Kimber mags are awesome, many competition shooters use them, but..... You're absolutely right, when loaded with a full 8 rounds they may not go into the gun because of the mag spring or follower bottoming out inside the mag., I had that problem. Best and simplest solution is to load 7 rounds, no more issues and they work perfectly. Do not modify the notches on the mags.
I recently got a Kimber Custom LW. It was $699 which isn’t bad. So far (300 rounds) and no jams or problems. And I was hesitant about buying it because the two others I owned (about 20 years ago, jammed up). Fast forward, I decided to give them another try. It actually works great!
I bought mine a year ago. Kimber Custom LW Night Patrol 9mm for 650. So far, not a single FTF or any malfunction. This firearm is as perfect as my other 1911, Dan Wesson Guardian 9mm.
750 is an excellent MSRP...which only exists to give the retailer cover fir gis profits...inthe same way as it does for car dealers...I recently bought an LW Ruger commander 1911 at a local Florida gun show...used for 700..OTD...this is an excellent deal!!!
I have the same gun. I also have an ATI. The ATI is not a bad 1911 for the price. It's basically the same pistol a GI would've carried in WWII. Sure, the Kimber has better sights so it's more accurate, whereas the ATI has fixed sights. Also, the ATI tends to jam if you use hollow point ammo, so I just use ball ammo with it. With ball ammo, it's reliable. The astonishing thing is that the ATI trigger is just as good as that of the Kimber. That's probably because of John Browning's design; I've never seen a 1911 with a bad trigger. The ATI is also slightly heavier, but the Kimber isn't a lightweight either, despite the LW in the name. Neither pistol comes close to being an EDC for me. I bought the Kimber only because it was offered at a phenomenal price of less than $600.
I'm picking up a kimber tle rl 2 tfs tomorrow. Looking forward to getting it. Always wanted a good 1911 with a threaded barrel. Not that I have a suppressor, but I like the look of them.
Nice review! Kimber has it's ups and downs on quality control though. (check out my video The State of Kimber) Like you, I immediately get rid of the Kimber magazines and replace them with Wilson Combat ETMs. As far as price point I think the Springfield Armory Ronin and Garrison are the best at that price versus Kimber. I have a few Kimbers that have been flawless and a few that failed. Truth be told, if you get a a Kimber that works keep it!
Kind of skeptic on kimbers the very first one I owned was a kimber custom 2 1911 10mm every time I went to chamber the round the slide will get stuck with the round so didn’t even get to shoot it every single time I racked the slide it would get stuck with the round but might give this one a try
@@flexxskins yes and its the most returned gun too check your stats, most reliable ? just coz thats what your told doesnt mean its true , you got fooled by a gimmick in the 90's glock reliability crap you guys are so gullible theres a lot of good guns out there far better than your cheap made glock , you have weak comprehention why you love glock
@@floydblack7115 first off, I haven’t been fooled by anyone. That’s just the hate in you that has you talking out your ass. I’ve had a Glock since 06. And in 16 years I’ve never experienced a single hiccup with the gun. That’s my definition of reliable. What’s yours? If I’m in a gun fight for whatever reason I’m reaching for my Glock for the simple reason that I know it’s going to run. The bottom line is that the gun is light, a smooth shooter and runs like a racehorse. Where was I fooled? I’m talking from experience son.

Taurus 1911's have been known to have heavy crappy triggers over 10lbs.
I have a shadow ghost, and I haven’t had a single malfunction with the 300 rounds Iv sent through it so far

No front strap checkering? No problem. Use poor man’s checkering. Like you, I use grip tape. Great video sir.
If you're concerned about the lack of checkering I recommend a product called 1911 snakestrap. It's much thinner and tougher than grip tape.
Congratulation! Beautiful gun!

I've heard the LW Kimber's had a problem with the frames cracking. I've really been thinking about a Pro carry II.
Ill keep an eye on it and let you guys know
LIke your channel ... subbed you!
