Been listening to this since it came out. Also, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young (First 2 album's still my favourites.) CSNY. No Nash or Crosby Manassas but not overly keen on them. New Rider's of the Purple Sage are my real favourite's and have alway's alway's been. {I'm not a Dead fan}. I'm British and grew up with all these and of course the STONE'S... Note, not the beatles. Most of the Steven Still's album's are well worth listening to. I play them fairly regularly.
I love how both the keyboards (organ & piano) and guitars (lush is an appropriate description) really have a great interplay on this album. In 1971, Stephen Stills played keyboards on Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy" single. Although produced by George Harrison, the single has the great signature sound of Stills' interplay of keyboard & guitars.
They're easily found in the wild. Out your way, the Eastern US, it'll probably be a PR (Presswell) cut. Those are good. If it's a "CTH" or "CP" at the bottom of the record label, those are crap. PR or RI or MO or SP...those were well done.
Yes, get a HumminGuru. Had one for 3 months now; life changing! Scored a Stills 1 UK red plum first press recently. Very dirty and scuffed, but after an ultrasound clean it sings like real all analog early press.
Didn't know about that either...a possible remix. Have two 1970 US copies...Richmond and Monarch. Both are very well done. The CTH cut was crap. Got rid of it some years ago.
i saw Buffalo Springfield new year eve in hollywood before they released their first album what a live performance. i have this album among all the others. i also have a 1 sided soft cut of a disco that he tried and thankfully it was not released.
This is a great album! Of course, "Deja Vu" and "4 Way Street" were my favorite albums. I was in an original R&B band with Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuel. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I knew Joe Butler from the The Lovin Spoonful. I helped him paint his inlaws cottage. I have a wild story about him. I'm still very into music. Rock being my favorite, but I have eclectic taste.
I also bought this Stills vinyl at Pitchfork in Concord. It was Summer of '87. I was 17 and the store was kitty corner from its present location. Its been one of my favorites ever since!
Thanks for the kind words. I've got some Steely Dan and Doobie's. Big fan! I am also a fan of Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat. I'm on the lookout for that in the used bins.

Thanks for the comment, Dennis! I did not know Stills was on "It Don't Come Easy". I love the cross-pollination these artist had back in the day.
I have a copy on cd.
Gonna break that out and hear & remember how it sounds.
I will keep an eye out for an lp when I am in the village (NYC) again.

I'll have to check out the HummingGuru John. Thanks for the tip and comment!

You have to check out his double album Manassas. I still listen to it today...a real gem.
Thanks for watching! That's been on my list for quite some time. Great line up in that band as well!!
And the 2nd Manassas, Down the Road, with Joe Walsh slide. And Stills 75 LP for Columbia is a Tatto You style barrel scraping delight.
@@johnosullivan2017 I'll certainly look for that one. Looks like it has a nice lineup as well. Thanks for the tip!
All-Star Line-up ans absolutely no one talks about this great album.
I don't talk about it. I still listen to it, from it's first release and maybe a couple of month's ago. WHY THE SURPRISE ?

Got a Steven Stills boxset and it is brilliant.

Nice! We're about the same age. I graduated HS in 1987. I had no idea this store existed until a few months ago.
Thank you for this deep dive into an album that has so much more to offer than (the hit single) Love The One Your're With. Stills is a genius!!!!
Thanks for the kind words! Yup. This is a great album!! Thanks for watching!
Great review.........have any Seals and Crofts, Steely Dan, Al Stewart or Doobie Brothers?
