    Hi, that plus / minus on the nozzle is how to adjust the spray pattern not flow, for that repair I'd suggest adjusting it towards the plus to give you a larger fan pattern, less chance of runs!

    I was a metal worker for years. A word of caution with wire wheel attachments especially if the wire isnt twisted. Wear a full face sheild and a leather apron. The wire can shoot out. Ive had them fired into my lips. Why the apron? Ive had them fire through my jeans, around my groin, yes that hurt. Another great vid.

    Really good job on the rust Mel, it’s something I deal with at work being an industrial painter/sprayer on BAE’s Clyde shipyards. Only suggestion I would offer would be using an abrasive flapping disc over a wire cup, bit more control over feathering back paint work while also being gentle on the good metal that’s still there. Big thumbs up from me big fella

    Hey Mel, I'm so glad you done this video, diy for the win, erm I don't mean to be the breaker of bad news but you need to take the number plate light panel off, you can see rust bubbling up on the far left fixing, basically top left of the number plate, my mate had a 3 year old vito and it was rotten, had to take it back to mercedes for 2 new rear doors.

    That kit you had in the back of the van reminds me when we used to go to Silverstone and Thruxton back in the 70's when we could park almost next to the track for Bike and Car racing weekenders. There used to be a fair bit of time to kill between races so we'd take our motley old Cortinas, Zodiacs, Jags etc and spend our time sanding, filling and spraying so we could come back with a well tarted-up motor at the end of the day......... #HappyDays ;-)

    I just thought to add this Mel, I hope you don't mind. A Dremel or similar can also be used with a sanding drum attachment. An angle grinder is a ferocious bit of kit and while I accept if things have got very bad and you have a large area an angle grinder and wire brush are excellent for fast paint and rust removal, for people without much experience of power tools, they might be a bit of a handful. A Dremel would be my preference for small patches of rust.

  • @justinsmith6296
    @justinsmith6296 5 років тому +2

    Personally Mel I would of used a paint over smooth finish stone chip under the paint on the lower panels, especially if your painting the whole section, it gives it a more durable longer lasting finish, and if the paint did get chipped you still have a rubberised coating to stop and damp causing more rust, Ok it might take an extra 24hrs to go off before you apply top coat but it is worth the extra time and effort, otherwise mate great job as ever.

    I'm sure you know and did this,
    so just a tip that escaped the video :
    if a spray can isn't empty when you stop using it, hold it upside down and give it a few puffs, allowing the (probably) propane pressurising gas to squirt (no pun intended ;) ) out the remaining paint out of the nozzle ... all the more chance you can reuse the remainder later on :)

    Maybe you could place a clear plastic protector in front of your camera, that way you could film when using power tools etc

Do you sell your vans on once you start a new project? Keep up the good work 👍 oh yeah congratulations on 7000 subs
