    Great videos on the Skoda Fabia. My daughter just got her license and my mothers old Skoda 1.4 MPI. I use your videos to teach her how to maintain the car. Thanks for making this possible.

    Here you are again. Glad to see you. my Fabia has 2 T45 screws in the FS-III. Not the 7 mm. I would only cleaned the rust from the parts and use the same ones. I think you live near the sea. That is too much rust. I had a Seat that in twenty years do not seen a garage and not so rusty.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 роки тому

      yes, it is very damp where I live. I will do a video showing me clean up the brakes and re-using. Interesting you have T45 bolts :-)

    • @ruimvp
      @ruimvp 2 роки тому +1

      @@HatBoyHarvey I think that a 7 mm key do not turn T45 bolts and vice versa. 😃 But already seen in UA-cam a guy unbolting a torx bolt with a flat screwdriver...

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  4 місяці тому +1

      If they are very rusty then you may have issues such as seized caliper pistons, if so, just replace the lot as it is much easier than messing about freeing those up. Wish you good luck :-)

      @@HatBoyHarvey Did the headlight swap yesterday, thanks for that to! :D
      Well, they work ok, wheels roll freely, brakes work , its only a visual bugger. Probabbly need to swap the discs. Pads are ok still.

    Muchas gracias por el vídeo, he cambiado por primera vez yo mismo las pastillas delanteras de mi Fabia 1.4 tdi y ha ido muy bien, les puse unas pastillas marca Brembo, usé también limpia frenos Holtz y grasa de litio para los tornillos de la pinza, ha quedado muy bien, en la inspección en la prueba de frenado dio sobre un 90 % de eficacia, pronto le cambiaré los discos también que ya están usados. Muchas gracias por sus videos, me han sido de gran ayuda. Nota: Para limpiar los tornillos pasadores usé un estropajo metálico y funcionó muy bien, un saludo.

    Thanks great overview of the whole setup 👍 my calipers have had it so think I'll replace them rather than messing about changing pistons and seals!

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 роки тому

      Thanks, I think that is a wise choice to make as it takes time to free up seized in pistons and replace seals etc and then you find they don't last much longer anyway compared to brand new ones. Calipers corrode over time so if there is any evidence at all then new ones would be my recommendation too :-)

    Is it obligatory to bleed the breakes after changing the pads/discs?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  2 роки тому +1

      Not always necessary. If they feel solid, no worries, but you have also got to think about water content that builds up over time. That is why it is recommended to periodically change out the fluid as per service manual. The fluid absorbed water from the atmosphere and when this evaporates under hard braking it can produce air pockets and spongy potentially dangerous brakes.
