-------------------------------------------
When considering Britain's wealthiest non-royal families, the Grosvenor family, owners of London's prestigious Mayfair and Chelsea, or the Reuben brothers, prominent figures in real estate, technology, and private equity, might come to mind.
However, the richest private family in the UK is the Hinduja family, originally from India.
With their vast global conglomerate spanning banking, cable television, real estate, and healthcare, the Hindujas represent a formidable example of international business success.
Despite their affluence, the Hindujas have encountered their share of controversy, including a recent conviction in Switzerland for exploitation and illegal employment.
In this episode, we delve into the Hindujas' journey from modest beginnings in India to becoming a dominant force in the UK, exploring the dynamics that have shaped their rise and the challenges they face today.
The Hinduja family's story begins with Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, who founded the Hinduja Group in Bombay at the age of thirteen.
His early ventures into merchant banking and trade laid the foundation for what would become a multinational empire.
By the 1970s, under the leadership of S.P. Hinduja, the family began to significantly expand their operations internationally, moving their base from Iran to Europe due to the shifting political landscape.
This expansion brought the Hinduja Group into new sectors such as media, technology, and automotive manufacturing, significantly boosting their profile and wealth.
The family's holdings include prestigious properties like the Raffles London Hotel and a lavish private yacht, illustrating their luxurious lifestyle far removed from ordinary financial concerns.
However, the Hindujas' business practices have not been without controversy. Their involvement in scandals ranging from the Bofors case in the 1980s to recent accusations of human trafficking has tarnished their reputation.
These legal challenges reflect ongoing concerns about the ethics of their business operations, despite their financial successes.
The narrative of the Hinduja family is one of dramatic contrasts, featuring remarkable economic achievements shadowed by ethical and legal issues.
Their story raises questions about the balance between wealth accumulation and social responsibility, making them a complex case study in the modern globalized economy.
As we look to the future, the leadership of the Hinduja family has passed to Gopichand Hinduja, who is steering the group towards more sustainable practices in response to global environmental concerns.
The next generation, including Gopichand's sons, is also making significant strides in green technology and philanthropy, attempting to reshape the family's public image and legacy.
The Hinduja family's saga from rags to riches is undeniably compelling, but it also presents a cautionary tale about the potential moral compromises in the pursuit of wealth.
COMMENT: What is your opinion of the Hinduja Family? Are they a great example of “rags to riches” or are they yet another instance of morally questionable billionaires?
Not certain, checking, think we were in business - legitimate - with them a few years ago.

how could anyone pay their household staff so poorly with any conscious
Just think how bad they're treating staff they deam untouchable.
That’s not just it, the dirty lobbying they’re doing in Britain & depriving other nationalities of jobs & rest of the country’s market in Uk is extremely damaging, corrupt & unfair practices…

Hinduja's net worth is currently around £37.196 billion. In 2024 alone, it rose by £2.196 billion.
The Hindujas are true British in every sense of the word. Their growth (&their exploitation) mirrors what Britain had done with other countries & their system for centuries.
Well the UK should be very proud of them.
And very dangerous, you can bank on that
Not really, it’s a racist remark…
@sheshahayat5117 which remark? Most of these ppl and globalists are of the same cloth. Dodgy....
As the first country in the world to outlaw to outlaw slavery. The UK is disgusted about the behaviour of the Hindujas.
@@sheshahayat5117.😢
I don't know much about hinduja but they're the largest employers in Uk
No, that title goes to the TATAs who are the UK's biggest employers.
Employers for Indian Hindus only, does that look fair to you ?
Really they would not pay British minimum wage they'd be breaking the law in uk too abd making same headlines as they have in Switzerland
If hindus are the one qualified then be it@@sheshahayat5117
@par5308 Native businessmen have been doing that for centuries on the island. Which is why cheap labour from abroad is hired. So why has your moral compasss turned 180 when the employer, in this case, is of non native origin? Typical hypocrisy.
The Hindujas wealth from Rags to Riches, is a true manifestation of hard work and perseverance and a bit of luck. The Hindujas were a solid family of 5 to 4 of them who put up The Hindujas to the top permanently.
As the saying goes thus "Money is the key of the World, and root of Evil too". But thats NOT The Hindujäs anyway according to this Episode. Thańks.
Great story of rags to riches.

Disgusting how they abused their slaves.
Modern slavery that is

India was a rich country in the world before the Britain came in India ,and when they left they destroyed all the industries made India a penny less country, but in english there's a saying times in the greatest healer .🙏 जय हिंद बन्दे मात्रम 🙏 🇮🇳
Even British royal's pay their staff very poor wages, British Looted Trillions Since 18 century , Now Time came for Indian will rule England again .....
that is fact no doubt ,but that does not mitigate their wrong doings
They cannot be good example of ranks to riches if they underpay and exploit their workers. This is morally unacceptable. And so they are morally questionable billionaires?
billionaires are not known for standing on high moral grounds. however, they have so much money that gives them access to all corridors of power
Bullcrap! workers were paid good salary as per their Indian contracts. All of their expenses were on the Hinduja family as they lived and dined with the family.
So they paid their servants less than $240 (30 days). If less days, less pay. In Switzerland. Let that sink in. Wow.
🤔! At least , they didn’t keep any slaves.
🤬🤬🤬

You are correct. Dont forget Rothschild of East India Comp of the Bristish Empire/ Royals who looted $7 Trillion.

It creates the imbalances of society that’s always existed with centuries of taking advantage of others labour with keeping them impoverished..
I think the answer is obvious.
Oh, interesting. Thank you for your documentary.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the admirable and incredible accomplishments - there will always be ones who try to pull you down.
Arms dealers and all else is a front for decades
All the other businesses are cover up for arm deals.
Why can’t they pay wages above the minimum wage. Morally irresponsible
What do you expect they never pay any taxes or pay very little
Omg, my dad company worked for the family best part 35 years personally, plenty of stories, approx 35 yrs ago the family stopped the eldest son from buying a F1 racing team, so he bought a brand new Ferrari Testorossa in defiance and drove it to there head office In New Zealand house where I sometimes worked.
❤i loved your vedio.
Total greed, paying their workers peanuts.
This is funny. Once the British ruled India 🇮🇳, now they are crying because an India family owns Britain. What goes around comes around.
BRILLIANT isn'y it?!
Britain is huge country and this family is a drop in ocean, many people like them live in uk 🇬🇧 and contribute to uk economy, that's why British government and royal family love 🇮🇳 people ❤️ them ,besides if look at British empire it was strong because of Indian's working very hard to make uk greatest in the world.
Are you proud of this Indian family exploiting poor Indian servants? How about you make your life worthy of something instead of deriving pride from what other Indians do.

Dang! Why did the British politicians sell themselves in this case? 😊
THEY WERE NOT PAYING THEIR SERVANTS IN SWITZERLAND, MAKING THEM WORK 18 TO 21 HOURS A DAY WIRH NO HOLIDAYS AND HAD IMPOUNDED THE SERVANTS PASSPORTS
Money is powerful and money corrupts. And this goes beautifully with the Hinduja family with the exception of the Patriarch
Jai Hind. Thankfully we Indian origins still own the UK because our Indian origin had hardly warmed his seat ruling over UK.
Money can't buy class.
True. See the royal family classlessness
It's not about class , it's about capitalism. We, as workers, need to keep the system in check.
What class??
I bet they don't pay a lot of taxes like the work class
They are quintessentially British in their approach of exploitation.
All rich dont pay proper tax, Jewish families in the UK are much more richer but hide the wealth. Plus the media dont show how rich they are but pinpoint others like Hindujas. But Barclay brothers, Close brothers, Glazers, Rothschilds are all Jewish family and have way more wealth, hidden by media and not reported on.
It's a shame that Indian behaviour does not match with Indian philosophies. Such contradictions!
You are generalising characteristics of 1.8 billion people
You are obviously wrong careless in thinking may be biased against Indians
If you want to see behavior of Indian industrialists and their philosophies you should see how the TATA and it's foundation works there are lots of videos even a Tedx video about the Corporation
Hi this one is great, he did a good job setting up business for him self and is family, also he did not go to college to do this. So I am very happy for this family.
Clandestine khans (kohen) who arrived 1400 years ago, they united with the British brothers, and took down India, Britain
all that money yet they fail to pay their workers minimum wage disgusting good thing this was not india or else the matter would not even have reached to the court
These are morally questionable people. There greed is iminagable with their focus only for themselves. With all that wealth they were cannot pay their staff a living wage. They are very selfish.

Enjoy this video, I have never heard of this family name. Good to hear there rags to riches story. It only makes me realise, that the only way to get financial freedom, is to go to work and learn on the job, rather than go to university and learn about commercial that way and then become rich, doing it this way. University to me is the only way if you want to become a Doctor, Lawyer, or any other professional career. Enjoy learning about this family and all stories like this, is always going to have some skeletons in the closet. Good or bad. Thanks and looking forward to other videos you make.
Thanks for your thoughts, and good to hear you enjoyed it :)
A lot of rich Indians get their servants from India, so they can pay Indian wages and using Indian rules. In some home, servants are not allowed to eat before their masters, no matter how late.

Great example of rags to riches.
It’s all good 😊
It is very difficult to know exactly how they operate as the top management is a close circuit , relying on family people with no an outsider.
That's how the country is run .
37 Billion is not enough to 'own' Britain.
It’s a little ironic that the old wealth of Britain or England is based on loot of India. So think through your diatribe on the situation of The Hindujas. Not that they are any better.
Good

This family has been taken to court and found guilty!!!! Their reputations and actions have destroyed them!!! The mother who is the leader of slavery!!

In close future we will have to learn Punjabi. Let's be it.
This family employs over 100,000 people and had they truly been exploiters their business and growth would not be sustainable - media all over the world would be rife with stories of exploitation of their employees.
IMO they are being targeted as just as Indian Diplomat Devyani Khobragade was targeted in New York.
They must have ruffled the wrong feathers as criminally charged Russian oligarch and African despot families live happily under the radar in Switzerland
Why they are being targeted is a question to ponder upon…
You completely missed that they made their fortune in arms deals.
And of course, careless management of all their businesses - none is no.1 in its field, and even now, they stupidly paid peanuts to their staff despite minimum wage laws. Very loose management. Now they are staring at jail.
