I once had an American Cocker Spaniel. He had the same coloring as Miami :-) Such good dogs.
Janet Seidlitz yes they are. I have my second and third now.
I had lots of favorites here! Gundog/Sporting is probably my second fave group after Hounds.
-Irish Water Spaniel
-Curly-Coated Retriever
-All the German pointers, esp. Wirehair and Longhair (wish we had them and the Munsterlanders in the US!)
-Lagotto Ramagnolo
-Spanish Water Dog
-Brittany (mine passed on in October...love you, Rusty-boy!!
wow all these dogs are so well trained
beautiful German short haired pointers !!
Beautiful dogs! I enjoy this group more than any other. The Large munsterlander caught my attention. I just wish they got more attention, people like to compare them to setters which is the reason they don't get placed. Also loved the German longhaired pointer and the Irish setter.
The large munsterlander caught my eye also, but there is a lot of breeds that never win. It's an extremely political game.
I wonder about the white tail of the German Wirehair Pointer. Does the UK have a different standard than the FCI?
15:09 +Crufts "He won in (...) Czechoslovakia" - Seriously Crufts? This is the second time I hear this ignorant statement from a Crufts commentator. :(
Please bring your commentators out of being stuck in the past! Czechoslovakia hasn't existed for almost a quarter of a century (and even before then this consolidation of Czech lands and Slovakia as one country had only existed for about 75 years altogether), so unlikely that any dogs in this show would have won anything in "Czechoslovakia" - or they should also be receiving the prize for the oldest dog alive! :D
When a dog walks out with your name:P
Lovely Pointer.
Super 😍😍😍👍 very nice to see that
The woman judging this group is a disgrace!! She & her husband have just been fined £5000 for keeping/boarding dogs in disgusting conditions at their kennels on the Staffs/Salop border. It is to be hoped she never gets to judge again!!!
My vavorits are the Flatcoated Retriever and the Super sweet American cocker spaniel 💕👍😍😁
Actually a breeder judge is tougher on the judging of their breed.
Fair enough, but is what you see here capable of working on the hill for a day! Like a gundog is meant to do? I don't think so
They are used in the US as field dogs to flush out quail and been used for decades. Some are used for retrieving birds because they have soft mouths. Every country uses different breeds of dogs for work. They also use German short haired, labs and retrievers. I am not a hunter but we adopted a senior cocker spaniel and she was trained for flushing out quail which she did unexpectedly when we went to the state park. They do not look like a show dog, their hair is cut or shaved closed to the body.
frankschlanker yes he is. When he is shaved down. No problem at all.
shocking form on that black Labrador, how can a specimen that overweight and under-toned be an example of the greatest dog breed in the world, even the golden retriever was in better shape! A perfect Labrador would be lean and muscular and built well for long running on rough terrain and through gorse. I doubt that chubby thing would even manage half a days picking up. Really, rather poor show
I agree with you
I have been around a lot of labradors in my childhood and this poor dog looks overweight :(
I agree! But English labs are a lot more stocky than American labs
The only dog not capable of working AS a gundog wins the gundog section. Appalling!!
Are you kidding? They use them as field dogs in the US, and they do not look like this, they are shaved. I have owned 2 of them, and one was used for field work at one time.
james crowe that is not uncommon.
james crowe it was the American cockers.
I have two and my late one was as good on tracking as my brother's Swedish Elk hounds. Which got him to change his mind about the breed. Mine was good on person tracking too. I train both tracking, nose work (still only for fun), rally and chantarel search with mine. My late one was great on finding mushrooms.
james crowe it is easy to be.
i have a lab and she tries to eat roman candles when we shoot them
Little cocker up the rear. Really ?
The judge barely even inspected any of them.
English Cocker Spaniel * (not "Cocker Spaniel") 🙂
In Britain they are Cocker Spaniel.
The breed might be called American Cocker but the dog is not American. If it was the tail would be properly docked !
Flat Coat... why.. why!?
I wanted him to win lol.
Is it just me, or when the Labrador and golden retriever came out didn’t they look short and pudgy compared to the other dogs? And here I am thinking that they’re big in real life, look at the Gordon setter!!
Miss Abbi AWESOMESAUCE!! They are from the European lines, not the American lines that we are used to seeing.
Miss Abbi AWESOMESAUCE!! For labs the standard is different in the US vs the UK. The US standard is based on the original working dog which is slimmer while the UK standard is based on strictly show dogs who are thicker and usually shorter. So a thick lab like that one is an English lab while the thinner dog we're used to is an American lab. The English variety produces more couch potatos but a lab's a lab either way you look at it 😁
They're show-line labradors. I live in the UK and our pet labradors look the same as yours! Especially since lots of people here train their labs for hunting, so most pet labs are the working strain.
I don't know anyone who thinks the show strain looks better tbh. Same for Springer and Cocker Spaniels, there is a show strain and a working strain and the working strain is more common and better looking imo.
Unfortunately that is the breed standard. If you go back to the oldest lines of Labradors, such as the Buccleuch lines, they are more slimmer and more agile built. Bench Labradors may be bred to standard, but they are very good for what they were bred for. Yes the American Kennel Club has tbe same standard
Labradors in the show ring (and even pet homes) are commonly overweight, sometimes obese. A study of dogs at Crufts had the Labrador as one of the most overweight dogs there, next to the Basset Hound and Pug.
So take them out of the ring and let them do gundog work and see who succeeds
These are show dogs, I have two American cocker spaniels, best dogs I have owned, one is a retired field dog. They do not look like this, they are shaved completely. This cocker spaniel is in show condition.

I know the lady showing the weim. I also know the breeder.
ash is no official colour in Chesapeake. and that is good, ash Dogs tend to suffer from Skin issues.
Loose leads ladies
if you loosen the leads that makes the dog the pack leader and push you around you dont see police dogs wit long leashes do you
judge looks like princess Dis homely older sister
She shouldnt be aloud to judge if she breeds I think crufts is fixed
