at Avon Park during World War Two. It led to a 26-year career in which he flew in three different wars. Though we didn't get on well I am proud of him.
Very nice video. Even though I make Frostproof my home Avon Park seems like a second home since we do a lot of shopping there. If you like a small town with friendly people, Avon Park is a good choice to make your hometown.
Nice place to retire. Or raise small children as it is a safe town. Small town America and rural living. Not many good paying jobs unless you are a professional like a Doctor. I grew up in Desoto County so I am familiar with Avon Park. Though it has changed over the years, the people are still friendly and show why small towns are better than cities. .
@@Foxonpwas Nope, it is a safe town. Just visited the area and spent a couple of months in Highlands County. If you think Avon Park is dangerous, I would imagine you wet yourself if go to Lakeland.
We can't wait to build our forever home and move here. If some of these "Nay Sayers" commenting with their negative remarks want to see a city from Hell itself come live for 6 months here in Hampton VA. Pure Cesspool of hell itself. No matter where you go in this country you're going to have some sort of crime. It takes citizens to be concerned enough to speak up and force the laws and government to be held accountable. We've been to our property 6 times where our RV is parked for now. Not once have we had a bad experience.

I was raised in Avon Park. I still love to visit. Not much has changed in appearance in the last 50 years.
