You know, I discovered your channel a while ago when I first got into PZ and loved your content. Then a while later I discovered Vintage Story and fell in love with watching the few playthroughs I found of it on UA-cam. The fact that you're playing it now is such a happy coincidence for me. Maybe you'll convince me to get this game too like PZ!
Going full snowball earth settings with some worldgen mods and extra plants is so incredibly fun for giving you glimmers of hope in hopeless situations
@@Pr1vateLime if you do make this a series, I do genuinely suggest looking into the VS Village and VS questing mods, because if you come across a mayor npc or a soldier outpost, you can genuinely get a quest to create your own village in the snow from scratch! It's such a genuinely fun end goal in a desolate world like that!
I was watching a video about a new minecraft or minecraft 2, upon looking at the comments i realised a lot of people were talking about a game called vintage story, i searched it up and stumbled upon this masterpiece of a video and instantly fell in love with the game. Got yourself a new subscriber. Keep the good work up bro.
Man, I would've never found the game if it wasn't for this video! I immediately fell in love with it and got it right away hehe Please make this a series, Grugg deserves to show how he can thrive in such a harsh environment!
I really love this game, despite its flaws in certain areas and very slow development. Yet its "harsh cold" start really is a challenge and its nice seeing you giving this game some time and place to shine. :)
To a degree these flaws add to it's charm, getting familiar with the little quirks the game has. While the updates are slow, they are cohesive and real improvements and additions to the game. A breath of fresh air and rewarding to stay involved in, unlike the other block game it resembles nowadays.
This game seems like something you'de make interesting above a majority of many other UA-camrs who've played it. I totally look forward to this being a possible series!
Lime seeing the piece of grass under the wagon "I will mark that down for later" Me who has been playing vintage story since 1.16 Oh you are not going to be happy when you find out
You can dig up the ruins and they'll have soil underneath them, you can then put glacier ice (which you can dig by hand and doesn't melt) above the dirt to protect it from snow and it'll eventually grow some grass
"Place" every single thing you can. Like the gears you gave a fling to. They stack to five on open ground, and, there's plenty of that. A placed torch and a 1x2 "room" can (slooowly) warm you up. Also, the "starving" mechanic is paused every time you nibble something. Five grain, for instance, won't be anything but a blip if you just eat them ... but if you nibble one and *wait* , and then nibble another and *wait* ... much longer period to reach low food again.
Please continue this series, I like seeing you play stuff other than PZ and I haven't seen any of you or your friends ever get past the stone age in this game.
you always get me addicted to new games I swear, this one seems incredibly interesting to watch. I hope there is more episodes, as well I hope I'm home from work when the next one drops lol! keep up the good work private lime!
This is the kind of content this game needs. I forgot this game existed despite being what, 7 years old? But you convinced me to run out and buy it right away
"That discord notification was me, I am so sorry" Where does my, apparently superhuman, reaction time go when I need it? Can't play fps games because my reaction time is to slow, but I hear a notification and the video pauses instantly, and I fucking teleport to the dudes army discord server. I haven't even watched trupen in so long, and I never check my discord, until today.
Excited to see this as a series hopefully, the game is a bit esoteric for me to get into by myself so it'll be nice to learn through you, and also the PZ content has gotten a tad stale because you're basically a god in that game regardless of what you're given.
Can't make a fire without grass, even with a bunch of evergreen trees right there? Big brain stuff. I know every time I've ever made a fire, I had to use grass instead of small twigs or leaves. Or as small twigs are sometimes better known: kindling.
I never tried an arctic vintage story challenge, seems fun. There might also be some good mods to work with to make it better besides just primitive survival but that one seems nice.
This really reminds me of the ages modpack for minecraft, would not be surprised if the devs are some of the same guys. Looks like an insane start, even surviving the first few days is not actually a guarantee you will make it :D
I love vintage story, and the winter start is one of my favourites, but the snow and stuff really needs to be redone, as snow currently has no physics, which is quite unimmersive
While it's a bit late now, it might've been worth making a hoe and getting some dirt (there might've been some under the snow.) put the dirt down on the surface and till it, normally that causes grass and other things likehorsetails to spawn on it. It does so pretty quickly too.
i remember seeing you play this game awhile back and i wanted to get it but i forgot about it glad to see this game return, and that is getting attention i finally managed to buy it recently
Man I loved your streams of this game. Glad to see you dropping some vids on the channel of it been too long since we got some vintage story here. Also second time one of your vids got me into a game, first chance I got I'm gonna buy this bad boy.
I don't know anything about this game but it looks pretty in-depth. Is there any kind of endgame goal normally? I imagine for this series it would just be survive as long as possible, right? Will be neat to see more!
Okay cool so another you make your own story kinda thing. Always good imagination exercise;and making medieval weapons would be fun with the custom cutting you can do I'm sure.Neat! @@Pr1vateLime
The actual "plot" of the story is basically at the "Early Access" sort of level. There's critters-at-night, and there's extensive ruins (beyond what's shown here). It's a fun game for nothing but the survival parts though.
What a different approach to both the survival and video making compared to @Enns13 's (new) cold start series. Loved the video, hoping for a full series, these snowball earth challenges are fun to watch. Recently made a trek through the cold regions of my server's world, got up to -41°C there but with fur coats and slightly more plant growth this was significantly easier.
Hear me out, Lime. You should play this game this winter with your window open in your room to make yourself as cold as functionally possible. Only warm yourself up incrementally as your character also finds sources of heat or insulation. If you die in game you die IRL The algorithm demands your very mortality
Collect vines in this setting, they are of your few resources out there. Leaving tools behind, interesting choice. Could have used the shovel later. Gears useless? The survival trader selection can be clinch. Linen sacks anyone? Maybe someone sells fuel or tools. A bow. Can straight up eat the fat piles. Protein cal. like 200?
I survived this Szenario allready without mods! I just changed the aquator-pole distance at the start to 25k. I found some gears at a translocator and a agriculture traider at the start and got Lots of bread this way. Training ist Key!Also try to make a cooking Pot really early. U get so much more food Out of Things Like grain. For now i walked 16 k south in my world and found some fertile Land. I Hope grow something before Winter but its hard
please make this a series
Seems to depend on views.
I honestly might! The variety is nice!
@Pr1vateLime do it!
@@Pr1vateLimewe would love that!!!!!!!!
@@Pr1vateLime Would be keen to see it become a full series. Long as you're having fun with it, go for it my dude.

Aside from the massive 800lb polar bears :D
I can't explain how much I love this game! Feels extremely good making progress on it!
Yes, please do go on! It was a lot of fun watching Grug overcome challanges
Im glad this game is getting more content, first ItsOtz making a very successful server and now a survival challenge

Heck yea!!!!
Thank you for making this video. Vintage Story is an awesome game, even in its current relatively early stage, and it needs more recognition.

This is such a great start for a long series 😊
You can dig up the ruins and they'll have soil underneath them, you can then put glacier ice (which you can dig by hand and doesn't melt) above the dirt to protect it from snow and it'll eventually grow some grass
When knapping or doing pottery, you can just hold click rather than individually clicking on each pixel. Thanks for the vid!

They were the same devs behind terra firma!
@@Pr1vateLimehuh I was wondering why it has almost the same features as it, pretty cool game though.

This game's building system is way WAY more complex than minecraft. You can literally build anything with chiseling
Is there a carpal tunnel freindly version? 😅
there are duplicate block mods for chiseling!
