Every time Lenny comes up I can't help but smile about Len Dawson. I grew up in Kansas City, and he was on the local ABC station for sports news- it wasn't til later that I found out about his many, many years presenting Inside the NFL. And knowing that he was the QB for the Chiefs during those years right before and during the start of the merger, I feel like he had to be proud to see them finally win it all again 50 years later. I'm really happy to see my hometown team succeeding again after so, so long being snakebit when it mattered most. And I'm sure Len is too, even from above. ❤

I started rooting for the Chiefs back in Kansas when I was 8 in the old AFL days. Back then, we were always in the mix, winning more AFL titles than anyone else. Super Bowl IV was a dream for a young fan - a team full of future Hall of Famers. Then, the merger happened and we lost a double overtime excruciating, heartbreaking playoff to the Dolphins and it was like we fell off a cliff. Believe it or not, Mahomes is the first QB we ever drafted in 60 years of history that actually turned out to be good. Every other decent QB we had was acquired through trade. Guys like me have waited a LONG time for this and we are savoring it. Tom captured this season perfectly!

The only thing that would've made the DRAFT bit funnier would be if you included something along the lines of "GEORGE PICKENS WAS RIGHT THERE!" As a Chiefs fan, I was frothing at the mouth, thinking we were gonna draft him, only to take Moore (which, tbh, I am more than happy with).

I kinda agree. Also is seems like the bengals are hurt more from kc win than the eagles. Eagles fans have actually been pretty chill, but bengals fans just won’t stop 🙄

Tom you rock on this. Been a Chiefs Fan since 1993. Like the song "We Are The Champions" I have paid my dues and served time for a crime I didn't commit but now its my time to relish this success of 2 rings in 4 yrs and the best QB in the League.
