i didn’t get what was going on in the whole book until i watched this video OMG Thank goodness so much! i have a pure literature examination tomorrow and this video saved my life 🙏🙏
For those of you who don’t know, since I read this book in English this past year as a Junior in High School, this book is actually an allegory for McCarthyism and the Red Scare, and the mass hysteria that surrounded it.
Well for the Putnums it seems clear it was meant for them to claim more land. In fact if you look at a map of Salem and look at the accused vs the accusers' locations you can see what it's really about. For Parris, this was a way for him to lash out at those who want him out
I have a topic about this that I have to write about and the question is " Elucidate the agrarian society and this early form of agrarian capitalism on Salem and its effects on the psyche of the individual." I'm trying to find how capitalism is in this story at all but I'm having trouble finding it. Please help id really appreciate it
Not sure if this answers your question but Arthur Miller wrote this play to show the similarities between the Salem Witch Trails and the McCarthy Red Scare in the US (when people accused each other of being communist based on little evidence) to show the stupidity of the Red Scare in an attempt to stop it.
Hi and thanks for leaving a comment! It depends on your school, best to check with your teacher if The Crucible is something you will be discussing in class. All the best!
I watched it and I am have been studying the Crucible in class for the last couple of months. This video was really useful and made the story make much more sense which will help me with my Critical Essays. Thank you so much.

the way abigail accused people to become proctor's wife but then proctor ends up dying bc of her...
Pretty scary what people do for love, isn't it? Thanks for leaving a comment!
Well in real life Abigail and John never had an affair at all but she was among those that accused him of being a witch
You can tell that there was a change of heart when John Proctor went out with his honesty. Sad, but strong stuff!

This book so confusing 😭
We hope this video helped a little!
Which part do you not understand?
@@archierch0463 how did Mary's doll get the needle in if she made it, and how did Abigail hear about it to take advantage and stab herself.
@@kalebhudson456 Sounds like you found a plot hole.
@@kalebhudson456 It wasnt a plot hole. Abigail most likely gave mary the poppet to give to goody proctor and tell her she made it.
basically Abigail is a bad person
I have a test on this today and I didn't really understand it too well! Life savers u guys!!
You forgot the part where Mary just cries throughout the entire play.
